  1. I drove a Bmw 325I for 5 years and my sc400 for 6 years, no comparision the Lexus is a more superior car, although the beamer did get up to 185,000 miles and was still running like a champ. I use to buy and sell sc400's and I have seen them running in and looking like new with 200,000 miles and one with 325,000 miles all original, all ran great. Infact the car with 325,000 was sold to me with 55,000 miles showing on the cluster, I later ran carfax and the dealer records and found out it had 325,000 miles, I could not tell it was repainted at the dealer and the leather seats were redone, fooled me ran just like one with 55,000miles on, the engine and tranny were original as well. What gave the miles away were the pit marks in the front windsheild, and the worn out brake peddle pad. I never got the guy. End of testomony. Lexus is King.
  2. This is great a posting thread started to thank and praise our troops. You are all good peope!!!!!!!!
  3. I got two wood grain dash kits off ebay, and I love them both less then $100 each.
  4. Short in your electrical most likely, check fuses first, then wiring.
  5. Supra coilovers will fit, but as far as premium coilovers go, I would say the best are the tein flex's, that is what I am putting a set on my sc400, they're are just so expensive though! Flex's are middle of the road, and are not too soft or hard and can be adjusted, that is my choice. Basic's will work too but are not as good. What are you looking for in the coilovers? All out handling performance, or soft dampening to help with traction and eliminate wheel hop and enjoy the soft ride? It all depends on what your needs are as to which coilovers to get.
  6. Is it too late to get one at retail price and where what stores are selling? I heard Sears had the best deals on them but they are out?
  7. That's ok when I got you guys and these forums I don't need the manuals, but I am suprised that I am not getting much feedback on this post. I thought this post would benifit all readers. Maybe I did everything I need to due to get my engine running like it has 0 miles on it. Somehow I don't think so, but maybe these are awefully good motors? I was thinking what about other electrical components that may require attention after 12 years, maybe cleaning the injectors, tuning, transmittion attention, etc..that is the type of info I am seeking off this post. Is there a mechanic in the house!
  8. Looks like you have the bases covered pretty well, Nice job Here is a suggestion: I would like to suggest that you register at www.lexus.com go to the website and download for free the manual for there car and upload to there respective forums. We could get every manual stuck to the top of there respective forum and it would eliminate quite a few unnecesary posts and streamline these boards. I know that it may take a little time/effort on the part of willing members but the payoff is well worth it. Please don't reply to this unless you are going to participate. I really think this would be very helpful to all of us. Just navigate to http://www.lexus.com/ Click on :Owners" then :Register Today" After you are signed in click on "My Car" Then "Owners Manual" Scroll down and you will see the .pdf files for the manual of your car. click and save a copy to your harddrive then upload to the respective forum. Topic title should include the year and model[ Similar to the one I posted ]. Thank you for your time and effort. We could use an early SC manual ← Sc manual, what's to gain out of that? Is it updated? Will it tell you what wiring is getting crusty, what parts wearout at what time, etc... I am looking for hands on advise from people who did actual changes and found results, Manuals and writeups may miss a few things. That's my take on it anyway.
  9. Hey people, I have a 1992 lexus SC400, it was dealer serviced up to 75,000 it now has a little over 100,000 miles. I am trying my best to get this sc400 engine running at absolute peak performance and I am wondering if anyone knows what else to look for on this car that might need attention that I missed? Since owning at 75,000, I have changed the timing belt, spark plugs, wires, shocks, springs, serp belt, distributor cap, rotor, cleaned the throttle body, changed out oxygen sensors, battery, torque converter, synthetic oil changes on trans, dif, engine, power steering and brake fluid, new radiator, catalytic converter, mufflers, airfilter, fuel filter, and that's about it. I just found out changing the original main ground wire is a very good idea to restore lost horsepower, and now I am wondering what else I can do for the car that will help restore lost horse power. All suggestions are welcomed.
  10. Eibach lowering springs one inch, and tokico shocs.- Maybe Ebay for cheap buy. If you can afford a lttle more cash go with a coilover like teins. Late-
  11. BELIEVE WHAT YOU WANT, BUT I HAVE A FRIEND WHO WORKS AT A MERCEDES DEALER AND TELLS ME NEVER TOO BY NEWER MERCEDES THEY ARE LEMONS. THE OLDER ONES WERE MADE ALOT BETTER AND THE NEWER ONES ARE ALWAYS IN THE SHOP. GET THE GS430 IT MY NOT BE AS FAST AND RESPONSIVE OR EVEN LOOK AS GOOD, BUT IT WILL DEFINETELY BE MORE RELIABLE AND MOST LIKELY HOLD IT'S VALUE BETTER. CHEERS-
  12. OK- So out of all this I've come to the conclusion that the hyper voltage regulator that I have is probably more show then go. Also ground wires get old and lose their potency, and the $100 although put in an interest earning account may yeild the funds necessary for a serious mod in 20 years from now may be true, however in 20 years I will probably be driving a lincoln town car or Cadilac, or even a luxury hybrid, man that sounds crazy. So I think I will take SK's advise and waste the $100 on the neg wire set. Thanks people.
