  1. Lexus dealers will sell you just the rubber bushing. I think I paid $45/each from Sewell. I have free access to a press, so I don't know what a machine shop would charge for this. I saved a good bit of money going this route verses buying the whole arm (for $115).If you want Poly, they are out there; I see them on ebay all the time. More info: http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/index...c=17449&hl=
  2. So true. I think I remember them having a release date for Gen2 bushings back in 2005 or 2006.
  3. Awesome. Are we talking about the lower ball joints? I was looking at the LexLS.com tutorials and it looked like I had to remove the entire front wheel assembly to get that piece out! Thanks for the help everybody! Yep, I'm talking about the lowers. All you have to do it disconnect the tie rod end, remove the two bolts that hold the ball joint to the knuckle, remove the nut that attaches the ball joint to the lower control arm, and pop the ball joint out with a puller. It's very easy and straight forward (not nearly as bad as a strut rod!). ;)
  4. I wish I would have exchanged info with the guy who bought my '95. I wonder how many miles it's up to. I miss that car; it was unstoppable. It was truly fantastic and far less troublesome than my '99...I guess it keeps things exciting wondering what's going to break next! LOL
  5. It's a very easy job; it takes less than an hour per side (using a floor jack and no air tools). It seems like you spend more time jacking the car up and removing wheels than you will replacing the ball joints. I wouldn't pay for more than 2 hours labor.
  6. The very same! I was thinking that next she's going to have a rough time next week living up to her Les Mis performance, but I just listened to this: http://new.music.yahoo.com/blogs/videogaga...year-old-cover/ Wow!!! I bet she'll win the whole thing!
  7. I know, she is unreal. When they put her on the front page of Yahoo earlier this week, the YouTube counter was at 2M, and as of now, it's approaching 20M!!! :o :D She is no better example of "don't judge a book by its cover." Aside from her voice, it amazed me how comfortable she is infront of the crowd! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9lp0IWv8QZY...feature=related .....she certainly made that little !Removed! 1:22 in look like an idiot for laughing and rolling her eyes!
  8. Cool, thanks for the heads up! I'm glad it works well in the foam gun. I don't plan out when I wash the car, so it's nice to know what retail products are good if I'm out of something that I purchase online. I waxed the car with Megs #26 this week; I really like that wax a lot (you can get it at AutoZone).
  9. Looks like your crank seal to me. The crank seal on my '95 used to leak and make a huge mess on the driveway until I fixed it. It's not time to change the timing belt by any chance (kill two birds with one stone)?
  10. I just looked up your threads on CL where you added the wood to the lid and refinished your steering wheel....quite impressive!
  11. I changed the #3 solenoid ($245 shipped at park Place) out this weekend, and it cured the P0763 that I had. It took 2 hours from start to finish; the valve body didn't have to come out. It took about 4.5quarts to refill. 180k miles...
  12. I'd check the resistance on your O2 sensors before running a can of seafoam through and fouling up your plugs. I used to get those codes on my '95 every so often. I finally changed all 4 O2 sensors right before I sold it, so I'll never know if that cured it completely or not (damn it!). The repair manual says the trouble areas with this code are the post cat O2 sensor and/or the cat.
  13. That's a beautiful car! Personally, I would have avoided the nav. When a Garmin burns out, you throw it in the garbage and buy another one for $250. It's going to hurt when a OEM nav dies! What's his screen name? SKPerformance??? His screen name is: Steve http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/index.php?showuser=4
  14. And use discount code "909RK" when you check out. ;) Email them a copy of your title and drivers license, and they'll cut it for free too. For the broken key, I'd just buy a new shell for $50: http://www.sewellpartsonline.com/parts_detail.asp?id=88782
  15. It's still 11:30 CST, so I just made it.....Happy Birthday my friend! I hope you had a great day!!!
  16. I agree, the 04-08 is a fantastic truck. I had one for a weekend rental to haul some materials for my home renovations, and I LOVED it. I was amazed by how smooth and car like it is in comparison to its rivals. The Tundra I had for a weekend rental was a disappointment. I found driving it only slightly preferable to driving a GMT9XX. I bet your dad got a great deal on his truck with the economy and new model out. I really like the new '09 model; I can't wait to drive one.
  17. I haven't been able to do any fuel tests, but I've defiantly got some power back. I used to have to kill VSC to make the tires chirp, and now I don't have to! haha I had to run the heater the other night, and it was blowing hot air much, much sooner than before. The OEM part was 200% more than the aftermarket one, so I had to take the chance on it. If things go south, I'll report back.
  18. One part of my repair manual says that the valve body needs to come out to get to the solenoid #3, and the other part (where they discuss P0763) says to just drop the pan. Anyone know what's involved? I had this CEL come and go several months ago, and now, if I try to turn it off with my scanner, it comes back on 1/2 second later...I'm "missing" some gears too. Park Place gave me this part number for Shift solenoid #3: 35230-30010
  19. The curtains are actually growing on me! (LOVE the F150 too!!) Is factory tint really 35%? I think it's more like 50% or even higher. Factory is not even close to 50%, much less 35%, which is illegal in a lot of states. JC's car has aftermarket tint on it, probably around 50% from what it looks like in the pics. I got busted for illegal tint in my '95. The State Policeman's meter showed 11% on my front window. I had the tint guy put 20% film on, so that means that the factory tint is something like 90%. Similarly, when I had my '99 tinted, I went with what was legal (40%), and the receipt showed that he put 50% on the front windows, which would mean that the 99 also came with 90% tint. This is what factory tint looks like....

    I'm Back!

That's a great looking car Robert! Congrats! B) I think the 98-05 (?) is one of a few cars that look great with a spoiler. You made the right move going with the 8!
  21. You did fine, Josh. You offered the car to them for free, but they still insisted on paying you for it. This sounds more like they were too proud (and I don't mean that in a bad way) to accept your generous "handout" than a question of your generosity.
  22. It depends on the part, but I generally use OEM. No way would I ever use a timing belt and idler pulleys from Auto Zone, but I don't have a problem with a respected brand from Auto Zone if I need a part quickly like an O2 sensor, drive belt, or something like that. I was surprised to see that some Toyota parts I got the other day were made in Mexico...
  23. Nope, it's not OEM. I thought $50 for the Lexus sensor was fair enough, but for some reason I had a problem with paying $12 for shipping. I read that the guy on ClubLexus who wrote up a tutorial used one from AutoZone with great results, so I got this one from Advance Auto. It was $30, and it looks and feels just as good as the Toyota one that came out of the car. I didn't even feel it crack. I guess it's from having to get the deep socket in to a tight squeeze, and the old one was in there pretty tight, so I had to use a little muscle. My '99 only has 179k miles.I've already noticed that it seems to shift smoother and quicker. I'm going to put some highway miles on it this weekend to see if my mileage has gone up.
  24. I just changed mine. It took about 10 minutes. I'll write back after I put some miles on it to see how it's changed. I'm sure something will change because the old one doesn't look so hot.
  25. I decided it might not be a bad thing to change out my alternator too. It was the most complicated alternator change I've ever experienced, but after seeing the old one, I guess it wasn't a total waste of time. The car didn't seem to lack any electrical power before (like dimming lights when the brakes are applied), but it seems to start with more gusto with the new alternator.
