  1. I understand the "market" etc. I also understand the record profits the oil companies are making. They get more for the gas, becouse pepole will pay. If gas in the US was 5.00 gal., most folks would scream like But still buy it becouse we have to, as most cities have no real public transportation. I also know that most station owners are not getting the benfits of the $$. Most stations make 2 to 5 cents per gallon. But we are getting riped off becouse they (gas companies) can do it. The Arizona Atty Gen has stated there is no real reason for the cost of gas in Arizoona to be as high as it is, other then, "There is no law against it". Gas here for Prem is still over $3.00 a gal, at the cheep stations. In Los Angeles it is easy to find it for much less. 3 years ago, gas in L.A. was always at least 50 cents more then here due to the tax dif. Gas companies are charging what they are becouse the maket will bare it. This protest is the only why I have seen to make a statement without giving up my car. And for me, stopping my driving is not an option, as I like to earn a living and I need my car to do so......
  2. Have you tied Berrymans B12 Chemtool (Wal Mart has it) at around $3.00 a can? "Pour the other 1/2 in with fresh engine oil. At the least you will notice that the engine will idle noticeably smoother." I'm assuming you mean to add the stuff to your engine oil and not to mix with oil and put in gas tank.... How long do you leave it in the engine oil before you change the oil? I'm assuming you do not run it in the oil all the time?
  3. You can do what I did. I moved to Arizona. No Daylight Saving!
  4. Your thoughts on this idea about high gas prices? http://www.biznetonline.com/11-05/gas.htm
  5. Techron is great stuff and you can't go wrong with it, but I have no idea if it is better then Chemtool, or Seafoam. It is more $$$
  6. I must corect my statement that we did not get it.... I did not get it....
  7. I'm not a DIY I'm more of a break it myself... But as I understand it the rack is a big job. On the cost, finding a rack for 200.00 to 400.00 with garrenty is not hard to do. AutoZone can get you one from ATSCO. I'm running one of there PS pumps and like it so fair. Was the cheepist I found. under 120.00 with core exchange. Good luck, hope it goes well for you.
  8. Glad you fixed it!, And glad it was not a really big thing. I'm also suprised we all missed water in the gas tank. I should have thought of that, as I know it can happen. Sham on me. In fact that is why I keep a couple of bottles of HEAT around incase I get bad gas (yes somethimes the gas stations gas gets water in in. More so in winter) If you gave not done so, get a can of Berrymans B12 Chemtool (Wal Mart) and put it in your gas tank every now and then. Keeps injectors and fuil system clean, treats for water, etc. Same as Sea Foam brand, but cost less. Again glad to hear you got it fixed, and sorry we missed the water in the gas tank :chairshot:
  9. Welcome! You found a great place to start. Seafoam is good stuff, but Berryman's B12 Chemtool is the same and about half the price. Walmart has it in spray for cleaning things like the thoatle body, and in cans to add to your gas. If I'm recalling right one can does 20 gal., for less then $3.00 I would to it like a oil change once every 3,000 miles. You do not need it every tank or every other tank of gas. It will not hurt to use it more, but it's not going to help either. Just poor ot into the gas before you fill up. A funal is a good thing to use. You can poor it in easer without getting it on the paint. The more stop and go driving you do, the more you should use it. I do mostly hwy so I do it every 6,000 miles or so. Cleans more then just injectors.
  10. Vent all you want... I'm trained as a first responder, etc. And have seen a lot of nasty stuff... I have some idea of the streess etc... So vent all you want it is very good for you. Feel free to PM me if you need to.
  11. Please dop not take this the wrong way, but I would hate to see you try something only to really mess up the car , as in big $$$$. generaly Electrical systems have two poles the pluse or positive, and the ground or negative. The negative is ground on almost all cars. And this is ture of your car. But if you mess up the polarity, you could really mess up your car. I do not recomend messing with electrical unless you are very comfortable with what you are doing.
