Hey finally got to look car over and clean up a little...It Does have Adaptive HIDS, I was mistaken...There is one thing that bothers me there is some oil below the cylinder head on a frame member, dont know if it was a spill or leak, guess I will have to clean it first. It is below the filler area down by the transmission...I will post a picture. Just below the radiator hose...Any thoughts...

Well after a interesting weekend and not enough compromise from Lexus on a CPO Car, found a RX400h which was 1 year newer, but had 88k miles on it. So We now have a 2008 with all of the same options except for the HIDS which dont track...AWD, Silver, Mark Levinson, premium package, and $5000 cheaper....And I must say the entire experience was extrememly pleasureable. Had to drive for 1 and half hours to see it but it is done...So I join your ranks after owning the RX300 for almost 13 years..(bought in November 1998) It goes on Craigs list this morning...So I know I am looking at timing belt coming up, and a lot of learning for this car..Any thoughts I still havent decided on the extended warranty, I bought it but can recind during the next 30 days with no penalties...Good to 150k or 6 years. The car was from Carmax whom i have never used, but I was extremely happy so far. So what maintenance should I be looking at in the near future? :) :)

We got home at 10:30 Last night...Pictures Today....

:chairshot: Agreed, way to high...YOu are the first to know, We drove a hour 15 minutes to a Carmax (yea i know) and we just saved $5000 for a RX400h which is a 2008. one year newer than what is offered at the Lexus CPO dealership....They just would not deal...Told them on my last call that I was driving to Carmax to look at a cheaper RX which was newer...Equipment was identical except the the Hid's which are fixed....Sorry Lexus, you lost my business. May I say the purchase was very pleasant, and they too gave us free coffee...and a full tank of gas...and offered a warranty which I have to decide on... :chairshot: :) :) :) So We are now a hybrid driver....

Well offered $28000, they didnt like the offer, Went thru the usual, I offered $29000, but held firm...They have called twice last offer was for $30500 from them excluding tax etc. I Confirmed my offer of $29k excluding tax and license...So far no go...If it wasnt meant it wasnt meant. Tomorrow is another day. Love their tactics, well it is a CPO car, and the interest rate for finance is 2.9 percent. I said that is fine, but if they didnt like the terms than I would gladly give my Credit UNion the business as I am sure they would like to earn the 3.9 percent interest....so it goes, doesnt look good for my end of the court...As for the trade in price I was giving them a low ball price... The condition of my RX300 is close to excellent, but I gave them a low price for the trade in...I figure at most they paid $26.5k for the RX400H...So my offer of $2900 isnt bad... I am not frustrated though, its just a car.... <_<

Thank you...Yea $28000 plus give me $5000 for my RX300 and I would pay for tax and license with cash, and finance $23000.... The cars only issues was moisture behind the right headlamp assembly, which they said they would fix, and a loose rear view mirror...which they also said they would fix. It is a CPO car with the warranty to 100k miles...or 3 years...

Thankyou for your comment, The dealership looked like they were really hurting sales wise, no customers, Could this be a time for me to offer $28000 and see what happens..????Or negotiate price along with some future service like the 60k service?? Any thoughts...I have seen the same RX400's on their lot for over two months...I believe our local economy is being very cautious.....

Ok, little woman and I went and drove the RX400H this evening, it is a 2007 with 53k miles with Nav, backup camera, Mark Levinson sound, 18 inch wheels, AWD, heated seats, hids, rain sensor wipers.etc. The Car was a two owner car, original from Burbank CA. and up to 42k miles with all service in system except from 26k to 42k miles...???? The second owner bought the car in April 2010 and it was kept only 9 months until Jan 2011. The car has been sitting on the lot for a month. Asking price has been dropped from $32998 to 31998 this week. The Car is immaculate, has Goodyear tires (not sure about these) and no apparent leaks anywhere. The battery is unknown as for replacement (12v) but may have been done in April of 2010. The Car is silver. What are your thoughts, and what would be a good offer price.?? Salesman said ipod interface could be added to the Satellite radio selection for $300 is this possible?

wow hopefully a great ending for you...I know your pain, I lost my transmission on my RX300 at 100k miles and was very dissappointed...Lexus said they would give me a break...After all said and done it cost me $4300....I love the car, but that really hurt...Still driving it almost 13years in November. I am looking at the 400h for a replacement. I noticed you are on here a lot..Do you still like the vehicle...sorry about stealing the thread.

400H, To Buy Or Not To Buy
lenore replied to cahungus's topic in 04 - 09 Lexus RX330 / RX350 / RX400h
Man I am jealous, I looked online and found a 2007 for 31k that has 53k miles...Is that too high? It is AWD, and all upgrade options including back up camera, Levinson sound, etc. It is a cpo car... -
Yea Roger, that is why I work on mine, also to save money.....Have found few and far in between mechanics that do acceptable work...They are out there,I have dealt with them, and I trust them entirely. Just too many bad stories.....

Take pictures of the engine compartment, must have some smoke damage. as for the bushings take pictures and then send them to the Bureau of Automotive repair for fraud. The state has been active about false repairs...show them the request for changing the bushings and picture of what you have, they may want to inspect your car. I assure you the dealer will not want anything to do with the Bureau. Then call Lexus of AMerica and file a complaint. here is their web site (bureau of automotive repair) file a complaint. http://www.autorepair.ca.gov/

I would not think so...My RX300 goes around 70k plus on the fronts and 60k plus on the rears...we have AWD. Are you using aftermarket pads? If so stick with Ceramics....
-
Great shots...Wait till you go to Vancover and Victoria in Canada...You will really enjoy those side trips....

After market radiator is only about $230 total...then add labor. I would think $1100 for everything at an independent...(water pump, timing belt, and idler bearings) plus the radiator.

Front Axle Bearing / Hub Assembly Failed!
lenore replied to Zen Master Joe's topic in 06 - 12 Lexus GS300 / GS350 / GS460
That is for a RX300, I believe your vehicle is different. From looking at the part pictures it looks like your hub assembly bolts to the steering knuckle...just a guess from the picture. HINT: when trying to break loose the bolt on the axle leave the car on the ground with the center cap removed on the wheel so that you have plenty of resistance to try and break the nut loose. They can really be on there tight. Again a Haynes book for $15 would be a good investment in how to do for your particular car. -
I have done it on The RX300, should be the same. The worst part is pulling the hub assembly away from the axle. Unbolting the lower two shock bolts allows you to move hub away from axle. Be very careful when pulling axle from transmission or you could destroy the tranny seal....Also make sure it is seated (the new axle) into the Transmission. There is a spring clip on the axle which locks the axle carrier into the tranny.

Front Axle Bearing / Hub Assembly Failed!
lenore replied to Zen Master Joe's topic in 06 - 12 Lexus GS300 / GS350 / GS460

Front Axle Bearing / Hub Assembly Failed!
lenore replied to Zen Master Joe's topic in 06 - 12 Lexus GS300 / GS350 / GS460
Look on the Lexus site under Front suspension and then Brake components. The hub/bearing assembly is listed there for $223. If you have AWD, then you are going to have to remove the brake and caliper assembly as well as the caliper mounting plate. The axle nut is going to require a lot of torque to remove. (my lexus RX300 is torqued at 156 foot lbs) So you will need a breaker bar and large socket. Then you will have to knock the axle shaft out of the hub and probably undo the shock mounting bolts to release the steering knuckle. I would suggest getting a Haynes book or google for info on how to replace the axle drive shaft....
