I thought the LS460 has a timing chain which never is scheduled to be replaced. Whether a car has a timing belt or chain, neither is the cause of a rough idle. On those Lexus cars that actually have a timing belt, up to 2006 at least, the replacement interval was 90,000 miles or 6 years. And, yes timing on Lexus cars do "fail" but it's usually not the belt itself that breaks but one of the other normally replaced components in the system that fails.

If you do use the dealer, firmly resist any attempt to "upsell" services to you. Just follow the official maintenance schedule.

What does "Got it working" mean? Through the USB port? Through the aux-in? Wirelessly?

I don't see the iPhone listed on page 291 of your navigation manual as being compatible with a USB connection - only iPods of certain models. I think I see a statement about the iPhone not being compatible on a USB connection: http://drivers.lexus...A78A/pdf/07.pdf Have you tried a wireless audio (Bluetooth A2DP) connection? That's the only way I've been able to stream audio from our phones (iPhone and Droid) to the nav/audio system in our 2012 Prius. But I can plug a simple memory stick or SD card on an adapter into the Prius USB port and have the nav display and play all the audio content on them. I assume you could plug the audio-out (headphone jack) on your iPhone into the 3.5mm audio input jack in your RX .... I can do that with our phones in the Prius but there isn't any reason to do that since the wireless audio connection works great.

More informaiton would have helped ... carrier, exact phone model. Phone compatibility information (which features are supported) can be viewed at https://secure.drive...es/bluetooth.do From what I've seen, 99%+ of issues are due to phone incompatibility or, more commonly, user error.

Does your phone pair at all? Can you make or receive calls via Bluetooth? Do other phone based services such as Pandora work properly? Can you stream music stored on your phone via Bluetooth to your audio system?

If you want to verify your true speed, consider buying an inexpensive portable GPS - Garmin, Magellan, Tom-Tom. The speed display on all the one's we've owned have been more accurate than car speedometers. I probably pay more attention to the speed shown on my Garmin than the speedometer in my LS.

You might check the reviews and customer ratings at http://www.tirerack.com/index_w.jsp I had a set of RE750 on my LS and they were the best handling tires I've ever bought - didn't last long but there probably weren't made to and the fun made of for the relatively short life (22,000?). I suspect other brands/models of ultra high performance tires would not have lasted any longer.

Any error message on the display? Was the CD changer working correctly recently? Are the CD's loaded in the cartridge correctly? (Have you reloaded CD's since the last time it worked correctly?)

You're expecting complete competence from a minimum wage tow truck operator? I recently read on another Lexus forum about how a tow truck operator serverely trashed a Lexus LS electrical system when he reversed the jumper cables while jump starting the engine. It's pretty common to have to do a reset after a battery change but 2000 was the last model year in which the LS owners manual told how to do it. I don't see anything in the 2007 LS460 owners manual that says there has to be a reset to get all the warning lights to work after a battery change but the owners manual is huge and I could be missing it. There are instructions on this forum on how to reset the VSC light for the LS430 with a paperclip on two OBDC terminals but I wouldn't recommend trying it on an LS460. Maybe it's not progress as far as car owners are concerned but there seems to be a trend for things like resetting automotive systems to have to be done with electronic diagnostic tools. Your statement that "Surely this can be corrected without visit to dealer" is not necessarily the case.

As explained in your owners manual, a flashing A/C button light means that the A/C compressor is not operating. The problem could be simple but it will probably take someone familiar with A/C systems to diagnose the problem. A Lexus dealer or independent shop specializing in Lexus/Toyota may be your best bet.

What "lot of problems" are you talking about? By "problems" do you mean a lack of features that were added to navigation systems in later model years? Tell us and maybe someone can comment. Yes, the safety lockout feature continues after the update although you will no longer have to press the "I Agree" button - there are aftermarket products you can buy to defeat the safety lockout. Edit: Whoops! I may be mistaken about a nav update getting rid of having to press the "I Agree" button - may apply only to later nav system versions. I love our Garmins - we have two inexpensive (currenlty about $200) 2595 LMT with 5" inch screens - one is mounted on a bracket by my radio and hardwired into my 00 LS electrical system and the other my wife uses on business trips in rental cars. Our Garmins have excellent voice control for making phone calls and entering destinations, advertising free traffic information with rerouting around traffic jams, and amazing integration with my Android cell phone where I can do things like send location information for businesses from Yelp and YP on my phone to the Garmin via Bluetooth and even be guided back to my parked car by the Garmin SmartPhone Link app (available only for Android) running on my phone. That said, I think $169 is a small price to pay for much newer maps if your current maps are old. If you want newer features and are willing to spend the money, there are numerous threads on the ClubLexus forum about installing aftermarket indash navigation systems - requires installing an HVAC control unit from a non-nav GS.
