  1. it's the same case with the i35 and the c class (unless it was amg). they dont have too much popularity in car magazines.
  2. i can make it from nyc to boston and back again on a full tank of gas which is 420 miles with exxon 93 octane. i noticed the car eats up gas above 3000rpm when im at cruise control doing 80-85 and i would get only 350 miles. 80mph is exactly 3000rpm so i cruise at 65-77. even when accelerating from the toll booth, i make sure i dont go over 3000rpm :D
  3. if you want the sporty feel of an is and the luxury of an es, why not go for a used gs?
  4. wow i didn't know the ES had VVT and the camry doesn't. does that account for the difference in hp between the two for a non-vvti?
  5. it should work on the 1mzfe non-vvti es. i saw an ecu for sale on ebay which said it was for both the camry and es300 1mzfe. it could be the same although no one knows for sure. if it isn't, then there could be a problem with the the supercharger disengaging between shifts. another problem is the actual supercharger clearing the hood. a lot of people are put off to installing a supercharger b/c of price... its roughly $3k.
  6. as soon as i get the right bracket for the reinforcement beam, i'll get straight to work. any advice given will be appreciated. like... what spray would you recommend to prevent thread breakage when unscrewing the bolts? and some painted chipped off where the beam meets the chasis and some rust appeared. what's the best solution to get rid of the rust and re-paint the area?
  7. hi welcome to the club! i have a 98 ES which doesnt have traction control or vsc and it gets the job done during blizzards. im running on stock 15in rims and all season tires. i can tell you for sure it does A LOT better in the snow than the IS or GS. i asked someone with an IS if the snow mode in his car works and he says all it does is kill gas. one time i saw some idiot in a GS attempt a broken U turn in 4 inches of snow. he wasnt goin anyhere and held up traffic! i havent had any problems doing broken U turns or parallel parking. as long as you take it easy with the throttle, the front tires have no problem gripping because most of the weight of the car is in the front.
  8. LOLS!!! so true. it's fun to see the members flame each other.
  9. $850! :o im need of replacing my bumper. online the bumper cover goes for about $250 including shipping plus another $250 (hopefully) to have it painted and installed.
  10. its crap. here's a website which i found very useful in knowing the differences between all types of bulbs. http://www.autothing.com/P-Support/psupport-bulbFAQS.htm
  11. toyota is the richest car company in the planet! they can afford to take risks with a with a gs competing against the m division or an es300 with more sporty pretensions. i dont know how the scion is selling in other states but in ny, i haven't seen one on the road yet! i think high performance lexus cars are marketable in that infinti and acura aren't really seen in the same class with mb and bmw and lexus is. i just hope lexus is entertaining the idea of a separate division for high performance vehicles. they were better off taking a gamble on that then the scion. as for now, i'm a little bothered that the volvo s60 t5 has more balls than the es330 <_<
  12. good points! i guess what i want is something big, practical, and fast... possibly an awd gs430? that thing is going to need more than 300hp, maybe lexus can work in conjunction with trd to come up with some supercharger package so the gs can compete against the rs6 and e55? anyways, back to the es... i believe there's a limit to how much horespower you can put in that car to the point where it's not exhibiting too much torque steer and wheel hopping. so i think lexus can do better than 225hp... 240? as for competitors, i dont expect an es to out handle a 3 series but should be almost as fast as a 330i auto. 0-60 in high 6? fun thread guys! keep it alive
  13. the IS is too small and the GS is real wheel drive. why not have the practicality of fwd and 270hp? i think lexus should at least consider it, with cars like the acura TL and infiniti i35 in mind. i wouldnt mind if lexus did what nissan did and put the same high hp motor in their enitre lineup, it would probably be cost effective too. 270hp IS, 270hp ES, i dunno maybe 300hp GS?
  14. imo, a car doesnt have to be a sports car to put 18 or 19 in rims. i think the factory 16in rims are too small for such a big car in the first place! the ride on that car with stock rims is so smooth that some people who test drove it claims it "has no soul!" so i guess bigger rims would alleviate this somewhat, plus it looks nicer too!
  15. that kit has been thrashed upon on the "other site." but imo, its not that bad. u have to rememeber to look beyond the wing, custom grille, and and covered taillights and the kit looks decent. the drawback though is that it's made of fiberglass which is prone to cracking and difficult to install because of fitment issues. if u dont find yourself parking in between cars so often, then fiberglass is acceptable. this is the HOTTEST fiberglass kit i've ever seen!
  16. i was able to removie the assembly amd now i cant put it back on! there's a black little thingy that doesnt bend easily and i cant push the assembly down to fit it in. ;) edit... long story short... i hit a pole a while back. the damage? both headlamp housings have cracks and this... how its suppose to look like. that black metal thingy is not meeting the bumper. this is making it hard to put the headlamp assembly back on. i dunno if its the bumper or something hard and metal that is bent. ;)
  17. the front tires but thats b/c the es is a front heavy car.
  18. this guy did it on his avalon! :D http://www.cardomain.com/memberpage/227169
