  1. Thanks for the useful info! I kinda knew all along that we had open diffs but it does spin both tires sometimes.
  2. If you want faster 0-60, look into a differential. If you don't know what that means.....read about it. :D
  3. Just find a powerseller and check his feedback. The powerseller should have over 1000 feedbacks and at least 95% positive. Read the negatives. That should start you off. There's another set of springs....starts with an E but I can't remember the name. Those drop a little over 1".
  4. I was thinking that at 6 psi I don't really need any fuel-management that reads boost. I can just use the SAFC and get it properly tuned. Only problem with that would show up if the wastegate didn't do it's job, and I got more or less than my expected 6 psi at some point in time. This is quite a bit in the future, so I'm not too worried about it yet. When I gather enough funds, I'll be looking more closely at the details.
  5. As often as you have to open the hood on a Lexus I think you guys can just help the hood up with your hand. Just my opinion.
  6. I truly believe we have a LSD but if so, it is a one way. I have not found any documentation to back any of this but just from driving (can't really call a burnout driving) I have noticed that sometimes the car will spin both wheels which makes me think that there is a hint of LSD. Interesting topic for which no one seems to have a solid answer. They should have just made them LSD.
  7. If I have the time this weekend, I'm going to be redoing my exhaust. I plan on taking everything behind the 3rd catalytic converter off and replacing with a Y-Pipe splitting into 2.5" pipes that will run straight back to my MagnaFlow 14829 Mufflers. I've heard this setup on an SC400 and it sounds amazing. The mufflers can be obtained for about $250 for the pair, and the piping can be redone at a local muffler shop for another $200-300 So for the price of the Borlas(just mufflers), you could have a completely redone system which breathes much better. I'll let you guys know how my install goes so you can decided whether this is something you'd be interested in.
  8. Hey AJ, What problems does the OBD-II in 96+ SCs present? I gave it some thought and see no problems as far as the OBD-II is concerned. I've got 125K on the car right now, and I know that putting on a turbo at this point would be pointless. So I'm saving money for a rebuild and DaveH's beginner kit. I'm planning to start off with very mild boost (6psi) and use my SAFC-II with stock injectors to deliver the gas it needs. In the future, I'll be replacing injectors, installing a pump, etc. What do you think of this? ~Alan
  9. Not on current car but had it on my previous ride. I prefer 2.0 because then I know for a fact that both wheels are getting equal power at all times. I hate traction control systems and open differentials because they're freakin unpredictable. Thank god my SC is a 5spd so there's no traction control. After I go turbo, will definitely be looking into a TT Supra LSD My $.02
  10. I don't understand how these people aren't getting arrested and dragged off to jail for fraud. Tracing someone on the internet isn't all that difficult these days. I don't get it.
  11. LOL. I'd worry more about the powerseat positions. (Make sure you program it after the Battery has been disconnected)
  12. Shiny mufflers. :D I just snagged a pair of Magnaflow 14829s off eBay. Will let you guys know how that goes. I plan to get rid of the resonators on both sides since they're not an emissions requirement and I want a deeper tone from the Magnas.
  13. I've heard people tell amazing stories of both speakers blowing at the same time. I don't believe a word of it but thought I'd give you some useless info. :D Once you've got it taken apart, the easiest way to test a speaker is to connect the 2 wires to a 9V battery. It should make a thump. If it doesn't, the coil is blown. Otherwise, there should be about 3V in the wires coming to the speaker when the system is turned up moderately. If there isn't....trace it from there. Good luck.
  14. Not suggested because of possible injuries and particles going places they shouldn't be. A nice plumbers wrench should do the trick. I'm really considering an oil filter relocation kit.
  15. Harsh. I'd have to agree with SCoupe here. I thought about a spoiler and really considered the SC400 w/Brakelight. But then I stood behind my car for a while, and realised that I love the back just the way it is. As for handling at high speeds, drop the car and get some decent coilovers. My car is stable at speeds upward of 130 MPH....if you need to go any faster, you should really ask yourself why.
  16. Grrrr.....was just about to buy it when they upped the price from $39.99 to $79.99 DAMN IT!
  17. I like those kinds of rims on SUVs. SCs need more preformance-centered rims. Although I'm not sure I'm one to talk: :D
  18. I can get you links to some nice Hennesey Vipers and a Buggati Veyrons but this is a Lexus forum. Here we drool over Lexuses, not fords. P.S. Plural of Lexus? Lexuses? Lexi?
  19. When I first bought the SC3 I was pretty surprised by the handling considering it's a heavy luxury car. At the time it had the Eibachs but was on stock 16"s. Then I went up to 18"s and the handling changed quite a bit. Steering takes a tad bit more effort now but the car takes corners like none I've ever driven before. Never driven the IS so can't really comment there.
  20. You mean the pedal vibrates under your foot? Check if there is any vibration at that same RPM in the next (or previous) gear.
  21. To stay away from Civic bashing, I'll say: "Those belong on a Ford Festiva!" :D
  22. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAP...item=2461914650 That's the McCulloch kit I bought. Works very well and I recommend it.
  23. Emptying the tank won't help much and is bad for your car. Even if you get the tank empty, there'll still be fuel in the lines. If you try to purge it compltetely dry, you'll be messing up your motor. Do what I mentioned before. Pinch the lines on both sides with needle-nose clamps. Kinda like a beer bong. :D
  24. Good point. Here in California the Premium now runs for about $2.10/gal That's a $40 tank of gas. But then again, at 16 you'll probably be getting a handy Platinum joint account card for all your gas needs.