  12. Come on, this is a car forum, he was obveasly not working on the ceiling fan, but I'm not sure about the sink and shower. I mean if he has a large bathroom, he could have ben working on the car in there :D I apoligize for making fun at this If you give more info we will really try to help. Like what bulb on what. And was power on or off???
  13. Still sound like a bad ground. Have tried what I sugested?
  14. Congratulations! You just scared the hell out of me! Yep, those dealers can be scary places. I learned with my Saab, that just because they sell and service them, don't mean they know I asked my shop about using the wrong fluid. They think it would not hurt the system, but would effect how well it worked as the viscosity could be different, but both are hydraulic fluids. I just put in a PS pump from ATSCO bought though AutoZone. Lifetime warranty etc. Lowest price one I could find. But had to go into AutoZone. Does not show on web. I think this company does PS racks also. You can find their contact info on this post: http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/index...showtopic=25092 They sell nationally though Autozone, Pep Boys and others.
  15. I can't ell you why it is happaning on your car or not, but if this helps.... I have three cars.. 84 Saab 900 91 LS400 88 Full size Ford Bronco I buy gas in California, Nevada and Arizona. At some pumps I can not get the gas to go at full flow without finding just the right way to hold it. On the Saab, holding it 45 degrees to the right with no slack on the hose sweems to work. On the LS It is 45 degress to the Left On the ford it is upside down. It only happens at some pumps and not others. It is a real pain in the .... I see it as an problem with the pump and not the cars. I think you will find out you are not alone.
  16. I would say the dealer said what they said for one of three reasons 1. The guy did not know what he was talking about and gave you a bunch of BS 2. We live in a world of lawyers and law suites. They may have a policy of not installing parts, they did not supply, and this was thier way of handaling your call. 3. UPSELL!!!!!!! I would say of the 3, most folks would think the dealer was going with # 3... Don't let it bug you, just speak with your wallet, and take your business elswhere. If you do not know of a good independant shop in your area just try asking in a post.
  17. Short responce: Sorry I'm not psychic...... Long winded responce: I also based my advice on what you had posted. You never stated you had talked to an attorney. Or ran a CarFax. Or that the guy had a dealership, you just kept stating a mechanic/shop. Or that you bought the car from a privet party, that just happened to be a mechanic and a car dealer, but this deal was just between you and him and had nothing to do with the dealership or the shop…. This info only came out when you complained about “how I was talking to you”. I hope you noticed that I wished you the best of luck, and wanted to see you get your $$ back. I have re-read all the posts from the beginning…… Based on the information you provided, I feel my post was on target, well meaning, friendly, and not condescending, but emphasized important points (mistakes) that were repeatedly being made….. All based on the information provided up to my posting and your complaint. And someone that makes a mistake over and over, most of the time they simply do not realize they missed something. It’s called human error, not being stupid. I will say that very few people are stupid or real idiots, but we all sometimes miss points or things, and no one is knowledgeable on everything. I never think anyone asking a question on this forum is dumb or stupid, etc…. To me the very fact that they are asking for help and or assistance shows they have a brain and know how to use it. It is a wise man (person) that knows the limits of their knowledge and asks for help, etc…. I do it all the time. I thought I was dealing with a person asking for help/advice. Not someone that wanted to express things with no feedback. And this forum can be a great way to vent and let it out. But the price everyone pays for posting on a public forum, is they may not like what others post in response to their “opinion” or comments. Like I siad long winded... But I'm in investagative reporter writer by trade... So, I do tend to go on and on.....
  18. "I also sprayed some prestone belt dressing on the serpentine belt....quieted that down a lot! " I hope that works better for you then it did for me. I put it on my truck to stop a noisy belt. That did the belt in. Found out the hard way. Never put that stuff on a sepentine belt! In fact Prestone states it on the product... Sort of... Can I had , had no warning about it, but I saw a small packet of it later in the store that did warn not to use it..... Cost me about 70.00!!! And Preston acting kind of over the thing. They admited I should not have used it, but only offered to refund cost of the product.
