  1. The part closest to you is held by 2 clips. Just lift up and they should pop out (one of mine broke but I dodn't know if it was preventable) Then the whole thing slides out toward you. Don't pull too hard because the wire for the light might be very short. There's a disconnect clip so that you can put the 3rd brakelight away while working. Good luck and let me know if you run into any issues.
  2. I'm running the older version of the Punch P3002 There are no rattles outside the car but if the windows are rolled down, you can hear a slight increase in bass. Surprisingly, the increase in bass is mostly heard in front of the car (I'd expect it to be louder near the trunk) which I'm guessing is due to the fact that the bass reflects off the back window and bounces forward. It's a great setup.....I don't think I could be happier.
  3. Is it just me or is this the exact opposite of what should be done? You don't cut fuel under boost! AHHHH!
  4. Ok. And now I'm trying to figure out how you decided that I wasn't one of the people that was saving trunk space. I've replaced the stock 10" twice now.....first time I did a half assed job with the obviously wrong sub....sounded ok but rattled a bit and looked like *BLEEP* (brakelight had to be lifted) Then I redid the whole job with a rockford 10" that fit freakin PERFECTLY and powered it by a Rockford 300 watt amp. Sounds really clean and surprisingly deep for a free-air setup. If you're interested, I can get you the model # of the sub but Rockford has updated their lineup and discontinued that model so it would be a !Removed! to find. edit: I think I found the new equivalent of the sub I used: http://www.rockfordfosgate.com/products/ez...ch%20Subwoofers Great thing about it is it's small mounting depth (gotta clear that gas tank).
  5. Nothing beats factory repair manuals. I just missed my chance to pick up all 3 volumes for $100. Dumbass. Just keep looking, you'll find em.
  6. bstein: I'd like to let you in on a little secret I discovered a few weeks ago. Bolt-on mufflers are too expensive. Do a search for "14829" and check out the pics. If that's close to what you're looking for than go for it. It'll run you cheaper and prolly sound better too.
  7. I've got the sine waves. Send me a dB meter and I'll send you a lot more than one graph. :D Seriously though, do you expect there not to be as much of a difference as we "think" there is? I know for a fact that my music sounds fuller, deeper, and a bit louder. Before I got the sub, no-one ever said anything about my stereo, and now I've had many compliments on how my "stock" stereo sounds.
  8. They replace the stock bulbs. No retrofitting necessary, although it would increase the efficiency.
  9. I am also a proud owner of one of these McCulloch kits. I bought one about a week after Magat. Has been working flawlessly and I love the color as well as the light output.
  10. $165 for a pair does sound like a gread deal. Got mine for $200 and am happy because I've heard of people paying $250+ I decided not to change the piping because I'm convinced that with the cut resonators and the straight-through mufflers, most of the backpressure in the exhaust is now caused by the cats. I don't want to touch the cats because I'm in California, where emissions laws are extremely strict. I love the way it sounds now and feel no need to change anything. I also noticed that it's been slowly getting louder over the past few days.
  11. I don't have a BFI setup as of yet as I'm still trying to decide what I want to do. I was going to do the BFI 3 but I realized that I really love that sound a real CAI makes. I will not spend $250 on the useless short ram Injen. I've found this really great article on making your own CAI: http://www.clublexus.com/index.php/article...view/2240/1/72/ It's basically taking some cheap civic intake mipes and connecting them together to make one long one with the MAF in the middle. The pipe goes down under the headlight and the filter is placed in that chamber just above the foglight. I'll use the AEM bypass valve to protect myself from puddles and such. If you have no imagination and can't picture what that looks like, but are still too lazy to click the link, here's a picture of the end product: I found out a few days ago that I'm jobless as of the end of this week, so this might have to wait.
  12. Trust was it? Hey AJ: You have just one extra injector?
  13. Do a search in our forum for "gte" and you should get plenty of usefull information.
  14. Using Mobil 1 synthetic oil with a fram filter is a waste of money in my opinion. Just go to your local Toyota dealer. I buy my filters for $12/set of 3 Same price as fram but I know I'm getting genuine toyota quality.
