  1. One of 2 things. Could be some small electrical drain, unlikely. Or most likely is a failing battery. Have it load tested, not just voltage check. That is how batteries die in normal life.
  2. Sounds like it cost more to ship the car than it is worth. I was in Hawaii recently and learned there is a big import tax on vehicles. That already being paid, I'd bail and do it quickly.
  3. Had mine done at a Toyota dealership. Missed the coffee but sure enjoyed the much smaller tab. In my opinion, Lexus should install dry cleaning services at their dealerships because that is what it feels like when I go there. As a former teacher I leaned not to go there. denny
  4. Hey Derek, Seems to me that if you have done regular PM on the car then why not keep driving it until you get the new car itch so bad you can stand it anymore. First thing you need to do is find an unaffiliated Toyota dealership and have them do the work as their attitude and quality is often better than the Lexus places. Yes, Lexus has better coffee but... Of course it it was me and I depended on the car for secure travel or business, AND if I could afford something newer, I'd be all over that right quick. Clean yours up and roll it while it still has maximum value. Welcome to the LOC. I have found this to be the best place to discuss Lexus and other car stuff with people who aren't trolls and idiots. Certainly hope you hang around as we all learn from each others experiences. Denny
  5. Cristina, You are a victim of what we call BAD LUCK. I certainly wish the windshields on some of my older vehicles would take a hit because they are sandblasted from years of wind. Of course that hardly ever happens, nope always the new ones. Your comprehensive insurance should cover all but your deductible (mine is $100 on some and $50 on others). If your insurance company is expecting you to pay THAT much, they should also be expecting you to shop for another insurance company. Now take one moment and look at the positives to balance things. You MIGHT have had stuff hit, chip, and dent your paint. Welcome to the LOC and I certainly hope your spirits can be raised by our friendly community. Only car stuff which is about all I like anyway. Denny
  6. Most interesting. When we had our LS400 I thought the seats were hard and flat yet my wife absolutely loved them. This may sound terrible but the most comfortable seats I have in any vehicle is those in my 1997 Chevy Silverado as they are a softer fabric and heaven on my back. My IS is comfortable enough but not exactly what I would consider great for long distance travel. The ES is okay and never bothered me but my wife hated the ES seats. Go figure. As Paul so accurately pointed out, seats are really a matter of personal taste. Almost much more so than any other feature on a vehicle. If you like the seats, you like the ride. And welcome Sara, to our new friend from the Great White North (like those McKensey brothers). Denny
  7. Sounds very much like the symptoms I experienced on another brand. The ignition switch was bad and shorting internally. Much worse on cars that people hang 2lbs. of keys on their rings. First place I would look. Seen it happen on many brands although never a Toyota product. Welcome to LOC. I hope you stick around. Denny
  8. There is a reset button which IF you can find it might help. Of course you'd have to read how to do it all. I had new tires on my wife's RAV4 with the same system and they used the same sensors and reset it without issue. Maybe, depending on the year of your car, you might be able to call up the individual tire pressures. Very nice to have a display that shows all your exact tire pressures. TPS's are a real headache now. In 10-15 years they will be a nightmare and everybody will have black tape on these. Best of luck with it all. And oh yes, check the spare because they are included. Only cars with run-flats wouldn't have a spare. denny
  9. we will need your AOL user name and password to access :)
  10. No, I never even knew there was an SOS button. Just found it after I saw all this. No point for me to read about it now though.Probably would be a good idea for Lexus to do two things. 1. Tell people about it when you buy the vehicle. 2. Make the renewal price reasonable. Since I never used it, I guess I don't need it so issue resolved. Just didn't know if it disabled the nearly worthless navigation system or not. I have all kinds of roadside assistance stuff and I drive a car very unlikely to break anyway. Just life in the Lexus lane I suppose. Denny
  11. Just came from Costco. $1.99 regular (Top Tier)
  12. Just got a notice that my Lexus Enform Safety Connect and Destination subscription expired and sadly, they had not received my renewal payment ;( What is it? I kind of heard something about it but that is all. Does this mean my navigation will no longer work? What in the world is worth $264.90 a year that I have never used? Denny
  13. Understand. Do you have a thermal sensing gun? I guess the warm and not hot part threw me off. My Sirius stand alone unit gets hot, quite hot but lasted for 12 years. Many unknown factors like was the car sitting in the sun and such. Seriously trying to be helpful.. Denny
  14. exactly how I prefer. I often use my old GPS as a speedometer.
  15. working people love atta boys
  16. ah just electronics dispersing heat. I wouldn't be concerned.
  17. I didn't know this was adjustable but interesting. I hit the three blinks then merge over. If people don't see that, force merge.
  18. The new Civics are really nice cars. Made y mother buy a new Civic EXL last year. Very nice cars for very little money. I especially like the speedometer. I purposely did not get the F-Sport as I really hated the large tach in the middle and the tiny speedometer. I see no need for a huge tach with an automatic with a rev limiter. Might look cool but pretty much useless except for impressing passengers which I something I already avoid.
  19. I would not touch the factory exhaust as you will never have a better system. To enjoy the sound, use the manual mode and keep it floored to redline. You will have plenty of sound. Factory exhausts are now extremely good and will easy last the life of a vehicle. Well, unless you live in the northeast. Floor that puppy and you will get a howl. And yes, I also have an ES and they are pretty much older people cars. My wife reminds me whenever she has to get in my IS, which she hates. Too bad, I didn't buy it for luxury touring, I bought it to drive. Can't speak for any of you but I do not like having people in my car because they B-M-W. The M=moan, the W=whine. You'll have to figure out the B= yourself. Denny
  20. That is a beauty and in my opinion perhaps the best Lexus car ever made. I still miss my LS400 and will probably end up getting another one at some point. Car should idle at 600 rpm's when at temperature. I do know the 400 does take quite awhile to reach operating temperature. It is the perfect family project, something I highly endorse. Enjoy it before your son gets it because he won't want to give it up. Welcome, nice to have you here at the LOC. Best auto group on the net, hands down. Denny
  21. I know you were very apprehensive about having this paint done but luck is on your side and they did it correctly. Now it is time for some top down twisties. So glad it all came out well because I know it would have me on edge.
  22. When you still have a 9 year old battery like the Red Top I have in my pickup, you know it is good. Yes, pricey but well worth the extra if you can afford one.
  23. I hadn't either until I bought my car. Well, I guess my wife's RAV4 is an AWD but I don't count that. AWD just pulls so hard through corners that it like on a rail. Car is unbelieveable and the cornering grip far exceeds my expectations. While driving in another undisclosed state on an undisclosed day at an undisclosed location, I was unable to make the traction control light even flicker, nor did I get any tire squeal. The traction is so good, it almost isn't fun.
