Well folks, the day has come. My company recieved our deployment orders today. "You will proceed to the National Training Center, where you will complete not less than 45 days desert training at Ft. Erwin California, From January 16th through March 3rd. After which time, you will stand by, in a Deployable status, ready to recieve orders to be to your destination within 18 hours from time of reception, with a Deployment date of no later than 1 AUG 2007... Benjamin C. Freakley, Maj. Gen. US Army 10th Mountian Division Commanding" There ya have it. I Deploy No later than August 1st, but i have to be ready to go within 18 hours notice from the 3rd of march. Just thought my friends at LOC would like to know. yes i will be able to take a computer and get internet, and yes i will have calling abilities. I will also have 2 weeks of leave prior to deployment, at which point, i will head for Ft Worth texas to spend the last 2 weeks with family and friends. then, 6 months in, i get 2 weeks R&R, (free flight back to the states!) in TX, then again, after my return, i get 2 weeks leave. woohoo! I cant wait to deploy, add more money to the IRA :)

NC, thanks, you have no idea how much it means to me, and the rest of the army, that we have loved ones who stand behind us in our time of need. We need to stay focused, and in order to do that, we need the support of our friends loved ones and family back home. the wives, and children, baking cookies to send to daddy in Iraq, even though when they get there they will be stale and hard, daddy will still pass them out to all his battle buddies, and they will all enjoy them because they are from HOME. and they are made with love. the wives are at home kniitting blankets to send to their husbands, and even through the stitching is crooked, or the colors dont quite match, we love them, cause they are from home. Sned us anything, we dont care, cards, candles letters, just keep us going. Now, more than ever, is when we need your support. These small towns around military bases (WATERTOWN NY ) are exactly as you describe. people all around losingtheir homes, business, lives, but they still wake up every morning and put their flag in their front yard, and get in their hoopdy and drive the commute to work with a ribbon on their hood or their trunk. To those who support us, and to those who dont: We dont do it for the money, or the rush, we do it for you. For the people who are out there selling us our papers, and cooking our meals, and fixing our heaters and our cars, because in all that you do, we cant do what we do without the civilians. Freedom is not free, and If we dont fight for it, all those souls (some 48,000 in vietnam and closer to a quater million in WWII) who fought and gave the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom, would have dies in vain. My dad gave half of his life to serve this country, and this country gave us many great things. thats part of the reason i am where i am today, serving our country, to give back to the country that gave so much to us, and to take my fathers place and step up to the challenge. I hope every day that i can amount to even half the man that he is. To show you just how strongly i feel about this, my girlfriend just broke up with me because of my job, and my last Girlfriend, of almost 3 years, cut it off because she "couldnt handle it". well you know what, NOBODY is gonna tell me i cant do this job, thsi job is a part fo me, and if they dont like the job, then they dont liek me, it comes as a package deal. ...I don’t do it for money, there’s bills I that I can’t pay I don’t do it for the glory, I just do it anyway Providing for our future’s, my responsibility Yeah I’m real good under pressure, being all that I can be And I can’t call in sick on Mondays when the weekend’s been too strong I just work straight through the holidays, and sometimes all night long You can bet that I stand ready, when the wolf growls at the door Hey I’m solid, hey I’m steady, hey I’m true down to the core. And I will always do my duty no matter what the price I’ve counted up the costs, I know the sacrifice Oh and I don’t want to die for you, but if dyin’s asked of me I’ll bear that cross with honor, cause freedom don’t come free. I’m an American Soldier an American Beside my brothers and my sisters, I will proudly take a stand When liberty’s in jeopardy, I will always do what’s right I’m out here on the front lines, sleep in peace tonight American Soldier, I’m and American, Soldier." I think we all know who sings that, and it rings true. But, when we are deployed, we dont try to fight for the world, or for freedom, its all too big to grasp. We just hope we are strong enough and brave enough to fight for 9 year old katie, who will turn 10 while I'm gone, so that she may have the opportunities that i had, and many more. (no she isnt my chilld, she's my cousin, but i would take car of her should the unthinkable happen, I love her as if she is my own.) My friend wrote me a letter from the sands of bagdad, it said this: "Josh, you dont know how good it was to get your letter, even though it was written 4 months ago. it takes awhile to get mail here.... There is still fighting here, but its slowing down. We still lose people every day, and its hard, I lost 4 guys from my unit to an IED explosion on the 12th of november. they didnt even knwo what hit them. my good friend from basic was clearing a room on thanksgiving weekend, when he was shot and killed. You just dont realize ho wthick the *BLEEP* is until you are in it. and by then its too late. I'll see you when you get here. take care" So to all those who support us, thanks, and to all those who dont, guess what, you do it anyways, whether you want to or not, you file your 1040 form every year right? Like tracy Lawrence says, Time marches on. And so does the Army. Take care, and happy holidays. Oh, and if there are any families fo soldiers on this site who have soldiers deployed or who are deploying, feel free to contact me for support. we have to take care of each other.

