  1. here is how I did it on my RX300 http://www.clublexus.com/forums/rx-first-g...-for-rx300.html
  2. the idle control valve probably needs cleaning. I know on the RX300 cleaning it has fixed a lot of folks problems. here is what it looks like on the RX may be similiar on your car. http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/index...c=30723&hl= here is is on the SC http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/index...showtopic=30723
  3. I was taught that a long time ago, one bad customer relation will generate the loss of 10 customers. I know I personally prevented at least 10 people from using Lexus of Roseville after my dealings with them....I tell everyone to use Lexus of Sacramento....probably same ownership, but the general manager, shop foreman, and service advisor just put me through too much....Treat people as if you want them to return forever, and they will, Getting that signature on the dotted line is only the first step in a relationship with a dealership, the service department has to continue it until the next purchase. There are some really dumb managers, that are so numbers driven they have lost site of the forest through the trees.
  4. Yea, They are tough belts. But since you and I are knowledgeable, my luck it would have failed....I think He should go buy a lotto ticket...
  5. I am so sorry, I hate the bad dealerships, the good ones are far few. I would call corporate Lexus and talk to them.....
  6. If you have had all your service there, I would talk to the general manager and ask for a good will replacement.
  7. Your probably fine, but some have said time wise the belt should be changed. I would wait till next year, the second stimulus package might provide you one, just kidding. maybe someone can give us the required time/versus mileage thoughts. I know on this engine they will make it an easy 100k miles normally.
  8. I doubt that is the problem. Give us a code, but I suspect there is debris in the valve body preventing the piston from moving and hince your lost of fourth gear.....Your tranny may be toast. that solenoid actuates a piston which creates a chain of events for shifting. but if the valve body which has the little pistons is gummed up from metal debris than they wont move. The only other possibility are the tranny speed sensors. Read this post: http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/index...showtopic=57542
  9. cduluk you are truely a asset to this forum. You spent time and worked through the problem in a logical manner....Well done....
  10. this is from my past, My dad had a 1966 Corvette Stingray. Offered to sell it to me (1980) and i didnt go for it. The Car was immaculate. anyway He sold it and one week later the Highway Patrol called him and asked where he wanted his car towed to. It had been in a major accident and was totaled. What sickening news after having babied it for all those years. The girl that got it was drunk and with a boy friend and they hit two telephone poles. They both survived but the body and frame where destroyed. Turns out it was her third wipeout of cars her daddy had bought her..... The reason they called my dad was the registration slip was still in the glove box and hadnt been transfered yet....
  11. why bother, just get the toyota one, or buy Wix filters online...Lot cheaper and both are very good quality.....
  12. If it has HID lamps, which was a option, they are very expensive. If the hid computer went out it alone is around $1000 at dealer cost.
  13. Yes apparently some autoparts stores have the wrong sensor location also. The sensor on the front of the engine is Bank2, The rear next to firewall is Bank 1 sensor 1. The sensor down by the Catalytic converter under the car is Bank 1sensor 2. here is Bank 1, sensor 1
  14. good choice, you will be happy....
  15. Carson toyota.com partsgeek.com Venders advertizing on this site Park Place Lexus The list goes on: Rock auto.com Tirerack.com I have used them all successfully....
  16. Just did this on my daughters 4.7 sequoia. Same basic engine. Use OEM parts only. Partsgeek.com has mitisubusi timing belt which is OE. I would change water pump while there. No real special tools for a DIY. need torque wrench. And way to remove crankpulley bolt. (Ihave a air gun) by the way AISIN waterpump is also an OE part...Good luck
  17. Hey as picky as costco is with their wear policy and putting tires on, it was their idea. Said the tires are virtually the same, same rubber compounds etc. I could call Michelin and find out....
  18. Should be able to go an easy 115k on timing belt. then order parts at partsgeek.com the mitsubosi belt is an OEM belt. You can order an Aisin water pump which is also OEM manufacturor.....
  19. I bet he would have smiled...
  20. Yep been there, I even hauled dirt and rocks on top of a tarp in my minivans. Kind of sad, but without a truck you do what you gotta do. Now i have a truck, first one in my life.
  21. tirerack discontinued that size 225/70/16. anyway went to costco, they said the put a latitude on. said was basically same tire (different tread pattern)...Then they wanted to prorate. I politely told them that their plug failed and caused my tire to be damaged and I would not pay. they called manager and he agreed. Said they had never had a plug fail.
  22. Then your only choice is to find a place that works toyotas only. they generally have very good experience working on the cars because they get the older ones and have seen all of the problems....good luck. The only other thing is that your knock sensor wiring harness is deteriorating or bad knock sensors.
  23. there isnt an egr in the RX300....do you use regular or premium fuel....???
  24. The plug was a patch with a plug that comes from the inside. they have to break the tire down to install. I am mystified how it failed, unless done incorrectly or defective. I know the plug you are talking about, I have some myself. This is a different animal, kind of like a one legged table shape. the leg goes through the hole and the table is left inside the tire. As for the Cross terrrain. the size is the problem. they dont make it anymore.
  25. Here is a example of the contacts and what can be done, instead of the starter: http://www.nationsautoelectric.com/instructions.html Also the dealerships sell the contacts as a kit....