  15. I've got a 96 SC300 5spd and I've noticed the same phenomenon. One more thing I noticed is after this ECU reset, the car will idle at a much lower RPM. Only thing that sucks is the ECU relearns within a couple of days. I'll play with it some more and see if it might be worthwhile to install a switch that'll cut the power to the ECU. That would be pretty funny though. You're standing at a red light, the guy next to you revs his engine. You rev yours to accept the challenge. To your opponents surprise, you then proceed to shut off your car. Wouldn't want to cut power to the ECU while your car is on. :P
  16. As mentioned above, I replaced the resonators (cans closest to the mufflers) with straight pipes. I had the shop weld on some hangers onto my MagnaFlows and hung them using the original mounts. As for price, some good news. The seller I bought from has stocked 2 more: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAP...item=2466799889 Nowhere else have I seen a pair of these go for under $250 and the shipping is free. Good luck. Bubbles: UPS says that the whole package (each muffler was in it's own box) weighed 31 lbs but the mufflers seemed much lighter. Just the replacement of the resonators with straight pipes saves a good 10 lbs and costs no more than $50. It also lets the exhaust flow a bit more freely. I recommend taking off the resonators even to people who aren't going to do anything to the mufflers.
  17. I've been told that the Magnas break in over a period of about 6 months. It sounds beautiful now and it will only get deeper and a tad louder. When the car was first fired up at the shop after install, I was a little disappointed because it sounded very close to stock but I remended myself of the 6-month period. It's only been less than a week and it already sounds great. It was definitely one of the best purchases I've made. I don't think I could be happier with the set-up. Couldn't agree with you more. If only that "Whoooopsh" didn't have a $5000 + few weeks downtime associated with it. Some day....
  18. The stock Toyota/Lexus filter has been DYNO proven to outperform the K&N. I'd go into detail why the K&N isn't that great but at the moment I'm really lazy. Sadistic is right about mods narrowing your market size for the car. This is the reason I decided to do my own CAI from scratch. This way, when (actually IF) I ever decide to sell the car, a few screws and bolts and the oroginal setup is back in place looking stock as ever and I have in my hands a ready-to-install CAI for my next SC300 (don't have to do the BFI again). That's just me though.
  19. Hint Hint. If you're actually too lazy to click the "here" above than I won't try to talk you into it because this is a do-it-yourself type thing. If you know what you're doing, this would come out looking really nice and would definitely yield some results.
  20. It sounds awesome! I'll try to get some sound clips......dunno how but I'll try. Here's a sound clip of a 93 SC300 with the same mufflers and I think he also cut the resonators. In my opinion, my car isn't quite as loud. 2 thing that could be the reason: 1) He replaced all his piping from the cat back with 2.5" 2) His mufflers have been on for a while and have been properly broken in. Mine are less than a week old.
  21. Hey Guys, Been promising some pics of my new exhaust setup but haven't had the time to take the pics. Yesterday was a beautiful day, so I decided to make the time and snap off a few pictures. If anyone cares, the mufflers are MagnaFlow part # 14829. I had the resonators cut off and replaced by straight pipes. Money Shot Side View Piping Couple more random pics. Before going this route, I was seriously considering the Borlas. Then I heard from a few people that MagnaFlows made a pretty nice sound especially when the resonators are removed. I got a great deal on the Mags so I went for it. The sound is beautiful. I was afraid it would sound a bit ricey, but it doesn't. At idle, can't even tell it's modded. At an unchanging RPM, there's a slight hint that somethings different. It's when the RPM is quickly increasing or decreasing that it ROARS. Lemme know what you guys think of the look. 22. Cold Air Intake (CAI) is better but there isn't one offered for our cars (yet). Only intake we can readily get is the Injen and that's a short Ram Intake. I'm planning to make my own cold air intake following the instructions found here. As for the strut bar, I bought a used one off eBay for $30 (Here's a pic.) You can get the one on ProCarParts.com ($80) Hope that helps. Luck to you.
  23. Just installed my MaganaFlow mufflers and replaced the resonators with straight pipes. Sounds awesome. I had no idea an SC300 could sound like that. part # for the Magnas is 14829 I got them really cheap ($200 for the pair...shipped) Installation at a local shop (including the resonator delete) was $100 I was gonna buy the Borlas at first but for a much better price I think I got a sound and performance boost much better than the one I would have gotten if I just went with the Borla axle-back bolt-ons. I'll post pictures in this thread tonight when I get home. =) I'd record the sound but I don't have a digital recorder and I don't think this sound can be properly conveyed through computer speakers.
  24. Did you check the fuses inside the car? They're located underneath the dash by your left foot (in left-hand-drive cars anyways)
  25. Thanks for the input guys. I actually bought my SAFC-II for $250(used) so if I do decide to go the Haltech or e-Manage route, I can re-sell it and probably not lose anything. Found out today that I might be out of a job soon though so I guess that doesn't help my boost dreams. On a good note: Got my MagnaFlows installed a few days ago. I promise I'll take pictures and write a few words. To summarise: :D :D :D :D :D x10