Looking At Purchaing A Craftsman Mech. Toolset
ArmyofOne replied to widowmaker03's topic in 90 - 00 Lexus LS400
a little chily and snowy, other than that, no harm no foul, plow through the snow and turn up the heat. :) -
1. no 2. i think so. on some engines, you can get to them through the oil pan by removing the oil pump and it only takes a few hours, on other brands, they are on the outside fo the block between the engine and tranny.
-
No they arent, they are cake onthe ES250. disconnect them from the diff, and from the hub and tap them out. its easier if you remove the tierods and ball joints too.

Restoring Lost Horsepower For An Sc400.
ArmyofOne replied to JIBBBY's topic in 92 - 00 Lexus SC300 / SC400
Looks like you have the bases covered pretty well, Nice job Here is a suggestion: I would like to suggest that you register at www.lexus.com go to the website and download for free the manual for there car and upload to there respective forums. We could get every manual stuck to the top of there respective forum and it would eliminate quite a few unnecesary posts and streamline these boards. I know that it may take a little time/effort on the part of willing members but the payoff is well worth it. Please don't reply to this unless you are going to participate. I really think this would be very helpful to all of us. Just navigate to http://www.lexus.com/ Click on :Owners" then :Register Today" After you are signed in click on "My Car" Then "Owners Manual" Scroll down and you will see the .pdf files for the manual of your car. click and save a copy to your harddrive then upload to the respective forum. Topic title should include the year and model[ Similar to the one I posted ]. Thank you for your time and effort. We could use an early SC manual ← as soon as i get my computer, i will do this for the ES250. also, if anyone neeeds a manual for it, i will send it for free, all i need is an address. -
Thanks Army! B) I did not know they were factory. ;) ← Yep :) the camrys had em too, but theres were bigger for some reason.

haha, you have to sing it to the tune of the christmas carol!

i dont understand you dude, one minute you are preaching about "stick to your intervals, follow the manual and use factory replacement OEM parts" the next you are spouting "I reccomend extending the interval well beyond what it was inteded to be" pick a side please. to the poster of this thread: Having worked on cars nearly all of my 21 years, i can assure you, i have seen what happens when timing belts and timing chains break. it is nto pretty if the motor is interference. AS A MECHANIC i do not reccomend extending your interval much beyond 10K extra. jsut because you never know. the belt may look alright, but it may be cracked or dryrotted inside, may have a weak spot thats waiting to show itself. on these engines its better a $650-%800 timing belt job thean a $4,000 (or more) engine rebuild. as i said, i have seen this stuff happen, its nto pretty. I saw a 3.8L V6 (GM) timing chain break in a grand prix. the pistons came up and bent the valves, which punched holes in the pistons. then having metal shavings on the oil scored the crankshaft, and the cylinder walls. the engine was RUINED.

I must confess, i drove my friends 85 Olds cutlass (307 V8 woot woot!) and i can see why some of you are more comfortable pushed that pulled. its a more natural feeling. but it was difficult to get that car to do anything more than slide in just a few inches of snow thatwe got last night, i cant imagine what it woudl be like in 12 inches or more!

