  1. Hi: I used to replace my oil filter on Lexus ES300 with the toyota filter: 90915-YZZD1. When I went to a toyota dealer asking for this, I was told it was replaced by 90915-YZZG1. Before I start working on my car, just want to confirm if this filter is ok or do I need to hunt for a delaer who has 90915-YZZD1 ? TIA Ray
  2. any idea where I can find the TSB so I can have a printed copy when I take the car to the dealer? Thanks Ravi
  3. The car is less than 2 years old and less than 30K miles on it. I have not even taken it for a brake inspection. Should I? Thanks Ray
  4. I have a 2003ES. I have noticed that car vibrates pretty bad when I brake at speeds 45-70MPH. Have other users seen something similar to this? Anything wrong with the brakes? I am not sure if I have always had this. But lately it seems to be more. Thanks Ray
  5. steviej : could you please send me the pointer about the tutorial you are talking about? Thanks Ray The tranny plug is the drain plug for the transmission fluid. This is even easier than doing and oil and filter change. I do a drain and fill every 15k miles. Look in the tutorial section for the thread I post on this. It's on page two in that section. thanks, not bad for for 45,000 miles at the time of that picture. steviej ←
  6. steviej: thanks. Thatz perfect. BTW what is that tranny drain plug? Thanks Ray
  7. I am trying to change the oil and oil filter in my 2003 ES 300. I am not sure where the screw is to drain the oil from the car. I see one on my right when I am under the car with my face up. Can somebody confirm? Thanks Ray
  8. ford212.809: where can I get the toyota filter for $4-6? On the Toyota's website? Thanks Ray
  9. Hi: This is the first time I am planning to change the oil and oil filter on my 2003 Lexus ES300 myself. Does anybody have recommendation on which oil filter to use? I was checking some websites. The oil filter prices vary from $3 (FRAM PH3614) to $11 (FRAM DG3614) and the dealer charges $12. I intend not to go to syntetic oil. any thoughts/suggestions? Thanks Ray
  10. Hi: I followed the instructions in the owner's manual to replace cabin air filter. In step 2, after I removed the 2 pins and lowered the glove box, a 3-4inch cylindrical piston like structure (made of plastic) fell off. Now that I installed the new filter, I have no idea where this thing goes. I think this is the piece which provides the slow movement control for the glove box. Anybody have any suggestions. I will try to get picture of this piece tonight. TIA Ray
  11. Hi: I just purchased a cabin air filter from the Lexus dealer and they charged me 40 bucks. Is there a less expensive (maybe a generic one) that I can purchase from elsewhere? TIA Ray
  12. I purchased my Lexus ES300 from this dealer. The sales guy lied to me that lexus will offer free oil change for life. My bad that I didnot get anything in writing b'cos I just assumed all luxury cars come with this. So beware if you are being told the same thing. get it in writing. Ravi
  13. Hi: any recommendations for a good mechanic for ES300 in Alexandria, Springfield VA area? Thanks Ray
  14. I was told the new ES300s use a different type of air filter unlike the normal cars where the air filter cover just opens up and you can replace the filter. Is that not true? Ravi
