  1. It could be the ABS activating. This should not happen unless the streets are wet or there is a chance of an imminent wheel lockup. By any chance, is your Lexus dealer, "Bay Ridge Lexus".....I noticed that you're in Brooklyn? They have an excellent service dept that could check this out for you.
  2. You Can't! That's the way it was designed. Read the Navigation Handbook that came with your car....it'll give you the reasons for this "Safety" feature. B)
  3. Read> http://autorepair.about.com/cs/productrevi...l/aa052601a.htm
  4. Bad Idea!!! By doing this you're causing extra air into the oil filtering system which in turn prevents the new oil from circulating immediately. I just take an old towel and lay it underneath the filter to catch the spilled oil. There really is not that much oil that spills anyway. ;)
  5. In 1992 the ES300 did not use a red coolant. I think they changed to red starting with the 1994 ES.
  6. Was the system back flushed? If not then I think it was a half assed job. IMO. You have to insure that most rust and contamination are flushed out of the system before you put in new coolant!
  7. The self leveling headlights will adjust up or down depending on the cars suspension geometry. As an example: If you have people in your rear seat, the back of your car is lower then normal, so instead of your headlights blinding an oncoming driver, your headlights lower their beam automatically.
  8. It's true that changing ball joints will affect the caster and camber settings, but it will not affect tire wear nearly as much as incorrect toe settings. ;)
  9. Good luck Army. Come back safe.....I enjoyed reading your posts. Signed, SFC Alan - US Army (Korean War)
  10. I also suggest an alignment after changing any front end parts. Or at the very least, the toe in/out should be checked.
  11. It might fit, but the screw holes might be in a different place on the '05. Just a thought.
  12. It could be making this noise due to a bad strut. You should bring the car to a qualified mechanic, not a bodyshop to check this out.
  13. OK.....now, does this sound happen when you hit a bump, or while making a turn, and at what particular speed? As I said before.........it's almost impossible to diagnose a problem unless you describe it more fully. <_<
  14. You could also get an external hard drive pretty cheap. In fact I just bought a Western Digital 120Gig external HD from CompUSA.com for $99.95 after $55.00 rebates. This deal is over, but they're always coming up with good deals. I bought it essentially to backup all my 1000's of photo's, plus other stuff.......and it didn't even make a dent in the space used on this drive. ;)
  15. Your description is a little too vague. What type of noise is it.......a rattle, squeaking, or what?
  16. Read this, it'll give you a good idea about channeling> http://www.rodandcustommagazine.com/techarticles/86378/
  17. yep, been there and done that too. ever chop the top on a 48 ford? never really channeeled all that much, what is involved? (PM me if you want). did alot of chop tops and custom molded fronts/rears, like a 59 caddy deville rear on a 57 bel air. that was COOL. B) heh, i was a car plastic surgeon. my dad did mopst fo the work, but i learned SOOOOOOOOO much. ← Not on a '48 Ford, but a '41 Ford convertible. But the biggest thing we did was to the engine & transmission. Full race cam, holly dual carbs on an Edelbrock manifold, put in Lincoln gears into the tranny. It's really hard to remember all the modifications that I used to do on the many cars I've worked on. It was a long time ago. Lot's of stories I could tell. :) BTW: I took a 6" section out of the mid section of a '41 Chevrolet Coupe and also chopped the top about 3". Doing this type of work required welding and leading in. Then plenty of adjusting the window mechanisms. Let's just say, we had the time to do all this stuff. It was fun and also a learning experience.
  18. How about chopping and channeling car body's? B)
  19. Happy Birthday Army! :) I can remember when I was 20 and modifying my fathers 1950 Oldsmobile Rocket 88 with dual Cadillac carburetors (Rochester) on an Edelbrock manifold... Plus a dual straight thru muffler system... and then de-chroming the car and giving it a super lacquer paint job. Ahhh.....those were the days. :( I bet you young dudes don't even know what I'm talking about.
  20. Actually, steviej alternates his cleaning schedule....1 day he cleans the topside of his car.....and the other day he cleans the underside......and he gets all the great polishes from the super detailer, SWO3ES. HEEHEE :D
  21. Look at the picture of my car at the bottom of this post. That's a spoiler from spoilerdepot.com. I found them to be reliable and their spoilers are top quality. :)
  22. its pretty cool...i like when they have the brake light on em though...n I never saw a lexus 003 se (pic is backwards) my g/f has the spoiler i want on mine...its the solara se one... ← Does this look better?
