  1. dangs... i hope the latest lexus cars have jacks with bigger bases. i was only able to finish putting in the spare b/c a cop offered me his jack which is from a crown vic police cruiser. i dunno if domestic models have bigger jacks b/c the jack that came with my cousin's maxima is crappy too! but then again, nissan cuts costs wherever possible and a crown vic is a big car...
  2. i just replaced the h7s on my car with the cool blue. the original h7s were philips... is that factory?
  3. right on the money alan! cost was $120 for new tire and alignment. the black plate was pulled back, noise is gone, and everything's all good!
  4. so i was on my way to my cousin's house in mineola and all of a sudden, i hear a large explosion and it turns out my right front tire is blown. to make things interesting, there were about 6 other cars that pulled over b/c of a flat. it was dark so for all i know there could have been a bed of nails and i wouldnt know it. to make a long story short, the crappy jack slips, flat was already out, and the front end drops on the disc rotor! as im driving with the spare, i hear a grinding noise. my question now is, is it just the rotor being bent or will i be expecting costly damages? i am also plenty *BLEEP*ed the my brand new michelin pilot got shredded beyond repair!
  5. i opted for the cool blues mainly becuase they were cheaper than the silverstars. so far i have the high-beam 9005 installed and i must say, it's a definite improvement over the factory sylvanias that came with the car! installing the bulbs was no problem although i scratched my hand a couple of times against the fuse box and battery. my only quibble is that their website advertises a bright white color and the sample lamp they had was noticably white. my bulbs didn't look that white, still a little yellowish. i guess if i want a truly white hue, i should go for hid but so far i've seen only "off-road applications" and id rather spend the money on a speaker upgrade. i would have gone with the silver stars or the piaas extreme white but i did some research and learned that they last only a year depending on how often they're used. http://www.autothing.com/P-Support/psuppor...rt-bulbFAQS.htm anyways, i like the cool blues i have and i recommend them becuase they're inexpensive and much brighter than stock.
  6. the spoiler from spoilers4less.com i like it :D
  7. i saw some strut bars for the camry on ebay costing around $20. the trd bars are well over $100. is a strut one of those things where u get what u paid for or its just a steel bar that braces the strut towers?
  8. i have a 98 so i'll most likely go with the cool blue for the h7 and silverstar for the 9005. the piaa's are quite expensive... why is that?
  9. im lookin to replace the bulbs i have b/c they dont seem bright enough to me. i want bulbs that are really bright yet are still street legal. any suggestions?
  10. hmmm... 85k is kinda high for any car. i suggest getting a newer car with less than 50k that comes with warranty. a corolla is very good car considering it gets good gas mileage and its the most dependable car on the planet! but then that car has no pick-up so the maxima is the car to get if u need that kind of thing.
  11. u could make it like the is300 with the mesh grill look?
  12. wow that is a nice car! but since the airbags have been deployed, u gotta check for any major mechanical damages. seems like the fender, bumper, headlamp, hood, grille and airbags have to be replaced... maybe more. but then again.. its a 2002 es300! yea im feelin the interior and the silver paint.
  13. i hear ya prozac. one thing i hate is when some kid in a civic w/ one of those loud a$$ exhaust wanting to race from a stop light. if it was some old dude driving an es, they would ignore him but if it was a young buck like myself behind the wheel, they start revving the engine and thinkin they're fast n furious.
  14. i have a 98 es300 that my father bought for me to drive to school. my family isnt mtv cribs rich so an is300 or gs300 is out of reach. so far i've spent $2000 of my last summer's earnings on a sony xplod mp3 head unit, spoiler, paint job on certain pieces. my last project would probably be a sub and amp installation. an es300 makes for an excellent city car but it aint no ultimate driving machine. try plowing it through corners and you'll feel the understeer! the seats are too unsupportive to speed through corners. but going in a straight line... wow! 0-60 is so so but floor the pedal and it hits 90 like it's nothing! braking is equally as impressive as 60-0 can be done with ease. some people say an es300 is a slow car? :snoooorrrtttt: :chairshot: haha! ive spanked maximas, j30s, accord v6, integras, 240sx... the list goes on. :D so far ive hit 125 and some have claimed 140mph or more. speeds at 100+ is an interesting experience; the car floats up and down which gets a little scary. in the highway, i only go 60 because friggin bloomberg got cops giving tickets all over the place. if im not paying attention, the car hits 80 in which case i slow down immediatley! so yea, thats the car i drive. its aight but if i was out of college and working... id keep the ES and try to put a down on small house or something. one day i'll have a GS :P
  15. i saw this online http://www.airpowersystems.com.au/unichip/...a/camry_v6.html "The V6 Camry comes to life with optimized fuel and ignition. Significant gains are made throughout the RPM range with improvements in outright acceleration and driveability. The Unichip not only enhances power and torque across all throttle positions throughout the entire rev range, but significantly enhances throttle response, driveability, fuel economy and outright acceleration. "
  16. most car stereo shops dont even want to come near a 97-up ES300 because it's a !Removed! install a head unit. to this day, there is no kit available. don't be surprised if the first shop you go to does a crappy job as what happened to me. i could have gotten the custom plate done at another shop that would look just like hoebag's with the unit sinking in but i wasnt prepared to shell out $150 for some plate. just stop by home depot and buy 1/2in or less thick mdf board, a jigsaw, some glue, and vinyl from a fabric store. materials will cost you $40. the mount came with plastic frame. sony xplod mp70 -JR
  17. Are cross-drilled rotors just for show or do they really dissipate heat effectively to the point where it dramatically improves braking? I figured just the front rotors will do since most of the load is in the front.
  18. i asked the dealer at Lexus a while back what all those intials stood. GS = grand sport sedan ES = entry level sedan LS = luxury sedan dunno if those are correct. im guessing LX = luxury sport utility and the IS = in-line 6 sedan? as for RX = i totally have no clue ;)
  19. The longevity of the Panasonic batteries that Toyota puts in their cars to me, are questionable. The Racecraft battery that I got from Strauss Auto performs well. Me and this girl would be chillen at the front of her apartment and we would be in the car from 12-3am. So, I have the stereo on for 3hrs, adjusting the power seats numerous times, girl uses the light in the vanity mirror, hitting the horn a couple of times :whistles: and after all that power draining, the car starts without a problem. I've had bad experiences with the Panasonic battery; 1hr of stereo usage in the Previa and the car doesn't start. It could be because the thing was 6yrs old? The Panasonic battery in my 98 ES lasted 4 years! In my uncle's 99 GS, 3 years! Actually we got our cars at about the same time from the Lexus dealership and it was interesting how both our batteries died at about the same time. Those used cars are outside the lot not being run for who knows how long so maybe the batteries were affected in some way. The salesperson at Strauss said Racecraft was the best brand they carry and a year later I'm still satisfied. :P
