  1. Hi there, Just like 1990LS400 I do my own oil changes on my 2006 GS300 SEL and I do not need to use ramps. I have ramps but I hate using them as the risk to the car is high when trying to put the car onto the ramps, I once ran an autin mini completely over the end of the ramps trying to ram the car up onto them since I was chasing the ramps down the road (they were sliding) ! I change my oil on the drive and the sump plug can be reached by lying on the ground with my right shoulder just behind the RHS front wheel. The socket wrench fits nicely on the sump plug and it is fairly easy to manipulate by feel. The rest of the oil change can be carried out from the front of the car but remember that you do need the special tool to remove the oil filter housing. You may also need to remove the cover underneath the front of the engine compartment directly under the filter housing to get some leverage on the filter housing but this can easily be reached from under the front of the car, you will need a 10mm socket and wrench for the cover screws. I hope this helps ...
  2. Ok thanks guys. It all makes more sense now. But I wish we had the AWD GS in the UK. We have had a lot of snow this winter ... fun and games in the RWD GS !
  3. Hi there, I have a 2006 GS300 in the UK. I have just come back from San Francisco and Sacramento and I have studying the models you guys have over there. I spotted ES350's everywhere but less GS350's (and GS430's). The question I have is what are the real differences between the GS350 and the ES350. Both seem to be very similar on the face of it with only small styling differences. We do not have the ES350 in the UK so I my question is what are the differences between the GS350 and the ES350 ? Are the specs different or something ? Is one made in the US and one in Japan ? Both seem to be so similar I am trying to work out why the US gets the GS and the ES but in the UK we only get the GS. All comments welcome. From a fellow Lexus owner in the UK. Thanks.
  4. Hi there, I have a 2006 GS300 over in the UK an I spotted your post while researching the same problem. My GS is a 2006 with 56000 on the clock and I have the same ticking noise when parked next to a wall or listening with the hood open. Today I took my car to Lexus Newcastle and they compared the noise to the bosses 2009 GS300, the noise was the same. I was advised that the noise is not valve noise it is simply injector noise and is perectly normal. Hope this helps :)