  13. Sk performance- I am taking your advise and changing out my ground wires, I posted on another forum and the experts seem to agree with you. Besides I checked my grounds they are looking pretty old, crusty, crispy and funky what ever you want to call it. It can't hurt it can only help. Thanks for the tip, SK! You da man!
  14. Penny pinching mods do give you hp if you do enough of them. These are mine that made a difference- 1992 sc400- Dragon Torque Converter- no hp gains but transfers immediately power to the rear wheels from a dead stop. Burn outs no problem. 2 1/2 exhaust piping. magnaflow cat, megan N1 mufflers- Nice hp gain noticed. Intake- Complete custom job, no real noticealbe gains except maybe at high rpm Nos- 100hp+ That is a big difference, allows me to race and hang with most sports cars. Supra LSD, larger tires and 18" rims- no hp gains but provides better traction off the line. Apexi piggyback ECU- 15-20hp gains. Notice the hp gains and the gas consuption as well. -S@S headers are ordered and on the way, and I am currently installing a 2" dual flex-a-lite electric fan and disabling the oil driven hydraulic fan which should free up 10hp or so. Headers 15-20hp, I am Considering some Kelford cams which would give me around 45hp gains. So you can gain horses without airforced induction, and I am living proof of that. Although I would not mind a twin screw whimmple supercharger in the future. I first have tp rebuilt the internals to handle the massive hp and nos if I want to do that. I am working towards that and freeing up room for one with the electric fan install. Those intercoolers take up room. See ya Is that you Monarch? SK is right on this one. ←
  15. I was wondering if anyone knows if these voltage regulators really do anything, or is it just a fancy name for a capacitor? Company claims few hp gains, steady flow electric flow, headlights wont flicker, stronger ignition firing, etc.. What do you guys think did I waste my money? If I did it looks nice anyway, it blinks and what not. I already have a capacitor next to my nos bottle.
  16. Mine broke as well a while back and I replaced the regulator, but with that the top window screw broke where at the rail the and top corner of the glass are connected. There is a black round cap covering the screw. That broke and cannot be repaired, so my driverside window doesn't roll up so smoothe, most upsetting, but it works. Local junk yards for the window regulator, best price.
  17. Nice exhaust section looks like 3" pipes throughout. You should think about changing out those stock headers to maybe a set of S&S Headers. The stock manifold is probably the most restrictive part of the exhaust system. Straight thru mufflers aren't a bad choice either to compliment those nice exhaust pipes. Nice!!!!
  18. I HAVE INSTALLED A 1993 TOYOTA SUPRA TURBO AUTOMATIC LSD DIFFERENTIAL IN MY 1992 LEXUS SC400, IT WORKED AND MOUNTED LIKE A CHARGE. YOU CAN ALSO USE THE 4 PISTON FRONT BRAKE CALIPERS, AND SUSPENSION OFF THE SAME SUPRA.
  19. I would like to supercharge my 1992 Lexus sc400, does anyone know where I can find and order a reliable well built supercharger setup for my sc400? I can not find a perfab anywhere other than Australia, please somebody help? I am also looking for a set of headers for the same car? This is a California car about to move to Florida. I got this baby moving with nos and many mods, but I seek controlled acceleration to keep those rear wheels from spinning out in the first two gears. With a supercharger in addition to my 2 stage Nos, I should not lose any more street races to those amg's, and porches, and vets. Although I am neck and neck with the new vet's but an AMG E55 pulled away from me over the weekend and I cannot have that. HELP, I NEED MORE POWER SCOTTY!
  20. I tell you 2 1/2 piping from the stock cat to megan racing mufflers. Ebay and a local muffler shop, can get it all done for around $200. Sounds just right and perfect back pressure for low end torque. Great set up with the Dragon torque converter, do not change cat you will lose alot of low end and gain major top end.
  21. After a year of research and modifing my prestine 1992 Sc400 I found the perfect most cost effective set up if you plan to run a dragon torque converter would be 2 1/2 piping from the stock cat to the megan racing mufflers. I did this all for $200 ebay and a local muffler shop. I tried changing to a magnaflow high flow cat and lost alot of low end but gained massive top end to my suprise. This is slightly counter productive with dragon torque converter and nos. I went back to the stock clogged cat and got my low end torque back. If you want to waste money get an intake, I feel the stock flows almost as good as any high performance intake except for maybe a cold air box. This is my testomony and advise.
  22. Call local wrecking yards there are many lexus's that end up at these junk yards from front end collisions. I get all my parts from these wrecking yards, for pennies Turbo LSD differential complete for $500. This will mount up to 1992 sc400 for better traction since my sc has been modified.
  23. GO TO INTELEXUAL.COM THAT GIVES YOU ALL THE UPGRADE INFORMATION AND PART COMPATABLILITY YOU WILL NEED TO KNOW
  24. MY SUBWOOFER POPS WHEN I TURN UP THE VOLUME PAST 75% DOES ANYONE KNOW WHAT SUBWOOFER UPGRADE I SHOULD GET I LIKE TO RIDE THE BASE AND I NEED A VERY GOOD SPEAKER? THIS IS FOR MY 1992 SC400 MODIFIED.
