The belt can actually be seen by removing the upper timing belt cover on one side. I did the entire job for $230 which included the timing belt, idlers, and waterpump. The cheapest quote I got was around $1400......Took me 5 1/2 hours, but hey I dont get paid that kind of labor cost....I did it for free on my daughters Sequoi, (same engine as the LX470) I used Toyota timing belt, and OE waterpump and bearings....

Oh my bad, I just did this work on my daughters Sequoia, her's is in plain veiw. I have not seen the LX, maybe it has a external cover over the left cam area....

Than they didnt do the job right, the darn sticker comes with the timing belt....they are just lazy....by the way the sticker is supposed to be placed on the timing belt cover on the left side of the engine...per instructions...

My son is 29, but bought his ES350 when he was 27....

by the way an injector staying open is real bad, if could flood the cylinder and cause hydrolock which could destroy the engine. On The Ford F150 this has caused bent piston rods and worse. I would definetly let them fix it.

I would go with Akebono and Brembo rotors....nice combination and they last a long time.... Tirerack.com has them as well as some other venders.

So if our legislators had read the bills they create, and did some proper thinking, the banks rules would have been changed to accomodate the Tarpe money in a more efficient manor? That is why big government and lobbyist are going to tear our economy down. Look at medicare, social security, welfare, and education. They are all disasters, because government can not manage OUR money (taxes)....If we think government is the solution, than we forget that they are the problem....

Probably a transmission fluid drain and fill.....

Is the check engine light on? Did you clean the IACV? Did you check for any broken vacuum lines?

I hope you didnt get the alternator from Checker or Kragens...I have had bad luck with there rebuilt alternators. Also are your terminals clean, and the connections on the starter clean....?

Or go to an independent muffler shop and get it done cheaper.....

I understand what you both are saying, And I am a big advocate of helping returning vets through any of their problems. We owe it to them. Thank God for our vets. I just feel the Secretary of Homeland Security had no right putting out publically a list which put Vets at the top of the list, as potential terrorist. Not terrorist, but potentially unstable yes.. Terrorist are what those wonderful folks did to us in the Trade Centers, Pentagon, the Embassy bombings, etc. Two very different personalities. A terrorist has a mission of distruction to our way of life and our country. The Serviceman that kills or snaps is an individual that has mental problems which need to be dealt with.

I just did the timing belt, waterpump, idlers, and serpentine belt on my daughters Toyota Sequoia (same engine as in the Lexus) Took me 5.6 hours and cost me $240 dollars in parts. Just for everybodies info, the belt was really limp (105k miles), the idlers were fine, but I changed them anyway. The Water pump was fine. The serpentine belt idler was noisey, and the fan support bearing was noisey. Interesting engine, found nothing difficult, just a lot of parts to remove. I suspect the waterpump and belt would have been sufficient, but the big v-8 seems much harder on the timing belt than my RX300. At the same mileage the RX300 belt looked and felt brand new. By the way Toyota quoted me best price of $490 to change the timing belt alone....

I believe, first that this kind of thing should never have been allowed to surface to the public. Also check the surface of the Crankshaft to see if it is scored. The seal can cut a groove if it has become hard, and has contaminants on it. If it is lightly scored just take some very fine emery paper to it to remove any burrs. If it is deep, there is a device called a crankshaft saver that slips over the end (very thin stainless steel insert) that provides a new serface for the seal to ride on. They work great.....
