  1. From what I read on the internet, I hear their stuff is average. They put out a great catalog though! I used Poorboy's EX-P sealant on my LS this weekend, and it was fantastic to work with (I topped it with Natty's paste wax). I'll post the updated pics to my show and shine page later. The way the sealant and wax brought the flake out is unbelievable. B)
  2. It amazes me how much prices vary from dealer to dealer. When I bought my '99, the previous owner gave me the receipt for the timing belt/water pump/ oil seals/ etc. at the local Lexus dealer, and it was only $1,300. The highest I've seen yet was when I went with a relative to buy a 95LS in Houston, and the receipt that came with the car for the timing belt work was $1,850. Wow!
  3. Very cool video!! Is it just me, or does the 300/330/350 have a much better looking exterior. The body just doesn't flow like the previous generations.
  4. I wouldn't bail just yet. What's wrong with the a/c? Alternators and ps work is fairly simple and not that expensive. Gas is going to have to go past $5/gallon (and stay there) for me to want to downgrade to some overpriced tin can Prius or troublesome VW TDI. The $23k you'll spend on either of those cars will get you a nice '04 or later 430! B)
  5. Just upgraded to the iphone 3GS and was so happy to see the buzzing sound problem has been eliminated. :) I think the buzzing is due to a weird mix from the GSM phone and the car radio. I've had various Nokia and Apple phones in a number of different cars, and they interfere (buzz) with some, and others have no interference. My '95 LS used to buzz, but my '99 LS doesn't. My 3GS came on Friday morning; it's really sweet! B)
  6. Cool, you're getting a LS!! I like this color too, but I'm not sure it's something I'd want to look at for 5-10 years. It'd be perfect for a lease! Wow, $29k for a '04....that's in to '06 price range. I really like Cypress Pearl too. Mercury with black interior is so classic though; you can't go wrong with that combo. The beige interior is awesome; the two tone light brown and beige colors are very soothing. Personally, I'd skip the CPO, and find a 05-06 that has 49,999 miles (or less!) and just extend the warranty out (probably cheaper, no?).
  7. I'd get the '04 too. I'm one of the few people who would prefer the base model. Air ride, nav system, rear a/c, etc. those are just more potential headaches if you plan to keep the car for a while.

    Gm = Bk

Couldn't have said it better myself! Hopefully with these bankruptcies, GM and Chrysler will regain control from the corporate terrorists.....opps, I mean UAW, who currently control them. I've toured Bowling Green and The Rouge, so I've seen these UAW slugs in action. How they get compensated north of $70/hour is something I'll never, ever understand. The speed and quality of work that they produce would make them $20/hour workers at the most, w/o benefits. It's truly amazing that any of the cars actually function when they reach the end of the line. If Wagoner had to go, Gettelfinger should have walked out the door with him. They should just let Chrysler die. They haven't produced any cars people actually want in God knows how long. Taking Iococca's cars, well that was classy. They should have been offering him a management job instead. GM is slowly catching on with the new Malibus and CTSs; now they need to revamp the rest of the line with the same care that they gave to the CTS & Malibu and operate only under 3 brands: Cadillac, Chevy, and Buick (Buick, mostly for the sake of the Chinese). I really want a 2009 Taurus LTD, but with the amount of repairs I've put in to my LS just in the first 11 months, I have to drive it for a while longer to put all of those repairs to use. I know Ford will still be here when I'm ready to buy one of their products! :D
  9. I don't know what PSI the washer was that I used (I think it has about a 5hp engine), but it didn't do any damage at all to my carpet. Actually, it cleaned it up quite nicely. This was the worst of the stains in my car:Before: After:
  10. If your carpet is dirty, you can clean it up pretty easily by pressure washing it. Otherwise, try car-part.com to search the junkyards for a "new" carpet. The carpet in my '95 LS was badly stained (Coke stains), and I considered having it replaced until the upholstery guy told me that Lexus is the only source for the carpet, so it would be $1,200-$1,500 for the carpet and labor. I pulled the carpet out and pressure washed it, and it almost looked like new, and it didn't cost any money. I've heard $600 +/- to have new covers put on all of the seats. What kind of foam work are you having done?
