  1. Well I know that I will not take one of my cars to a Jiffy Lube. If you think the service is the same then you can go for it. There are some good people that work at Jiffy Lubes but many times you have somebody that knows much less than you do working on your car. I will give you a little example. My wife decided she was going to suprise me and get the oil changed and tires rotated on the rx330. She called me to let me know that she was there. I had told her that I only use synthetic oil actually in that car amsoil in it. So she wanted to let me know that the jiffy lube "tech" told her that if she was only using the car for short distances "city" driving not highway driving then she should use regular oil "Dino" oil? I asked her "WHAT". I told her get the car out of there now. Do not let them touch it. What idiot thinks that it would be better to use regular oil and not synthetic oil in a car? When I was in was in high school I actually had a job at a Jiffy Lube too. My mom knew the guy who owned it. I could tell you quite a few more reasons not to take your car to one! It is your car so hey if you want to be cheap on the service go for it. I would recommend you find a good indi and use them. That is what I do for the BMW and the past few services on the rx330.
  2. Not sure but the inside mirror has a button that you can press from memory I think green is on. This is the center rear view mirror. I know that is the auto dimming feature for that mirror not sure if it controls the outside ones too. Are you sure they are not just tilted down? I am do not remember my rx330 ever getting dark mirrors maybe I did not pay attention.
  3. Kyle sound like your parents are real smart people! lol Enjoy the car. I enjoy my toys too. I just am amazed by how many parents will co sign a loan for something that they think is a bad idea. ( not talking about you Kyle ) I see parents that end up with a car that they don't want but end up paying for because they have signed their name on it. I know that I will never co sign any loan for my kids. I never needed my parents to co sign for me and since I was 19 - 20 I could get loans with no problem. Kyle if you saw some of the business loans that I have and just the bills that come in to my business it would make you fall out. When I bought the business and the bank sat down to look over my finances I was given a 250k loan for the downpayment with not much more than a handshake from the President of a bank. I am not against buying or leasing a nice car just don't strap yourself for a car. And I hear you saying that you can afford it. How long could you afford it if you lost your job? That is something that most 20 year olds don't consider. "what can I afford monthly" This old man (31) won't bust your balls anymore. Have fun you are only young once then in a blink of an eye you will be telling some 20 year old this! Be sure to post some pics of the new ride!!!
  4. Kyle trust me you are taking it the wrong way. If you work hard and that is what you want to spend your money on then do it. It is your choice. You said that you can not afford $900 a month payments yourself so therefore you are leasing the car. I will bet that most people will agree with me that this is a bad financial move. 20 years old and you have 3 credit cards and you can't finance a 50k car then the fact is that you can't afford a 50k car and that is why the bank is requiring a co signer. So what happens if you get laid off is your mom supposed to make the payments on your car? Look I am not trying to tell you what to do. I am glad you are working and have a good job that is more than an awful lot of people can say. So get the car and enjoy it. All I know is that you do not want to have to work to make payments! That is a fact and if you get in that position you won't enjoy that car as much as a paid off Hyundai.
  5. I did some checking on Lease vs Finance, they had crazy low finance rates (.9% for 60 months) but they payments would be almost $900/mo and I can't afford that, the lease is about $250 less per month. Kyle first off if you get the car congrats. What I am going to post next is just my opinion. My sister in law is kind of looking at doing something similar and I have been talking to her about it. One she is my sister in law and two I am her boss. I will give you the same advise I have given her even though you did not ask for it. If you can not get the car on your own you don't need to get it. I am sorry you do not need to go and get a BMW if mommy has to co sign for the loan. I feel that considering it is a lease then that is even more reason that if you cant get it on your own you dont need it. Leasing a car for over 650 a month and you can't write off the lease payments is not a great idea. I am sure that you can make the payments but why to have a new car? Now having said this it is your money, and your life so do what you want. I am not trying to be a jerk but just posting a honest observation. Maybe you are rolling in the dough ...and you can laugh at me! I do know this much there is no way the payments should be 900 a month financing this car at .9%. Are you putting anything down? What is the purchase price?
  6. The warranty is transferable. You can have Toyota do the services anytime if you want. It will save you some $$$. As far as the price check edmunds and kbb maybe some others will chime in. There is a guy named Toby on this site that sells Lexus extended warranties you may want to do a search. Good luck.
  7. I just bought a gps and it confirmed what I suspected for awhile, my speedometer is off about 2 mph also. Reads 37 vs. 35 on gps. I checked the speed of my 2010 ES350 with my Garmin from Walmart and Lexus was also off by 2 mph. :) You and that Garmin! 2 mph? I am kind of in the middle on this one. I want the mph correct but then again if it is only off by 2 mph I can't see making a huge deal about it.
  8. And they use dawn to get oil off of the oil spill animals too. But on a serious note. The same thing that slim Jim is saying is what I have heard about neutrogena. I learned this from family that owns a furniture business and they swore by it so I tried it and it works great. Think about it cleans oil and is gentle enough for your face. It also works on microfiber great too. My little boy got ahold of a ball point pen and drew all over my sectional! Came right out! Neutrogena.
