  1. It would be useful to know what the threshhold is for the low pressure sensor warning. Is this information published? Tom
  2. I think that the critical factor here is whether there was an attempt to start the engine with diesel fuel. If not, I'd simply drop and drain the fuel tank and avoid running diesel thrugh the engine and risking cat converter and/or other damage. Tom
  3. You may also have tires with tread separation. I did, with similar symtoms. Tom
  4. That would be great, Stan. Thanks in advance. Have fun with that new 400h when you pick it up. I really love mine. Tom
  5. Oops, meant "bald," not "balk." Happy holidays to you as well Ray. Tom
  6. Great contribution, Ray. I actually like it better "bald" too, but may leave mine on for the very unlikely possibility that I might use it. Or I may just be too lazy to remove it. Tom
  7. Midas couldn't get rubber muffler mounts right on my BMW on 4 trips--kept breaking. Eventually they blamed my engine as "having too much vibration." I ultimately reversed the credit charge and they made no effort to dispute it. FYI, their rubber mounts were similar to OEM in appearance until you held them side by side. Then they were obviously inferior immitations. I also have a non-automotive service background. While sitting around time after time I heard more overselling and general bull*BLEEP* than one could imagine. Tom
  8. SK, the ctek site only shows tiny chargers, not the one you picture. Tom
  9. Texas, hood lights, glove box lights, etc., are notorious for sticking and draining batteries "discretely." You should not have any enough battery discharge in a week to affect starting. That being said, there are a number of decent 2 amp chargers avalable that would suffice. Tom
  10. Thanks, Colorado. I'll check with my local dealer. Is the frame nice? Tom
  11. I would be all over an appropriate license plate frame. Does anyone know any manufactures to make a suggestion? Tom
  12. Husker. I only made a few calls, mostly adjacent states. Then I called three local dealers and essentially told them I had firm quotes as low as $1500 over invoice. Two immediately said they would match the price The third didn't call back. Be careful however to get the out-the-door price as doc fees etc can vary. My 07 came out to be: $48,306 invoice $42,772 dealer cost $ 1,500 dealer profit $44,272 my price $ 412 misc fees $44,684 total before sales tax, license and registration fees I don't think that there is any shortage of RX400h's, so a dealer will likely do whatever he needs to do to keep from losing a sale. Also there is always additional profit for the dealer with end-of-the-year holdback, which is a somewhat guarded number. Hope this helps. Tom
  13. I'm dense, but what does this give me? Tom
  14. I for one think this would be cool to try. Wonder if they will eventually offer one for the RX400h and Highlander hybrid? Tom
  15. I have towed an enclosed 8 x 8 x 16 box trailer and a 8 x 16 flatbed trailer, both with similar gross weights, behind a GMC Yukon (specifically, loaded with motorcycles). My fuel mileage was much worse with the box trailer pushing air with 64 sq-ft of vertical frontal area. Tom
  16. Husker, see my October 26th post. Tom
  17. I'd get the alignment check, regardless of how it drives. And I never use the dealer for alignment work, rather a well-known independent alignment-only shop. I've been using the same one in Phoenix, AZ for 27 years. Tom
  18. Skyfish. I can't think of a better response than yours although saving a buck or two on a $50,000 car doesn't seem to be typical Lexus. There is a small hump under the passenger mat but I wouldn't think it would prevent clips from working. Small thing in a car I otherwise adore. Tom
  19. It seems strange that the floor mats on my 07 RX400h have rather nice clips on the left front and both rear mats but none on the right front. Any idea why not all four? Tom
  20. I haven't towed with my RX400h but with other vehicles I have observed much lower mileage with a trailer in tow. I think it's not weight but wind resistance. Tom
  21. Rexy, my 1990 LS400 had an on/off swith for the remote on the dashboard to the left of the steering wheel. If you have a similar switch, is it possibly turned off? Tom
  22. Kawasaki ZX12R 175mph indicated. Tom
  23. Perhaps my luck was bad but my Lexus extended warranty on my 90 LS400 paid for itself several times over. I had numerous repairs under warranty, some of which would have exceeded $1000. Tom
  24. Call me easy, but I love the interior of my RX400h, and I'm proud to open the passenger door for a visitor. Tom
  25. Personally I don't really care what adjective was used in an otherwise great story from a guy who is obviously excited about his first house and wants to share his enthusiasm with fellow Lexus owners. And I suspect that virtually no one was interested in an education on the term "Oriental" which in most people's minds simply refers to people from the Orient. Funny that no Oriental Lexus owners commented. :) Tom