  11. That's a great looking car!! B) It's nice and quiet now too!
  12. Here's the PDF for P0441 and the trouble areas associated with that code... CI__P0441__P0446_.pdf COMP.pdf INSP.pdf
  13. It looks great Josh! B) I think I'd ditch the blue plate frame. It's such a modern looking car that in 2020, people will still be asking about your "new" car. haha
  14. Wow, you did an exceptional job on that car! Really, very well done! Did the owner happen to mention how much trouble it was to import the car? Those rims look like a real PITA to clean.
  15. I just used leatherique for the first time on my '99LS. I can't believe how well it cleans the leather. It really does sweat out the stains, dirt, etc. just like it says it does in their description. It's way more expensive than Lexol, but it gives much better results. It really stinks when you apply it, but it smells great (like leather) after it's all done.
  16. The part number you posted is correct. When I ran the part number that I found in the link with Park Place, it said that it had been superseded with: 48674-40051. Any time you search by part number on most of the Lexus dealer websites, they will tell you if it has been superseded. I checked through my receipts, but I couldn't find this particular one. Right now, I'm at 182k and some change, but I think I was at 175k or so when I changed these bushings. My strut rods were not making any noise, but I wanted to change them to rule them out in my search for a bizarre suspension noise coming from the front end. After changing the strut rods, the noise was still there, but the car tracked much, much better. I thought it tracked fine before, but after the new bushings, it nearly drives itself down the highway! B) Here's what the old strut rods from my '99 looked like. They were obviously worn, but I've seen worse... Here ya go....
  17. I changed just the strut rod bushings on my '99. You will need to press out the bushings with a big press; I can't remember if we used a 15 or 30 ton. It looks like Park Place is selling the bushings for about $40 a piece vs $115 each for the whole arm. Here's the part number: http://www.toyodiy.com/parts/p_U_1999_LEXU...2.html?hl=48674
  18. Does your Lexus have the factory car phone?..... http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/index...mp;#entry316387
  19. Register with the owners section on Lexus.com, and they'll let you view the PDF version of the manual, and they'll send you a printed manual for free, so don't pay for one at the dealer, ebay, etc.
  20. There are 4 14mm bolts hold the seat in, and there is one more 14mm bolt that secures the seatbelt to the seat. It's very easy!
  21. I think you are on to something. I'm in the middle of changing the valve cover gaskets on my '99. When I was putting the driver's side valve cover back on, I noticed something spark near the battery and fuse box. I tried starting the car, and it would just click. A few tries later it started right up, and everything worked like normal (ran like a top, 14v+ at the battery during idle, went in to gear, etc.) except the speedometer/tach needles didn't light up, although the malfunction lights cycled as the car started. I spent a while longer checking for OBDII codes and checking all of the fuses, and everything checked out. Then, a few tries later, it would just click. After reading this thread, I decided I'd check (just visually) the wiring in that area and try pushing the wires further in to their harnesses; I did this on the throttle body actuators, fuel injectors, coil packs, etc. I try starting the car after this and everything is back to normal. Maybe the arc was a curve ball, and I had actually snagged something when I was taking the valve cover out since it is a tight squeeze. I think it would be tough for the OP to have the coil packs plugged in wrong, since they are tailored in length to each of the 4 plug locations, but anything is possible. I wonder if he snagged a wire or something like I did, or perhaps mine just needed to sit with the battery unplugged for a while. Who knows. . .
  22. I couldn't find too much info on the forums about this. I've always found the base Lexus stereos to be quite good for a factory setup, but take that with a grain of salt since I've never heard the Nak before! http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/index...amp;#entry36028 http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/index...amp;mode=linear If your tires are balanced, the transmission mount is a good, cheap ($40-$50, I think) place to start. I changed mine not knowing what to expect, but it killed a vibration I had that felt like an out of balance tire.
