  1. Just make sure to clean your leather with a mild soap and water first before you apply your leather conditioner. I have actually found that using Neutrogena soap and water (the bar soap) on a soft cloth and then scrubbing the seats is one of the best ways to clean leather or any fabric. Picked up the tip from a furniture store on how to get stains out with out doing damage to the fabric/leather, works on micro fiber too. Neutrogena is a safe mild soap that can be used. After you have cleaned the seats go back over with a damp clean cloth to get all of the remaining soap off and then apply conditioner to the leather. This is the best way to prevent stains in my opinion just keeping the seats clean. Just applying conditioner is not going to clean the seats. But make sure not to use a harsh cleaner as it will do more damage then good. I once heard someone talking about using a MR Clean magic eraser on stains and leather and that is a bad idea.
  2. All I can say bud. You are a patient man. I don't think that I could car shop...this long. I wish I could be this patient when looking for a new car...I think that I would go crazy. Well as you know if mommas not happy well nobodies happy...so if she wants the X3...then the X3 it is. I heard the same things about the V8's in the BMW and the 3.0 drinks enough gas and has plenty of power. I will tell you if you truly plan on using BMW's recommended 1 service a year or 10,000 or 12,000 miles plan on adding a little oil. I get mine changed every 6,500 - 7,500 with Amsoil so I don't usually have a problem with this. Keep us posted!
  3. NC. I love my X5...to be honest I think it is one of my favorite cars...SAV, SUV or whatever it is that I have ever had. The warranty on the BMW's is close to the same as the Lexus CPO...besides a $50.00 deductible. I am sure that you will be offered a maintenance plan as well. I did not purchase it... I have followed the BMW forms and most of the X3 owners seem happy. This is a good one... http://www.xoutpost.com I think you will be fine...with the X3. I am curious is there anything that sways you more to the X3 then the X5? Not trying to get you to change your mind I am just wondering? Price? Size?
  4. NC...wasn't the idea to get rid of the car to have another suv, or wagon? You thinking of (2) new cars?
  5. Tom...I was thinking the same exact thing! CD...looks GREAT.
  6. If yours is like mine then you don't have to eject the dvd and put it back in but rather go into the menu on the dvd player and select the DVD option to view it. PIA. I have gotten to the point that I can do it in the wifeys RX just by reaching back while driving and not looking at it for the little ones in back.
  7. If they fixed it and knocked $1k off I would take the car. They would have to toss in a couple of Lexus shirts and hats too. :whistles:
  8. You know SW...I was in a 08 or 09 loaner...not sure which it was and it was real nice...I kind of have mixed feelings on it though. I actually prefer the ride and handling of the 06 X5 that I have vs. the new loaner that I was in. I will give then new X5 credit...hands down the NAV, overall electronics and interior is far better but as far as the ride and handling mine seems much better. Maybe because my X5 also has the sport package, not sure if the loaner did or not?
  9. Go ahead NC...I know where you are going with this. You are slowly working your way over to one of these... :D :whistles:
  10. Maybe in your state...but I can't imagine so. Absolutely not here in MD. Unless you have rental coverage added on your policy it is not covered for this type of claim. You may be thinking about Uninsured Motorist Claims which the rental would be covered.
  11. I would not even give it a second thought file this on your insurance. Comp claims are not going to mess with your rates...within reason. If you file (3) claims over a 6 month term that may be different. Comp claims can be used to determine levels of claim free discounts and/or tiers that you fall into on new business, and even some times renewals depending on the company but most of the time the impact if any at all is so small it still would be worth it to file the claim. A $50.00 deductible is what I carry as well and it is how I issue most policies too.
  12. They are saying for routine maintenance every 5k...oil change, tire rotation...etc. You can use an independent shop.
  13. Well my X5 not too much. But the wifey's Lexus AKA...baby mobile. Yea...I bet I can find you fries, chicken nuggets, maybe a cheeseburger too! If you have kids you understand. I don't want to say that we don't drive my car with the kids...but we drive her car most of the time!
  14. NC...my neighbor did the same thing on his older Jag. Use what they have in the kit and keep working it. It should appear scratched up but should feel smooth. Then take the finishing polish and polish it back out until it is clear again. He used a buffer on his after he taped the paint up to get his back the way he wanted and they look great now. You could even try Mequires Scratch X if the polish wont take the scratches all of the way out and then go back over with the polish.
  15. Glad that you joined.
  16. Yea. My wife and I had to toss out (3) bottles of medicine that are on this recall list. Her sister had to do the same. Bad thing is that we had just given our little boy one the night before because he had hit his head. What a bunch of BS. NC hope your little man makes out ok...and I am just glad that he is out of the hospital...those little ones are tuff aren't they.
  17. Great to hear NC!
  18. That is a good idea or even take the 2nd door code all of the way out of your homelink system and try it for awhile and that would answer the question. And as LS said if you are not using buttons 1 and 3 I would give that a shot. It could be that simple when you hit button 1 it is causing your 2nd one to get pressed too.
  19. Well I only have a double door myself but what you are saying doesn't make sense. Two doors with different codes and it changes by itself. I wonder if you used the remote they gave you with the garage door if it.would open both. I think I have heard of other peoples doors opening with someone elses remote. That is why they have the rolling codes but I have never heard of the homelink changing the programming on it's own? Man sorry I can't help you out. Maybe someone else can. I guess it's possible that the codes are catching up and it starts opening both but it shouldn't.
  20. just updated mine too. Seems fine now.
  21. Good to hear she is all fixed. I know it is not polite to ask but....what wa$ the damage? Actually $50.00. The BMW cpo program has a $50.00 deduct. that you have to pay. But I did have a small power steering leak that was pointed out the last time I had it serviced. So the tow, loaner, and repairs $50.00.
  22. NC glad to hear that the family is home for now. I was hoping to see a post from you. Take care and get some rest. Hopefully the test Monday will go well and they can get your little man all better.
  23. I am glad the LOC website let me pull this up with out locking up my computer. :chairshot: NC my little man is about the same age as yours. I can't imagine how you and your wife are feeling...your family will be in my prayers. Take care bud...and keep us posted. As far as the health care debate I will not get into it on this post. Only well-wishes for the little man!
  24. And most of the time it gives you a discount back on the auto policy too. Mine is $150.00 a year and it saves me about $40 a year on my auto.
  25. Got my X back today. All it was the ignition switch got it back today kept the loaner for a couple extra days.