With regard to the car cover, my buddy in Lake Tahoe says the genuine Lexus car cover he uses has a fleece underside that helps prevent sticking. And the car cover I got at Walmart that's made of a semi-waterproof material made by Dupont doesn't stick much to my car in freezing weather. BUT, out here in the West our humidity is lower and we have sunshine on most winter days. Out your way where its cloudier and more humid I concede even the best car cover might have problems sticking to the car overnight. With regard to the air conditioner I agree the AC compressor will run when the windshield defroster setting is selected, but this is only true when the outside temperature is above freezing. I would imagine most of your winter mornings in New York are below freezing. Sometimes even below zero if you are located in the interior of New York State !! ← you are close monarch, but like has been said above, in order for the defroster to do its job, the A/c system has to be activated, no matter what temperature. that is why if your a/c system is inop, your defroster is not as effective. about the cover, granted, the best covers have the flesse underside, they are good for not scratchingt he car, but once the cover hadheres to your paint, even when heated up, it will not release, at this point the damage si already done, all you can do is yank real hard, and hope you have a good coat of wax. Im on the northerin side of NY state, by the St Lawrence river (30 miles s. of the canadian border.) so yes,its cold here :) .

Looking At Purchaing A Craftsman Mech. Toolset
ArmyofOne replied to widowmaker03's topic in 90 - 00 Lexus LS400
haha very true, i need to take a pic of my tool bench sometime :) craftsman is excellent for the average DIY'er. i dont liek to go the pipe route on a breaker bar, because in the case fo thinsg liek bell housings, if you snape the bolt, thats ALOT more work. -
it will run normal, you will just notice a decrease in gas mileage, if anything at all. :D the O2 sensors are emissions related, not much else.

Timing Belt Change At 130g
ArmyofOne replied to pearlwhite97ES's topic in 92 - 06 Lexus ES250/300/330
the struts ae your upper strut mounts banging around, check them, il bet they are dryrotted. open your hood and look at the strut towers, if the rubber in those is dryrotted, replace them :) otherwise, its your ball joints...these are fairly easy and take about an hour per side if you kwo what you are doing. they should run about $30-$40 a piece from toyota. the camry ones wont work, have to have lexus :) that might be your steerig problem as well. to check the ball joints, look at the rubber around them, if they are swollen, dryrotted or leaking grease they need replaced -
Sure thing, oh and the 92-94 i bleieve is the 1mz. :)
-
What kind of noise? if it is a high pitched whine at low speeds, then there is nothing you can do, its semi normal. getting the fluid changed (flushed, but DO NOT POWERFLUSH) will help some, but they all do it. yes, im a former ES250 Owner. :) Hope this helps. now if its another kind of noise, like a clunk, or clanking or thudding, or a growling then let me know and we will take it from there. :)

Don't worry, I think it going to be alright, my brother shorted out the brand new battery on the Montero Sport while install in it. After connected all cables to the new battery he accidently drop the wrench accress the ground bar and Positive charge of battery, fire when up, I had a battery in had and knock out the wrench while it's in red. After ward, the car starts up fine. ← wha?? I dont understand, let me read slower. LOL. EDIT: I understand now, and yes, its amazing how events can transpire.

Sure, call 803-556-1710, I'll tell you everything I know. and if i dont knwo it, I'll find the answer and get back to you. Its as simple as fixing your own car, over time, you will learn these things. between me, brandon and jason, we know all there is to know about the ES250.

In dry conditions, thats a big negative, yeah you will have understeer, but with a FWD, all you have to do is let off the gas and DONT TOUCH THE BRAKE and she weill slow down enough to regain grip. In snow and ice, through the parking brake, the !Removed! end will slide around and if you are doing any decent speed (witha handbrake) you can control wthe amount of skid by how far up you pull the handle, then once she is sliding sideways, turn into the skid and apply the gas, and she will pull right out, straight and true. i do it regularly, sometimes on purpose, sometimes not. Apply throttle in a RWD car (too much of it anyways) and she wont power out of the skid, but rather into it and you could be looking at the headlights of the cars behind you in a matter of seconds if you are not extremely careful. the other key to driving in snow is DO NOT MASH THE GAS. once your wheels break traction, its hard to get it back, and pushing the pedal down more, only makes the wheels spin faster, it doesnt help you get going quicker. No he wont, you ever seen a civic (modified of course) take a autocross track, some of those turns are taken at over 90 MPH in the mdoded cars. i never said my car can do that, thast ludicris, but some modded FWD's will handle bette than a stock corvette. but you are right, ultimately, when both are modde or when both are stock, RWD will prevail in almost all departments of performance.

You are correct. as for the ES300: 1990-1991 ES250, Non interference 1992-94 ES300, Non interference, 95-up ES series, Interference.
