One thing I have noticed is that when I travel with my extra keys which I usually leave in my bag, with my IS FOB, I can't leave it in the car when I stop, say at a rest area or gas station and get out. This means I have to carry both FOB's together which is something else I don't like to do. What do you do?

Ahh Johnny, nice to have you around. Nothing against my middle of the country and Cali friends but being a dedicated east coaster myself, I live about 12 miles from Moyock, NC and I do appreciate you Carolina boys. Most peoples cars look like **** and to see a 20 year old rig looking nice and someone who cares is even better. Yeah, you are a car people and we sure like that around here. Had my feet in the Atlantic yesterday. Much warmer than feet in Cali. Denny

I would not buy ANY vehicle that had lived in a snow zone. What may look like minor rust now will continue at an increasingly rapid pace. They can't get squat for that old a vehicle in the north because the people their know they are junk. That is why they ship the vehicles from the south to the north to sell and visa versa. I'd say no and I mean a big no unless they knocked off like ten grand.

Hey Johnny2x4 from Carolina. Man, that really looks great. I have used Eagle Eyes replacement on many vehicles and found them to be very good. Your cars looks like it came that way and everyone will think it's new. Besides, after just putting the cover on my truck because it might rain, I appreciate people who care enough to cover. Your paint looks amazing. Denny

Welcome to the LOC Bob. Nice to have another Lexer here. Denny

I'd probably consider going to 18" rims rather than the 19. Going up one size is pretty straightforward and simple on Tire Rack. I use factory size tire (or maybe a tad bigger) for my snow tires. I know many people downsize their snows but so far I haven't been stuck.

"The old key on the car body trick is an act apparently reserved for those with IQ's of a head of lettuce. I've often thought about the LOC forming it's own squad of "Lexus Seals". There mission would be to track down "Keyers" and put super glue in all their house key locks. That way, they wouldn't be able to get out of the house so they couldn't key anymore cars." OR, take away their bus pass for a year.

Sure will be nice when keys are a thing of the past. Hard to scratch anything with a key fob. This situation is why I almost always drive another vehicle when I have to park somewhere. Not sure why people do such things but obviously some low lying mental issue.

Ha, never quite thought of it that way but I would rather see a Lexus in a drift than an annoying parent with even more annoying kids.

No way did the belt break (or jump) unless there were some extreme circumstances. I'd probably pay someone unrelated for a second opinion. If the engine turned over, it isn't seized.

I've noticed a couple car ads lately that have made me wonder if these mothers portrayed on VW and Audi television commercials where the kids are either breaking rules at a pool (Audi) or the 3 kids in the Quick Mart tearing the place up (VW). After the Audi mother acknowledges the boy breaking rules and smiles whilein the VW commercial the dumb looking mother smiles and sings don't let your babies grow up to be cowboys. Now to my question. Are the Germans suggesting that the mothers allow and encourage this type of behaviour or are they suggesting that stupid women drive their cars?

Go to an AutoZone or Advance They have scanners you can use for free.

Just got up early to go and then I see it is the FIRST Saturday of every month. Checked my calendar and see that it is not today.
-
Y'all continue to amaze me. I looked up the coffee and cars and sure enough every saturday AM there is a gathering. That would be tomorrow morning so that means A: I have to wash my car today, and B: I better not stay up until 3AM tonight. What a blast.

99 Ls400 Ac Not Cold During 95+ Degree Days
VBdenny replied to schujd3's topic in 90 - 00 Lexus LS400
More likely a low charge. When the freon gas gets a little low, the temperature output increases. Doubt it is the expansion valve as they are just a component. -
Becki, surely you can't mean forcing to to focus on driving when driving? What a novel idea. Like you, I concentrate on driving when I am doing so. Why I even keep both hands on the wheel unless I'm shifting or something.

Low Tire Pressure Lights On All The Time
VBdenny replied to flowerbuyer's topic in 90 - 00 Lexus LS400
Not many people care much for the TPS idiot light. Luckily, I can call up the exact pressures of the tires on screen. That is something that probably should be on every car. The light tells you very little. -
Sad, but I'm afraid you are right Steve. Let's review the procedure for testing someone to drive. Go around the block at a snail pace and learn how to parallel park. Oh wait, now cars do that for you. Test of the future? set up a Google account. Absolutely pathetic driving out there. Went to the airport to scoop my wife and coming back the Interstate backed up and went down to 10 mph. Then I saw the cause 3 (THREE) cars going slow in every lane pacing each other. The left laner was in one of those disgusting mini-Cooper things.

99 Ls400 Ac Not Cold During 95+ Degree Days
VBdenny replied to schujd3's topic in 90 - 00 Lexus LS400
If your AC output is 30 degrees below outside temperature, things are fine. Just use your imagination to remember last winter and things will chill. Put a thermometer in the outlet and test. 100 degrees outside means 70 degree air inside. Anything beyond that is a bonus. I guess you can also only rate the output on a longer trip. Short trips don't count since it takes the physical interior a long time to cool down. Also the color of the car makes a huge difference. Black=Hot, -
Well Freddie, I'd sure pay them to do the job. Can't speak for Carolina but VB has been around 100 for the last couple days. Got back from a quick run to Baltimore and when I got out of the car, wham. Working on cars in this heat is terrible. Been working on a friends 1/4 million mile Corolla and dripping like a faucet. Of course it all really comes down to the funds. Sounds like a reasonable price for a rather difficult job.

Like that "Cars & Caffeine" sound. What is that? Becki, racing cops? Terrible idea but that being said, I've done it before but only to da limit

I saw several GT3's at "The Glen." Fast as crap and the preferred car of many of the Chin instructors. My friend Jack with the 911S said "I'm out of power" which translates to new GT3. Fastest car on the track was a Sprint Cup car out of the Martin Truex, Jr. stall from a few years ago. Guy bought it at a charity auction now he runs it on tracks. Forget Busch Gardens, and forget Disney World, track time is where the fun is located.

Help! Stuck Camshaft Bearing Cap Prevents Me From Replacing Camsha
VBdenny replied to Magda's topic in 90 - 00 Lexus LS400
Hey Magda, You may own one of the best cars ever made. I see mine 90 LS around every day and still miss that car. Something my wife and I both agree on, the 90 LS400 was the best driving car we have ever owned. Keep that 4Cam going.- 25 replies

Gs 350 Hit While Parked
VBdenny replied to GSLexLuther's topic in 06 - 12 Lexus GS300 / GS350 / GS460
T"he police were told this but said they couldn't investigate because no one seen the actual damage. Tried going there but no one comes out" Very sad that the cops wouldn't investigate a hit and run. Apparently it IS true that the is no noise in Illinois.
