  1. its not that ez actually, you have to suck everything out first then youhave to fill the system with refigerant with die to make sure you have no leaks and only then you completely fill the system.
  2. you can get artificial r12 which you can buy without a license. it will not give you the temp that real r12 gives but it much cheaper and in case your Ac system leaks you will not waste big bux
  3. 14 years is not a lot. when lexus is going to be the same age as MB for example then it would be a good time to open up a museum. i'm pretty sure lexus has this idea in mind and once the time will they will oipen up a musem and only special cars would be there (e.g Bill Gates LS400).
  4. www.compustar.org this is what i got and this is the best so far

  6. i dont understand what exactly you mean by being smooth but if your brake pedal kicks when you push it it means that your rotor is bent.
  7. check the battery, if it clicks it might be that your battery is not in the top shape. there might be bunch of other things if ur battery turns out to be ok, fuses, relays etc might cause this, there should be a troubleshooting manuial for the starter and you should talk to 99LS about gettin it.
  8. what kind of smell r u talking about? btw you always have to open garage door when you start the car especially with the cold engine.
  9. got returned mail please verify your address
  10. this is one of your oxygen sensors going bad i would recommend taking it out and cleaning it, also there is a specific test that will show if the sensor operates properly, but first take it out and clean it.
  11. there are no chips in 97 LS keys. check the fuses and check if you have spark and fuel coming to injectors.
  12. guys, this stuff is not for the tank cleaning, no debrises in the tank this is injector cleaner and it cleans injectors. i think it might be clogged injectors and makes ur car fuel hungry, ECU detects it and tries to put more fuel into the cylinder and that is why you get 15 mpg
  13. yeah its no biggie, you can drive like this till its starts to leak more.
  14. no there is a filter right above the rear differential, there is also fuel evaporator, fuel pressure dumper and fuel return hose
  15. yes it will , you need to suck it out or take it out somehow
  16. gimme your email that can accept files of 10mb and i will send you the manual that i created when i changed it on mine.
  17. air in the pps has nothing to do with chainging rack and pinion or ur pump, even with your leaking rack if you bleed the system the air will be gone, bleeding procedure created just for this purpose. tell your mechanic to clean the screen in the rack and then flush and bleed the system and you will see improvement right away. i would recommend using volvoline ATF for this purpose. dont use generic steering fluid since it will destroy your pps. when you turn on the AC your RPM goes up so that is why it is not resonating. resonanse appears only on specific rpms and you still need to check engine and tranny mounts. P.s. please dont start a new topic each time, just post your reply here
  18. percentage plays the main role there, i would rather stick to what repair manual says. coolant is same price and it takes 30 mins or less to change the coolant so i would rather stick with my green coolant.
  19. well the do have the warning in both user and service manual, i happen to owe 3 volumes of lexus repair manuals and they clearly state and i quote "use a good brand of ethylene glycol based coolant" and "using coolant that includes more then 50% ethylene glycol is recommended" it also states that alcohol type coolant should not be used. even when i went to the pep boys store to get some coolant i asked guys there just out of curiosity to check their system and it clearly stated - RED only.
  20. do you start driving when the engine is cold and rpms are high around 1500? or you let the engine warm up completely and start driving when idle rpms are around 600-700?
  21. if you have air in thge pps then this is exactly when you will hear the groaning. and yeah, dont change the starter yet, its a really complicated and expensive procedure, so when it dies you just tow ur car and fix it. but it might take another year or 2 for it to die, you might not have the car in a year or 2, on the other hand it might die tomorrow, with those things u never know when its gonna hit ya. about the shocks: i remember there is been an issue with an early LS models, if you search the forums you might be able to find it, i didnt find it but i do remember it was discussed here 2-3 month ago. the vibrations might be either from the bad wheel balance or a bent rim. i had this problem and changin the rim and doing balance on the both sides of all wheels fixed the problem. strange engine revs might be sympthoms of the dying transmission. it might be that your torque converter is not releasing but i'm not a big expert on the trannies. whats the idle rpm when u feel the rumbling and shaking ? when ur turn on the AC ur rpm goes higher to compensate the load on the engine so just take a look at the rpm and try to increase it withthe bedal just by a little. if it will go away then i still think it might be your mount or just the car body catching resonanse. this is a 13 year old car and i really know a way to fix this.:) oh and you do have to bleed the system every time you are doing work on it. alwys bvleed the brake system and pps system to ger tid of all the bubbles (changin brake pads is the exception)
  22. i would love to have fine dining every day but it empties the pocket pretty fast so i have to eat all kinds of food. i love outback steak house and olive garden
