  1. Just had a few cents to add in if noone minds. First, i realize that the S-AFC isnt the best fuel management system, but it does have a few good points. It can read pressure from the AFM but the accuracy is dependant on the AFM. There is a slight delay, but you can do a 60 second record for a single sensor and you can see the boost changes through that also. As for running too lean, i figure that if youre on the razor's edge to where you might blow an engine youre probably not a street driver. What kind of situation would that have to be in for it to run lean like that? I mean, my boost comes on around 3k and it will continue to climb slowly after that, but if you downshift, you get into the fuel curve cause youll be at higher RPMs and the boost will rise. If you upshift, it would have to be something like 8k in second going into fifth gear and the turbos wont sustain that boost with the low RPMs anyways. Maybe im missing something, but im not too worried about the fixed fuel curve. You make a good point about the Haltech, but for me, a regular street person and sometime drag, the $200 Apexi is good enough for me
  2. Just get one of those electric fan "turbochargers" from ebay...or just get the speaker that makes the BOV sound...thats the cheapest
  3. To my knowledge, the R154 is the only manual offered for the 1JZs life span, but its a JZ so the 2jzs trannies should bolt up to it
  4. I admit, i love the way the back end is on the car and thats why its so damn hard to find anything that wont jack it up. But i have to disagree on the speed issue. I mean, whats the point of having 3-400hp if you cant use it. Besides, i get up to 180kph pretty damn fast and thats on Okinawan roads which have no straights on them at all. Unless you risk the highway. I heard theres some ungodly fast undercover cop car there so i stay off. Some Speed Racer RacerX stuff from what i hear. One minute youre doing 230kph and the next hes on your rear with a light...
  5. I know on Okinawa the R154 is like seeing a tall japanese person. It just doesnt happen. You can get em, but its around 900 while the Nissan trans is around 300. Thats just for five speed too. The Aussies are always braggin about bein able to get the 6s though
  6. Youre talkin aboot the getrag 6-speed, right? The one that aboot $2k? It was designed for the 2jz, as was the A341? auto trans which fits the 1jz...so A=B=C
  7. oh, my bad. ill try to ambigously describe it next time B)
  8. Honestly, youre never going to find an american site that advertises 1JZ parts. most of the time its going to be a 2jz part that is compatible. you can go to www.raceeng.com or Horsepower Freaks, Titan Motorsports (.com for both). Dont forget about the UK and Australia also as they had the JDM Soarers imported to there. The best AUS site that ive seen is ********. They have a huge forum for the 1jz and any question that you have has already been asked there probably.
  9. You could replace a strut with a linear actuator, but thats going to be about $300
  10. If they made stockers in a 10 or 12 inch width then sure id pick em up, but they just arent wide enough out back
  11. Im tellin ya, i have the 1jz and i can find any part i want. I may not be able to go to AutoZone and pick it up that day, but the parts arent the mysetrious pot of gold that people make them out to be. I mean, its a toyota for gods sake, you can find something compatible, but it wont have a huge sign that says" I go with a 1jz!!!"
  12. You know, when i shop for parts, all the ones i get are from the states. If i find something locally(in japan) ill price it in the states too. All of the jz's are pretty interchangable. Cost depends on how top-end you want to go also
  13. My first thought was, "hey those look pertty good." My next thought was, "those would look alot better in 20s"....I dont know..i think style rims are better in a bigger size and the sportier rims in a smaller 18 and below. but yeah, they look pretty good. just have to post a pic when theyre on the car
  14. Well, i totally agree with you! I mean, on my Grand Prix, there is no reason to get a wing on there and there is no wing that would look good on those curves, BUT...i hate to say it, but currently, my Soarer handles like CRAP at high speeds. I mean, low speeds its nothing to scream about, but high speeds are dangerous. High speeds meaning 90+. So, i am justified a spoiler...has to be C/F to match the trunk when it comes though
  15. I can see the resemblance to the R33 spoiler, but around here the RXs have some wild stuff for spoilers
  16. Reason i ask is that my friend at work knows the guy in Kong Kong that makes the hybrid ICs but these things are monsters..i think it was 600x300x80...give or take some... For 650 with tubes, thats a good price in my opinoin. Do you think there would be any needs for cooling system mods with an IC like that blocking the radiator? By mods i mean aluminum radiator or some hood mods.....
  17. yeah, thats the one i was talkin aboot. i like takahiro's, but damn, $1300??? there comes a point when its just not worth it
  18. What size of IC did you end up getting and what kind of boost do you plan on if you dont mind me askin. Im debating on the size of FMIC depending on what i can fit behind the stock bumper
  19. A good spoiler is D1 Takahiro's dry carbon one. it looks pretty bad on his soarer except it costs about 1300 from GTP. Theres another one that i was thinkin of where the sides of it start off lower than the center , but the back is at the same level. does anyone know what im talking aboot?
  20. My soarer does that too. whenever i go over the spike strips(the correct way) itll scrunch when it goes down and also on this one dip in the road. i bought it used and it had an aftermarket suspension set-up on it so i dont know what it has on right now. it rebounds fairly nicely but the handling overall sucks compared to my Grand Prix. i may have to take a look at my bushings...thats a good idea
  21. I think i ended up buying one for a toyota, but ill go to the store today or tomorrow and see if i can find which one it was
  22. YES there is a wiring kit. The only kind of wiring kit ever available is just a factory harness adaptor. Its easily labeled as will the aftermarket radio harness. Its like....i dont know...something simple to connect. Whatever..but you get what i mean. You can pay the shops to do it, but its easy to do on your own.
  23. Make sure you have both front tires off the ground when you put that in... Actually, you might now want to do that depending on how strong that bar is. If you want it for show then i guess put it on when the tires are on the ground. The good thing about ugly bars is they usually work good. The bars for by Grand Prix were only $12 GM parts. $88 for both powdercoated with mounting brackets
  24. Unlike you silly americans, i have the 1JZ!!!!! (insert evil laugh here) For now, i have the stock turbos (CT12a), monstrous cat-back exhaust, and a mild intake mod. I should have the fuel rail, AVC-R, and exhaust cam in soon. I know i dont really need the fuel rail, but i bid on it and then was outbid, but the guy retracted his bid so i won it anyways. Figure i may as well put it in now. The AFC adds a nice kick on the top end for me. Once it gets to turbo range (3k-5k) it pulls good and once it gets to AFC range(5k-8k) it pulls harder. i havent even seen third gear yet unless im going less than half throttle and ive been up to 160kph
  25. I have a Kenwood Excelon in mine. I found a wiring adaptor but you still have to connect the kenwood wires to the adaptor. not that hard, but it beats cutting the stock connector. Havent really looked for anything to fill the holes yet...maybe ill put the Apexi there. have you tried Crutchfield.com?
