  1. is that the right FCC ID? I searched and found nothing. I tried to contact the seller but she hasn't responded and it's been about a week..I might just cancel my paypal payment since she falsely advertised the key.. <_<
  2. stevie, the guy said you could program it..and it was only $40 shipped. I figured I might as well give it a shot for it only being that much. I'm just more disappointed now because I can't get it to beep after I follow all those steps. I do the open door, lock unlock 5 times, close it, insert key, yadda yadda....but it never beeps. So yeah. I hate this.
  3. Hey, I bought a key off ebay that has already been cut, it was probably from a junked car. Anyway the seller advertised that you can reprogram it to your car and that isntructions would be provided on request. I haven't gotten the instructions yet, but I read on here that you have to turn the ignition on twice as one of the steps. Only problem is that the key isn't made for my car, so it won't turn in the ignition. Can I trick the car by turning my other key for this step? What do I do? :(
  4. steviej and sk, you are the men! :) thanks!
  5. Hey I was just wondering if the taillight emblem is just adhered on with sticky stuff, or does it have prongs that go into the taillight to hold it in? I'd like to take it off and move it to the trunk, but not if there are prongs that would leave holes in the tails. On that note, is removing the tails an easy job or are they caulked and silicon sealed on? Or is it just a gasket and some bolts? Thanks!
  6. I think when I replace the struts I'm going to replace them with tokico blue's from ebay..they're like $350 shipped I think, and then just take them to any performance shop..like SK said it'd be around $200. I have replaced shocks and springs and lowered cars before but not a lexus..I don't trust myself for that :) mine are kinda creaky and they squeak too... I think they need to be replaced. but the ride is still way smooth
  7. alright. well as far as I know the oil was changd regularly except for the one right before I bought the car...it was changed and then sat in storage for a year, then I bought it and changed the oil. It seems to be running fine, I've only used synthetic oil since I bought it. Is there a 'test' of sorts to see if there is sludge?
  8. so does that mean if the t-belt broke on a pre-1999 es300, the engine won't get damaged?
  9. well, I guess I could give that a shot, but I really doubt they'd give tech support or any kind of support for their product if I bought it used off ebay.
  10. I was too lazy to read the other replies, but if you grab your drivebelt and kind of twist it so you can see the underside... if there are cracks along there, then it's a good idea to get it replaced. Mine has cracks all along the underside, but I have a buddy who owns his own shop that's gonna do it along with my CV joints. I just need to find the time to take it in :(
  11. alright... well I'll take your advice and call around, i guess it's better safe than sorry. That would suck trying to install a better rearview mirror and end up ruining my windshield.
  12. Hey, after reading the topic about sludge problems, I was wondering about oil system flushes. I took the little pamphlet from my local shop and it said they use a "proprietory treatment solution" or something that flushes the used oil from the engine, and removes 99% of all used oil. I know if I asked the mechanic what they used he would give me the runaround saying it's a special blend of this and that yadda yadda. So I'm wondering if anybody here knows what's up with an oil system flush? Are they worth it? Do they work? Can they prevent sludge? And so on? Thanks!
  13. Do all ES's have this "non interference" thing? Or just newer ones? Mine was replaced at 60k before I bought it :) only at 72k now..
  14. Contact www.lextech.org and Brian will fix the needles for a fair price , I sent my 93 es300 cluster to him and I am very happy with my like new dash cluster. B) ← Maybe I was looking at the wrong part of the site, but I went to lextech and only found lighting upgrades/fixes for GS and SC models.
  15. Hey dude thanks for the info! I'll have to call around about removing the old mirror. Is the adhesive really that good? You'd think a shot of rubbing alcohol and a couple hits with a chisel would work..I don't understand how the windshield would break from that.
  16. Yeah it will be for a sub. How do I connect it to the speaker wires? Do I cut the wires and then attach like a splitter or something? Or just strip a little bit and electrical tape it together? Also, this line level converter has probably 15 holes with screws in them for an input and an equal amount for the output..how do i know which ones to use? I probably should've just oredered this directly from scosche instead of saving a couple bucks on ebay
  17. thanks for the heads up! I did a search on ebay and found lots of those gentex mirrors..I think I might go with one that has a compass in it. I also found a lot of mirrors manufactured by gentex but they were out of chevy tahoe's and such, and they were a bit cheaper. I'll let you guys know what happens if I get one..I need to recover from my christmas spending first. :)
  18. I just got one of these on ebay: http://www.scosche.com/scosche.aspx?Catego...=36&ItemID=SLC4 And it didn't come with any manuals. Can someone tell me exactly how to set this thing up, or does anyone know of a site with manuals for something like this? I didn't have any luck on the scosche website.. I'm trying to add an amp to my factory radio, that's all. I'm guessing it's just two wires running off the speaker, but there's all those little holes and screws in it..
  19. Hey I am able to get an autodimming rearview mirror for pretty cheap and I was wondering if I could make it fit (and work) in my 93? I know there won't be a plug for it but if I routed wires up there or something would it work, or is there a separate computer thingy it needs or something? Also, my dome light..when it fades out, it fades out kinda chunky. Like it's not smooth, you know? I was just wondering if there is a way to fix that to make it smoother, like cleaning the bulb contacts or something. Any ideas? Thanks, you're all wonderful!
  20. lexol eh...sounds good, can you just pick it up at an car part store like schucks? as for the alarm install, is there anything to look out for when shopping around for an installer? any specific questions I should ask? thanks!
  21. hey dudes I have two questions: 1) I went to lexus and they quoted me $350 for a new remote key. That's ridiculous. I would much rather just go with a nice aftermarket alarm. I found a few with lots of extra toys for around $500, and to me the extra cash would be worth it since they come with shock sensors and such. My question is, can you install an aftermarket alarm on a car with a factory alarm? I wouldn't do it myself, it would be done at car toys or something. 2) I was just wondering if that leather treatment stuff you can buy is good or bad for the leather. I've heard armor-all is terrible and should never be used, but what about leather treatment goo or oil or whatever? I want to preserve the interior as well as possible and I don't want to prematurely warp or crack the leather. Thanks!
  22. that's kinda weird...dealerships around here work on all cars. My dad has taken his civic to get the oil changed at the local ford dealer for years...
  23. I usually fill up at around 300 miles, but I've gone as much as 350 miles on a tank, and there were still about 2 gallons left.
