Time For Loc Sc Owners To Shine In The Northeast
UCF3 replied to steviej's topic in 92 - 00 Lexus SC300 / SC400
You and some of the other members should plan one. Let us know, and we can advertise it on this site. -
April 25, Major Meet Planned For Northeast Region
UCF3 replied to steviej's topic in Club Events and Meetings Forums
Rob: It doesn't matter if you have the LX. It's for enthusiasts. :( I won't be able to make it. I have two qualifications to attend in Indianopolis. I probably wouldn't attend it anyway since it's on a SUnday--Rest Day. Can someone plan a meet on a Saturday. This way I can go. :( -
I haven't had that much trouble with my LS in snow. I've had to make some rules for both of my rear-wheel beauties, and have turned into a Marylander(drive slow in snow, and afraid to drive) compared to driving my G20 up north. Otherwise, driving in both snow and rain is great.

[AARON123: I have been wondering if some 225/50/17 will fit on my 1990 ls400. Would the 225/50/16 you have tried be the same size as the ones I am wondering about in just a different rim size. Did they rub at all?] on your stock rim the only size that would fit is the 205/65/15 tires. If you're interested in buying the 94+ rims from Lexus, then your optional tires change. Use Tirerack's Website and check out the different generation LS models, with Differnt wheels. I believe the wheels are interchangeable between the years, ie Lexus LS400 205/65/15-1991, 225.65.16-94 and so on. I'd check with MrSypher, Lextasy, VMF, and SW03ES since they are the ones who know more about wheels than I do. You can also check with the guys from Tirerack.com and see what they say. PS: You might want to click on "Quote", or "Quick Reply" instead of "Report this post to a Moderator" if you other people to see your post.

Hey man, the link that you put up is dead. got another?
-
It doesn't hurt to check with some Chain stores (Pepboys, autozone, advanced auto, Online/Ebay)
-
I'm guessing the fuel pump(Bad) or the Fuel Filter(Dirty) might be the problem. Otherwise I'm out.
-
yeah, that is truely a beautiful job. When are you going to Dyno? :D
-
I believe this person just added a custom casing for the Amp and took out the Spare tire for the Subs. It can be done, if you have the money. I don't think they removed the Fuel Tank
-
I think I've posted a comment on the LS Forum. They are good performance Tires.
-
You most likely won't be able to get a wider tire until you switch to a wider rim. You should be able to go to a lower-profile tire. BTW: Your tires should be same as my SC300 225/55/r16. My question to you is what are you trying to do with your GS, and what exactly do you want to do with your GS?
-
bbic: I had Michelins on my G20 and they were excellent. The only problem with the Michelins are they have softer sidewalls. If you hit a curve, you're likely to have a blow out. I like em both. If you're looking for tires I suggest getting a good tread pattern like the Aquatreads.
-
I have my doubts if they will explode. I can understand a high level of wear, and at the worst case it just destabilizing or getting unbalanced, but not explode. I've driven my winter tires at 80-100mph, and it didn't do anything. If I was to recommend, get a good tire set from Michelin or Perelli. Even Bridgestones will survive.

Is your car jerking when at idle as well? If it doesn't, sitting in neutral, rev the engine and see if it jerks. Also, if it happens at a certain speed, you should consider cleaning your throttle body, and your fuel injection. Also, check your fuel filter. Sometimes they get clogged.

Welcome the club. I'm going to agree with the rest of the members. Adding Dura Lube to Mobil 1 isn't necessary. If you're trying to clean your Fuel Injectors, then it's okay, but there are cheaper ways of doing that. :)

assuming stock hp numbers: 250/3200=0.078125 200/2825=0.070796 ummm... the sc has the power:weight advantage. lol, you owned yourself on that one :P. Hites: A Stock SC400 weighs 3700lbs, and is this supposed to be the Power:Weight Ratio time for the 1/4mile?

Nikki: Welcome to the club, and congrats on the purchase. With regards to you question here goes: 1) The trunk Shock needs to be replaced. You can pick up a pair of them for under $30 from Pepboys. It is relatively easy to replace, and if you need some instructions, check the "tutorial" or workshop sections of the forum. You can also PM myself or AWJ and we can help you with some instructions if the posting does not exist. 2) I believe it was entered by another member. 3) Regarding your inquiry about a moist headlight case, yes it can happen, and it is rather common on the early SCs. If you want to replace the housing, they are expensive, but if you want to clean them, check the Tutorial/Workshop sections of our club. If it doesn't help, visit This Webpage. 4) The Tac. issue is a little harder to fix. Unfortunately, nobody is willing to tackle the Tac issue for the early models Lexus. Without looking at your gauge cluster I'm guessing one of the bulbs needs to be replaced. If you want to tackle this, I would recommend checking out the FAQ and Performance Parts Thread in our SC FOrum. I have a couple of links that might help. 5) You could visit a junk-yard a see if you can buy the individual parts from a wrecked SC. You could probably get the door handle that way as well. I've never dealt with Sewell Lexus, so I don't know what they have or what price they're selling their parts for. If all else fails, you can Private Message me, and I can get a quote from my parts specialist. I hope this helps answer all of your questions.

was it suppose to beat me? if you compute the power to weight ratio of the 92 MR2 Turbo to my model of the SC400 which is the lightest -i think 3600lbs due to lack of options like heated seats or trac control- i would win anyways. well for correct numbers: there are 14.5 lbs for every horsepower in the mr2 and i beat it by 14.4 for every horsepower in my car. and if you look up quarter mile times for the mr2 turbo and sc400, they are almost identical, except my year and model is the lighter of the sc400's. Actually, the MR2 was definitely supposed to take out your car. Somethings wrong here. Your car weighs, what 3200 after your weight reduction? The MR2 weighs 2825lbs and is a mid-engine/RWD. Better power to weight ratio'd, compared to the 92 SC400. Somethings wrong. The MR2 should have beat your car hands down. What are the Specifications for you SC? Also, what's your 1/4mile time?

Excellent. Those two metal strips must be connected to the knee level trunk opener <_<

I asked Advanced Auto the other day and they haven't sold those books for the Lexus Brand. They had a Toyota Camry and Tundra Book, but that's it. I doubt they exist. maybe in the future.

Are you referring to an aftermarket alarm?
-
VBDenny: Have you called them? (See the Pinned Thread, Climate/clock). I've used fuel and oil additives before. The oil additives didn't help much, since I use Synthetic. Fuel Cleaners need to be repeated. Only way to make them work over time. There are a lot of link on our forum that talk about cleaning out the throttle bodies. Doing a quick search will link you.

Have you checked out the stuff on Tirerack.com

It doesn't hurt to replace the Distr. Cap, but don't have to, especially since the Grand Prix is on. Removing all of the covers will take you some time. Expect to spend at around 2-4hours just removing the all the covers off the block. Definitely get metric with a variety of sizes and extensions. You can do the wires at a different date or time.