  9. My new GX is a HD based system so no disc at all...is the HS the same?
  10. I don't know it is ok with out it but I think it looks beter on.
  11. Well just hit 1k on my new 2010 GX460 Premium Package…here is what I think Engine and Tranny ·As soon as you start the engine up you get that nice throaty V8 sound. Funny my little boy almost 3 years old daddy make your car go ROOM ROOM… ·For a good size, heavy SUV…this thing moves pretty good. Seems to have good acceleration from a stop and even better when overtaking another car. · I do not tow anything or have any desire too so can’t comment on this. ·6 speed transmission shifts flawlessly. I have been waiting for the tranny to act like it is not sure which gear to drop into or shift up into as the RX330 used to do…and not one time has there been any hesitation whatsoever. ·Gas mileage is OK for the size. Handling ·Suspension- Coming from driving a X5 for over a year and before that a C class and RX330 this is a much different ride than either of the others obviously. I have also driven a 2005 GX470 quite a few times. The 2010 GX 460 rides nothing like a RX you absolutely do not have the car suv, or the minivan feel whatsoever and trust me I love the ride of the RX. This is more of a Truck suv. The new suspension in the GX compared to its predecessor is a huge improvement little bumps were absorbed well depending on the setting of the suspension. The GX seems solid and I am still trying to find the setting I like the most more of the comfort or the middle setting. I don't think I like the Sport setting because then I feel every little bump. But in higher speed situations it handles better not as much body roll. Appearance ·IT IS NOT A 4 RUNNER! Just kidding…I keep hearing how it resembles a 4 runner. Well sure it does but it is not a 4 runner. Side by side I do not think that they look as much alike as people think. I am biased! ·I love the front it looks mean. ·Tires/wheels…I like the look of the GX but when looking at it side on it seems as if the body sits up just a little higher then it should. I think this is the only change I would make…put a bigger wheel tire combo or lower the GX down just a little. It doesn’t bother me and I am sure that I will not be changing anything on my GX just a comment. Interior/room/storage ·Leather seats…are beautiful, leather quality feels good love the air cooled seats. Have not had the need for the heated seats yet! ·Love the nickel finish on doors and dash. ·Nav…wow what a difference from my 04 RX330. The only complaint would be big brother Lexus…please allow me to use features while driving. Picture on screen is amazing, ML is amazing, love the usb input, bluetooth great, NAV traffic, weather great. Still playing with some features. 3rd row seats…this is much better then the previous GX. However if you put the seats up you have no cargo space…well not much anyway. My only complaint would be that the cargo area should have non slip flooring. It is such a big area stuff slides all over the place I guess I could get a rear mat. My little list of areas that could be improved. Radio knob…I have hit this numerous times and cut off the stereo with my knee…terrible location. I have moved my seat and still can somehow hit this. Upholstery for the ceiling…I think that it should be the darker such as the carpet not the color of the seat. Lock out feature of NAV…I know it will never happen…but I can still WISH! Voice Commands…well it works…but when I can use other Voice commands on things such as the I phone and it will recognize 99% of what I say…I think that this can be improved. Maybe a software upgrade. Rear gate…ha ha door! Well this has grown on me…I thought I would hate it. I actually have found that I like the ease of it. I think it would be better if the door dropped such as the X5 I have vs the power lift gate on the RX…but I do not mind the swing gate door that the GX has…
  12. Here is a post that may help you too. http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=62064
  13. Jen- I use the Meguiars conditioners as well not the wipes but I have used them before on other cars. I don't think that you will have a problem with them but wipes are not the same as a good conditioner. The wipes are fine for cleaning up with but you should still use a good leather conditioner too. There are better cleaners and conditioners that you can use but Mequiars products are ok to use...
  14. PM DC...I am sure he can get you what you need. He is the man when it comes to this stuff.
  15. I think that this is more of a question only you can answer. I love my GX...there are people that love their LX...I am sure if you ask we can all give you the reasons to buy one or the other. The GX that you are looking at only has 40k on it...it is 4 years newer than you current LX and I bet that I am safe to say that it has some big improvements vs your current LX...If you like the GX...get it, but if you want the LX just wait. Don't buy a car that you don't want.
  16. Ah yes, the $200 Garmin from Walmart vs the $5000 Lexus Navi System from Hell. See my post on page 5 dated April 4, 2010 for more differences. Easy solution...you should buy a non nav Lexus and put your $200.00 Garmin in it. I happen to like the Lexus Nav system fine... Not easy now that I am stuck with it! BTW, does your Lexus Nav system take you turn by turn to every destination you want it to. Mine doesn't. Does your Lexus Nav system zoom in and out as you enter and leave a city. Mine doesn't. Does your Lexus Nav system offer a 3D view. Mine doesn't. Does your Lexus Nav system show the current speed limit. Mine doesn't. Can you update the maps in your Lexus Nav system monthly. I can't. And most importantly, can you enter data and points of interest in your Lexus Nav system while moving. Mine doesn't. If none of these matter to you, then I can see why the Lexus Nav system is fine for you. I kind of found those features useful. Guess you should have done a little research before you bought your car. The nav system is what it is.
  17. I was thinking the same thing...locking the car arms the alarm...so what would leaving the car unlocked do?
