  1. Pull out the fuel pump fuel pump/guage removal and clean it.
  2. Fog lights are definately whiter/brighter. I wish they were driving lights instead. I'm not sure a picture would show anything.
  3. I just replaced my plugs with Iridiums. Getting the throttle body off was a royal pain. My biggest problem was getting the coolant hose off. The clamp was installed upside down and it took a good two hours of wrangling to get it off. It was difficult to get back on also but maybe only a 1/2 hour of cussing. Did you happen to cover your alternator? If not, that could be contributing to your trouble.
  4. I just installed Sylvania Silverstar H3 bulbs in my fog lights. The underside splash shields on both sides had to come off. There are two 10MM nuts holding the fog lights in place as well as an 8MM bolt that installs from the top. The driver's side is a little more difficult because of A/C plumbing but it's not bad. I removed the light housings to gain access to the bulbs. It seemed easier that way. Swapped out the bulbs and reinstalled housings. Maybe 45 minutes. There is also an adjustment screw that I cranked up about 1 1/2 turns. The test will be tonite, I have to be at work at 3 A.M. I'll repost with the results tomorrow.
  5. In the process of changing spark plugs and cables I noticed that the back side of throttle blade and intake tract from there back was coated with a black, thick gummy substance. :o I cleaned it with throttle body cleaner. Could this have been caused by a bad PCV valve? Anything else?
  6. I did a throttle body bypass on my Corvette. The coolant hoses were a bit bigger on it. I've thought of doing it on the Lexus, we'll see later today. I did notice that the throttle body bore and back of throttle body plate were covered in a black tar-like crud. Washed it off with carb cleaner. Maybe that will cure the sticking throttle problem I was having. Time for some seafoam.
  7. I jumped in feet first on changing spark plugs and plug wires. Wow. What a chore. The main problem I am had was getting the throttle body coolant hose off ( the one above the spark plugs). The clamp ends were facing down and I fiddled with it for almost an hour. Finally got it off, changed the plugs and wires (thank God Toyota put new seperator clips on the new wires) and am now in the process of putting it back together. I can't get the coolant hose to go back on the fitting. Trying to compress the clamp while also pushing the hose back on is something a mortal being can't do alone. Plus there is no room to work. Anyone have a suggestion? If all else fails I'll take the hose off the other end and pull the throttle body completely off and do it that way.
  8. I just finished my BFI intake. I used a cutoff wheel to carve out the front of the air cleaner assembly. If I were to do it again I would probably use a hole saw or jig saw. Little black plastic bits are all over the place. My question is: Has anyone removed the screen from the intake immediately after the air flow sensor? It's a common mod on C4 Corvettes. Probably not worth a lot and I would only consider doing it if I was pursueing all out power. What about removing the air box completely and extending an air intake tube with a cone filter down in front of the ducting next to the fog lights?
  9. I bought a 3M kit and installed all the little pieces. Didn't want to attempt the hood. I only had the RX for about a year and had no problems. Looking back I'm sure I could have done the hood. I doubt if I would attempt the bumper.
  10. One possibility is a simple recharge. But that begs the question: Why did it leak?
  11. Pass. rear, Driver's rear, pass. front, then driver's front is the usual order. I use an old turkey baster to suck out as much of the old brake fluid out of the master cylinder first and then top it off with new fluid and then proceed to bleed the brakes. If you use a clear plastic hose on the bleeder you can see when new fluid is pumped out of the caliper as well as any air bubbles. ;)
  12. Anyone switch their daytime running lights? I really don't care for the stock dull "yellow" color.
  13. Makes me wish there was two of them. Have a demolition derby!
  14. I got all my Silverstars on Ebay. Pepboys and Checker carry them also.
  15. I just changed my headlights to Sylvania Silverstars. I like the brighter white color. Brembo rotors are good as are the Powerslots. Some stuff on Ebay are import junk. You would probably be better off with a name brand. You can get Toyota shocks from any of the recommended vendors.
  16. I'm not sure this applies to the RX but I doubt if the manufacturer is differentoil filter
  17. The gasket that seals the trunk may be bad. Check the gasket closely for cuts, nicks or brittleness. You may also have an opening in the wheel well.
  18. Other than the BFI, I would think the best bang for the buck would be an electric fan. I put one on my S-10 Blazer and the fuel savings went up 1.5 mpg.
  19. Sounds like a good idea. Might be a lot of work for the web master though.
  20. With the keyless remote, clock and cd changer on board there is a constant drain (although small) on the battery. You should be able to jump start the vehicle and then drive it for about thirty minutes. Should be fine. Either drive it once a week or disconnect the battery if it will be awhile between starts.