  19. Pump has lifetime warnty. Looked like a good rebiuld to my shop that installed it. Unit does not show on AutoZones web site. Only in person at the store. It is an Atsco company pump. They are located here in Arizona (4525 N 43rd Ave., Phoenix AZ 85031, (623)842-4047) company web site is at : http://www.atscoproducts.com It is down right now, but should be getting fixed?????
  20. As you may know I had to replace the power steering pump on my 91 LS. It was working, with no leaks, but was starting to sound like I had a jet engine under the hood from the very loud wining noise it was making. Pump was to go in last week, but parts house sent the right box, with the right part number, but wrong pump inside. So I could not get a replacement pump until today. Well over the weekend I thought I was detecting my alternator going out. Long story short, as we had to pull the power steering pump to replace it, we pulled the alternator and took it to a rebuilder. Guy was amazed it put out any power at all. It was so bad he could not fix it. Had to go with a store bought rebuild. But at least I got to do it when I was pulling the PS pump any way. Alternator was a rebuilt Toyota/Nippon brand $375.00 I did not know it, but I had a 130 amp unit! Power steering is nice and quit now. Unit was from AutoZone 116.00 plus core charge
  21. If you responded and I missed it sorry, but have you checked the fliud yourself? Is the level good? What color is it? Can you see the dip stick though the fluid? Owners Man will tell you how to check fluid.
  22. If the battery has at least 12+ volts in it (new batteries are not alway at full charge) I would first suspect your fusable link, or a bad ground conection, as the other post states. You need to check to see that you have a good engine ground. If you have jumper cables try conecting the ground (-) on the battery to a good contact piont on the engine and then see if all your systems have power or not. If not, move on the the fusable link...
  23. I'm sorry if I offended you. As you feel I'm not treating you properly I will not tell you what I know. If you are working with an attrny then just stick with his advice, you don't need us. But if you do not want advice and you know what you are doing and what to do, why did you end your first post with: "What do you think? GRR " You asked for our thoughts, and you got them. You do not have to agree with them, or even think they came from someone with a brain, but gee.... To complain becouse we gave you what you asked for and we only were trying to help...... Makes me feel like i'm getting this :chairshot:
  24. I'm the type that loves my cars, but let me tell you I would rather have my car dye then me. Your car did it's job and saved you. I would find an atterny and have him work with you. Even if your insurance company and or the taxi company seem to be treating you nice. It is thier job to settle for as little money as they can. On the price they are giving you for your car. Never take the first offer. There is always money on the table. I have an 84 Saab. It has been declared a total 6 times. I have always kept the car and got it fixed for less then the amount I got from the insurance company. For now be good to yourself. Forget about the car. And do what you need to do for you. Also be carefull about what you say to anyone or even post, your words could come back at you. Trust this... Never trust an insurance company, your own or anyones.
  25. Had my battery die when I was out of town, charged it, and put one of those voltadge meaters into the cig lighter socket. On the drive home (400 miles), the voltadge never went over 13.2 volts and that was at 80 to 90 miles per hour. At under 20 miles per, voltadge droped to 12.1 volts. On getting home I put the battery on a charger and got the battery up to a fully charged voltadge of about 14 volts. I then left the lights on with the car off. After an hour with lights on (high beams) the voltadge was reading 12.4, and the car started fine The battery charger claims to test the altanator by giving a % of how it is working at charging the battery. at 2,000 rpm it shows 0%, at 3,000 rpm it shows 30%. I'm thinking altanator part is OK, but regulator is bad. If I'm right though, it is all one unit??? So, I put the car back on the charger and recharged to 14 volts. Your thoughts... Oh, and in the AM, I'm finally putting that rebiult PS pump on, as the right part came in today, so I'll have the altanator pulled and rebuilt at a locale shop.... Can't see installing the new ps pump, then pulling the altanator later....:chairshot:
