  1. Wow that exact same thing happened to me! I was driving down the fwy, tuned off the stereo, then it wouldn't turn back on. There was just an odd character showing on the screen. To fix it, all I had to do was take out and reinsert all the fuses protecting the radio. It was odd, since none of the fuses were blown, I guess there was just a bad connection or something. The fuse that was loose was in the fuse box located just inside the carpeting to the left of your left foot while you're driving. Just pull the carpet back, and the fuse box will be right there. I forget exactly which fuse it was, but there should be a diagram of them either on the cover or the inside of the fuse box, or inside of the owner's manual under electrical. Locate the fuse, see if it is blown or not, then replace the fuse. If that doesn't work, do the same thing with the fuses in the main fuse box next to the battery under the hood. All I had to do was take the fuse out and put it back in, it wasn't blown or anything. If you can't find out what fuse it was, I can get the owner's manual from my car for you. Very very weird, my cd changer still worked just like yours. Hopefully it's the same problem and you can fix it. Good luck.
  2. Hey if you get them installed, please be sure to let everyone know how it went and how they look, I'm very interested in doing that too, white back with blue needles... :D Pictures would be awesome too, thanks!
  3. Yeah Ipods are cool, but my point was that it's not cheaper when there are hundreds of different mp3 head units you can install for less money, or you can just get satellite radio and not have to even buy music to put onto the mp3 player, you just pay the monthly charge for a variety of different types of music. Plus I don't want to have to switch things between cars. but that's just my opinion. Does anyone have pictures of their aftermarket head units online? Any ideas would be cool. Thanks :D
  4. Is there anything you can recommend that will work better? The matching texture is appealing but not if it's a pos
  5. Alicias - where did they put the antenna for the sirius? Do you happen to know if there are any antennas that don't have to be mounted on the body of the car? I've seen them on the roof and trunk of many people's cars, but I don't think I would be happy with that. Buying an Ipod doesn't seem that much cheaper to me. Although the player is only $400, you still have to pay for the music, whether you rip it from your own cd's, download it, etc. (unless you do it illegally of course :whistles: ). An aftermarket head unit, on the other hand, can be installed for $400, and 10 bucks a month gives you access to all types of new and old music, without having to download, rip, etc. I also like the fact that you don't choose what music you listen to, it exposes you to much more than you would be than choosing your own playlists. I guess it comes down to individual needs, but aftermarket head units and possibly satellite radio are the best choice for me.
  6. Theodore - even though it is low quality, does the texture match the rest of the dash? the picture on their site looks like it's a pretty close match to stock. Also, what do you mean by cheap? does it feel like it's gonna break in half? It shouldn't have to support any load from the head unit, so it shouldn't be a problem, hopefully, or is it really that bad? Do you have any pictures posted?
  7. Is this the piece you were looking for? http://www.sc400tuner.com/2003/SC400tuners.htm unfortunately it says it's out of stock
  8. Is all that information for the nakamichi stereo? If so, that's just the information i'll be needing soon...thanks for the great info.
  9. funny stuff: although I never tried this with the stock keyless entry, i've found that if i press the new remote to the upper part of my neck, I get tons of extra range. I'm not kidding, it really works. Try it for yourself, as you're approaching your car, hold the remote to your neck and press the button. When you hear the locks open, take it away from your neck and try to lock it again, it wont work :D Do it when there's nobody watching though, they might look at you funny. I guess your body acts as an antenna or something.
  10. yep, i remember him saying some outrageous amount of horsepower, but i couldnt remember the exact quote. AWJ: There's another car like this one out there? any pics of it?
  11. I'm saving up for the Kenwood, hopefully soon i can afford it :( I heard that when swapping head units you have to do something with the factory alarm system, otherwise your car won't start. Does anyone know anything about this, or would I have to take it to a shop to do it?
  12. That very same thing was driving me nuts, so I went to a local audio shop and had them install an aftermarket alarm system, now it works across the parking lot, the lights flash, and it chirps. The aftermarket alarm actually offers some degree of protection between the starter kill and shock sensor. I turned off the factory keyless entry with the small switch by the trunk pop and gas door opener. Everything works perfectly... I love it. Only cost a few hundred too.
