  1. Oh Gary, didn't you strike the nail directly on the head. and yeah, it hits hard.
  2. Parking at colleges can be a nightmare especially on drop off times. I'd rather have people door ding my rental than my car. I have seen people bang all kinds of things into cars unloading.
  3. I read that when all the studies on unintended acceleration in Toyota vehicles was determined to be people accidently pushing the accelerator rather than the brake, no mechanical issues rather carpets and other items getting stuck under the pedals. Maybe the pedals are too close together? I have had (and still do) own multiple Toyota vehicles and never seen any indication of such. Of course I have found in my IS that intended acceleration does occur. I must add that the "family screaming in fright" part was a notable addition. I have had this part occur which is why I really try to keep them out of my car. I'd try to duplicate the unintended acceleration in an area without anything to hit and of course, without the family in the car.
  4. Not sure if you can find it in Texas but when I was last in New York State I found many stations (including Sunoco) that sell NON-ALCOHOL Premium gasoline. I gained 3 MPG with 2 different vehicles using this fuel. I certainly wish they would sell it everywhere as the alcohol really diminishes your fuel economy. My IS250 has ranged from 19.7 - 27.1 in various driving situations. Of course I never really considered the fuel economy when I purchased the car.
  5. or at LEAST not charge you.
  6. Let's just say I didn't see many brands missing off the list. Toyota is listed but not Lexus specifically.
  7. Old country saying Brakes pads are cheaper than transmissions.
  8. Yes but the gas went somewhere. You might throw some indicator dye in and check for a small leak. Of course R-134a is cheaper than leak repairs and for small ones, I just recharge every few years. My friends 1993 Camry wagon wasn't blowing cold and he was quoted a huge amount to fix. I hooked up the old well worn R-12 gauges and my 30lb. tank and charged it up 3 years ago. Still ice cold and the cost? Nothing. All hope is not lost.
  9. White smoke often indicates a head gasket leak. Look (when it' cold of course) at the radiator fluid and see if there is oil in there. Then look at your oil dipstick and filler cap (inside) and see if there is any whitish looking foam. Neither is good. That much oil consumption is excessive. Wish I could be more positive. Denny
  10. Many Chryslers are nice looking and powerful. I'd never buy one though because they are pretty much worthless after very few years. In the north, they still rust like iron ore. Not anywhere near my list of cars to have.
  11. I'd say yes if they came off an IS. Of course the size comparison and circumference is also to be considered. Not sure what came on the SC but seems like everything should work. As far as brakes and stuff, as cars get newer, brakes seem to get bigger so everything should fit. As far as I've ever heard, all standard car Lexus lug patterns are the same. Could be wrong but I don't think so. Sure would be a nice addition though.
  12. Read the link. Sounds great but didn't see Lexus listed.
  13. At what speeds are the wind noises apparent?
  14. Love Apple pie but I stay away.
  15. I do however know what Apple Pay is which is awesome.
  16. I have a Lexus and Apple stuff. Is car play when you get in and it automatically loads your playlists? Like others, I have never heard it called Apple Play either.
  17. Our local (exclusive) Lexus dealer also owns a Toyota dealership along with about every other brand. Luckily, there are 3 different local Toyota dealerships so those not associated with the Lexus dude, are very happy to work on a Lexus. About the same parts on most.
  18. For whatever reason, the LS400 engine need a LOT of juice to start and run properly. A slightly bad battery can cause all kinds of problems. Consider having that checked. Regarding the computer, very well could be causing problems. Hopefully you still have the old computer. Good luck over there in "The Greenest State in the Land of the Free" Denny
  19. I had the timing belt and waterpump done on my 04ES at about 90,000. I also had all the fluids (except oil) changed. Transmission, power steering, brake fluid and coolant. Had it done at a Toyota dealership for about $800
  20. I have had the windows on all of my cars tinted. Took my IS in the day after I got it. Without the tint, the sun destroys the interior and your skin. I had my side windows done with a light tint 50% the back window with 35% transmission and the sunroof with 10% (limo) tint. The place where I use for tinting is excellent and did my first vehicle 14 years ago and the tint is still perfect.
  21. Forgot. Dealers do not stock the keys, they have be specially ordered.
  22. For my 2004 ES330, the keys were coming apart so I ordered 2 from the local Lexus dealer. Cost maybe $100 each. Yes, they have to be specially cut but they did that and switched the guts from the broken case to the new key case.
  23. Seems to me that NTB should have suggested to replace the tensioners and idler pulleys with the water pump. Still, $250 seems a little steep. Most of the squeaks I've found (after changing tensioners) turned out to be the Serpentine belt. Even new belts squeak often.
  24. perfect, thanks. Didn't know if putting it in a EZPass sleeve would work or not. Might have to try that.
