  1. Need to know what the codes are...Knock and missfires will both cause loss of overdrive....
  2. Is your AWD or front wheel drive...If AWD are they talking about driveshaft to rear wheels? Could just be the bearing sleeve mounts in the center of the car...My Car is AWD and I am at 182k miles and have had no problems. If you hit something on the road and bent the drive shaft I could see that causing your problem.
  3. Here is all you want to know.... http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=30723&hl=
  4. Here is a great thread: http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=53999&hl=
  5. Koyo and Mitushubusi (belt) are oem manufacturors...I would stick with them....Can be found on Ebay, Partsgeek.com, etc or any fine sponsors on this site.
  6. I remember the girls would bend over to give drinks to fellow passengers and their bottoms said property of PSA....
  7. ON the RX forum Bosch is hit or miss, we recommend Denso....by the way sold on amazon for $100 or less....recently.,... http://www.amazon.com/Denso-234-9009-Oxygen-Sensor-Ratio/dp/B000C5YCZ2/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=automotive&qid=1284579262&sr=8-1
  8. Maybe if they dressed that way there would be less tension on the airplane now....I know in those days it was party time....
  9. Yes that plug drains the differential of all tranny fluid...That area shares the transmission fluid and when you add to the tranny you are also adding to that part of the transaxle. http://www.clublexus.com/forums/rx-first-generation/220061-photo-diy-rx300-awd-transmission-fluid-pan-filter-change.html look at post number 3 on this thread, there is a hex screw behind the tranny drain pan plug...is that what you are referring to? if so it fills when you add tranny fluid to the transmission.
  10. Yes and the military during Vietnam would pack us on those flights on Pacific Southwest Airlines and the Girls were very accomodating considering all of the fun we gave them. Boy those were the days....imagine 70 young guys with girls dressed like that, then that night you got off the bus to the awaiting Drill instructors and 90 days of no girls.....
  11. No the left side or drivers side. The thermostat is near the battery.....
  12. Remove the battery to give yourself better access....The thermostat is mounted in the metal pipe going into the intake valley of the engine...on the left side of the car.
  13. Still could be the CV joints, under load causing the click...Wheel bearing? ABS sensors going bad...? Keep us posted
  14. Probably a dirty IACV valve...See this posting for the RX300 which should be similiar on your car http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=7408&hl=iacv
  15. Go to RX300 forum in this club and at the top of the page there is a how to section which generally covers anything you need to know..... http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=52026
  16. Is it covered under your warranty, or are you past do? I just did a rack on a nissan, but From what I understand the old RX300 isnt bad, not sure about the RX350....I would look under the car and see if it is really leaking. My RX300 is 12 years old and has never leaked....
  17. I too was with Bank of America for over 38 years....When they took the bailout, I bailed out....Closed everything and went with one of my Credit Unions....By the way they are the Bank of no service....They would consistantly post my deposits till the last moment...(That is how they make more money off your money). I noticed my mother in law gets her social security a day later with B of A versus my mother whom gets hers a day earlier with the Credit Union...As Clark Howard says dump the big banks and use a small bank or your favorite Credit Union.
  18. Kyb is what I have read and been told also...I replaced all of mine With KYB, they work fine....
  19. Sure it is not the water pump leaking? How can they not find the problem.? Especially if it is that bad.
  20. I hope you all filed a complaint with the better business bureau....Also file a written complaint with Corporate....
  21. I would reset the Computer by unhooking the battery for 10 minutes than see if things improve. The only other thing is the MAF sensor (clean it) The ECU will go through a new learning curve with the sensors and hopefully your mileage will improve....good luck
  22. that is the one thing that has happened with customers at GOOD lexus stealerships, is many have gotten customer loyalty replacements with varying degrees of assistance....I guess that is great for those mechanically challenged that pay a lot for their service....I am happy they treated you that way...For the rest of us that love working on our cars for all reasons, we have to pay out the nose for that same tranny replacement....
  23. I would love to have an LS but the little woman wants a suv type...So we are with the RX300....Hopefully in the future a 400H.....
  24. the lock motor is probably weak. Here is a $5 Fix we have done on the RX300 forum...Will work on any electric lock door regardless of car....long thread but you may find it interesting.... http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=41219&hl= would suggest reading most of it and at the end folks have come up with better solutions for location of lock....nice pictures also.
  25. Yes i am, just trying to figure out where. I was thinking around the door handles. there is a little black u shaped cover that would do nicely. Thankyou for the compliment, still not up to your work, but it was my first attempt. The curved wood made it more of a challenge....especially with the cherry veneer.
