  1. ahhh...never even occurred to me to check the dealership. Thanks!
  2. Nobody sells lexol around here for some reason, but Schucks sells this stuff called Blue Magic. It comes in two separate bottles, one is cleaner the other is conditioner just like lexol. And it even says on the bottle "Guaranteed the best you can buy." Anybody know anything about it? Are leather cleaners basically all the same as long as it's not a 2-in-1 mix or something? Thanks
  3. dang. you should line up all your cars and take a pic and post it on here. can't an upholstery place just replace the one panel with new leather?
  4. This might be a long shot, but I believe there are adapters for later model ES300's that probably come with some sort of wiring diagram, you could try and scavenge one of those. Have you tried peeling back the black tape and looking at the wires themselves? Sometimes they have which wire is which stamped on the sleeve.
  5. Thanks guys :D I'm really happy the way they turned out, can't wait to get them mounted on a car!
  6. Hey so my roommate and I decided that this summer we're going to get a project car and build it up. We've chosen an MKII Golf or GTI. We don't have the car yet, but I already started on my first project. I was browsing through craigslist for no reason and came across some wheels I've been looking for forever: They're just some plain, kinda ugly 5 spokes, but they're exactly what I've been looking for, because they closely resemble these: rota slipstreams. I think they're freakin sweet. So I read up on painting wheels and I went to work. This is what I had to deal with when cleaning them up: After much scrubbing, sanding, and grinding with wire brushes and drill attachments, they were ready for primer: And after a few coats of Duplicolor graphite wheel paint and some krylon clearcoat, here is the finished product: I think they look pretty sick for about $100 worth of stuff (including the wheels). The tires were shot anyway so I didn't have to worry about masking anything off. We're looking at a white Golf with a bad heater core and 200k miles in the next week, I think these'll look awesome on it. I might strip the paint off the lips though and give them a polished lip, but I dunno. What do you guys think?
  7. looks nice! I would paint them black or silver, but if I had to choose one I would say black. maybe a glossy black if that's possible.
  8. I see the bumper and headlights on ebay all the time, I dunno about the rest. For the lock, I don't know what brand you have, but the ones I had (McGard I think?) if you didn't send in the registration and stuff when you got them, there was no way to replace them.
  9. Hey none of the auto parts stores in my area sell Lexol, I have to special order it. But before I do, I just want to make sure I'm ordering the right thing. Can someone tell me what it is I'm supposed to order? Maybe post a UPC or SKU number from a bottle that you have? I don't wanna go in and say "I need some Lexol" and then have them be like, "Ok..do you want the conditioner, leather treatment 1 step super formula... blah blah" or whatever. Thanks!
  10. Hey thanks for the response. I've installed so many cd players I can't even count, but I've never installed one with some fancy factory tuned stereo. I think I might have asked my question kinda weird. I'm wondering what all those RCA jacks are that are coming out of that wiring harness in the ebay auction, and what did the guy mean when he said that. Do those RCAs from the harness all plug into the factory amp to power the speakers? I thought that the rest of the wires would take care of that, which is why I'm confused on why there are rca's in there too. If you could clarify that would be great thanks
  11. I bought my car with the cd changer "broken" but it turned out it was jammed too. I unscrewed it and took it all apart, it turned out that one of the cd's had somehow gotten out while it was inside and jammed everything up. So I unjammed it and put it all back together and it works great now. Ok I just realized all that was unnecessary. Just take it apart and unjam it.
  12. I bought my radiator (replaced it probably 7 months ago) on ebay. I also bought a new radiator on ebay for my old civic which my little brother now drives, and that was almost 3 years ago and it still works great. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...ssPageName=WDVW http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...ssPageName=WDVW (might be wary of this one, dunno why it's so cheap) http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...ame=WDVW(bought the one in my ES from this guy) http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...ssPageName=WDVW (bought the one in the civic from this guy)
  13. Just out of curiosity, what would moving it the other direction do?
  14. the only thing I have heard of is to make sure the oil changes were kept up regularly because these engines are particularly good at creating sludge. So make sure they have all the maintenance records and such. Do a search for used car buying tips as well to look at all the little things you should do when inspecting.
  15. ...I noticed what this guy said in this ebay auction: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...5776784525&rd=1 I was shopping around on ebay for the dash kits and wiring harnesses for the new cd player, when I noticed he wrote this: What gives? The cd player I want has 3 pre-amps in the back. On aftermarket cd players, do all the preamps go to the factory amp? And what are all those RCA's coming out of the wiring harness? Please don't give me a speech about replacing everything if I replace on thing because I know that and I plan on it but that's not a concern of mine right now. Thanks!
  16. I was looking for a nice 4-door car when I found mine. I actually was doing a search for an Accord but mine happened to be mixed in to the search because the word accordingly was in the ad, and it was cheaper and has 1/2 the miles of the accords I was looking at.
  17. I don't like it. Then again I don't like any of the newest Lexus models.. I like the generations before. :\
  18. I'm going to get one of these: http://www.sonicelectronix.com/pictures.php?id=2498 It looks reasonably stock to me. It doesn't look like it sticks way out either, and it's not super flashy. Or if you wanna get something real nice, there's always this: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...ssPageName=WDVW
  19. it's a piece of crap. I bought one with a schuck's gift card I had, and it sucks. It's pretty tedious to use, and the filter goes bad after three uses. New filters are like $10-$15 each. which is pretty bad considering I bought the whole thing for like $20. I wouldn't recommend it. Just use a chamois or whatever those things are called to dry your car off to get rid of spots.
  20. very nice! I was wondering though, what are those buttons on either side of the e-brake? I have those little holes but there are just some blank plugs in them.
  21. just a random thought I had, I love how the 92-99 (or 2000?) ES's all look pretty much the same. people think mine is a lot newer than it actually is :D
  22. that totally sucks. in WA I think it would be both driver's fault. because technically you are supposd to yield, so you are at fault there. but she was speeding and illegally using the suicide lane as a driving lane. so she's at fault there. but...that doesn't really help any I guess. sorry to hear :(
  23. well, everything worked. I have an ipod mini with a tape adapter, and some rca cables coming out to an amp and subs. It works, but I should've thought this through better. It's annoying as heck trying to select songs I wanna listen to while driving. The sound quality is excellent --- when you find the right balance between the ipod's volume and the headunit's volume. Too much ipod volume = lots of distortion and scratchiness, too much headunit volume = lots of hissing noise. So, I've decided to scrap the idea and just buy one of those 2-din mp3 cd players since i found out you can get a bezel for it. Anybody want an ipod and lots of cables?
  24. 76k on my 93 es...but i bought it less than 6 months ago with 65k :(
