  1. Hi Insocal and welcome to the LOC. The best guess is the actuator in the lower part of the door that runs the glass up and down. You'll have to take off the interior door panel to get to it. If this is not it then the motor is the next place to look. By the way, when you replaced the switch in the door, did you check for voltage present? Paul
  2. I have the same type of experience with my dealer. Makes me want to come up with reasons to keep going back! LOL
  3. It's like a feeding frenzy of sharks.....only the strong survive. And it's not just car dealers. When a company pays you only a comission when you make a sale, and no other benifits, the sales manager owns you. And when there is a group of you competing for every prospect that walks in the door, It's everyone for themselves and the manager can play you against the other to maintain pressure to make that sale. It is a high anxiety way to make a living, but you can fall into a slipery slope of ethics when the bills at home are due and you've had a slow month. On the other hand, my Lexus dealer is like going to your favorite aunts house. Their sincerely friendly. We sit and talk about what ever I want for how long as I want. We'll look over the inventory list and pick out what sounds interesting. The amazing part is that the Service dept is the same way. Paul
  4. This would add to your "shop hours" and maybe some "a little help from my friend", but what would really make your ideas work at their absolute best, would be installing an equalizer. This one component would allow you to control the dash twetters seperatly, the mid-range in the doors seperately, and a woofer placed at you will. Their is always a matter of cost, but this config could be wired so that it could be wired for addition of components latter on.
  5. Hey backwoods, If I remember correctly, that amp puts out 150 watts. The attached link shows you the speaker size, and depth. The depth is what will determine whether you can put in a co-ax speaker. Places like Cruthfield is one source for finding speakers. However, there are problems when people start trying to changing parts around . Lexus uses a system of balanced crossover network and these types of balanced units run to the head unit. 6. I assume you've tried e-bay or a salvage yard. Another chance is "sewellparts.com" , a Lexus dealer in Dallas, TX. They have a large inventory of parts. And when you log-in, indicate you are a member of the "Lexus Owners Club". For club members they give a hefty discount. Good hunting !
  7. I'm impressed....go for it ! In your shoes I'd do the same thing. Allthough, unlike many on the site I have problems getting the cap off the toothpaste. LOL Paul
  8. Hi Nicole and welcome to the club. CuriousB is one smart cookie and can give you a lot of expert help. I can relate to when I was your age and a tooth--pick and a glass of water was considered lunch.....if you could afford the tooth-pick. lol My interest is in the continued wisdom of pouring more and more money into a 23 year old car that seems to be taking all your tip money from Saturday nights and then some. I understand that there are times when a person simply dosen't have any money to put down on a newer car, more reliable. True, when you can do the work yourself, that helps, but the car keeps getting older, parts continue to get brittle and wear, and your luck runs out when you look at the rearview and the tranny is laying in the street. Can you sell your car or get some value out of it? Just food for thought. Paul
  9. Great and fun "tell all" from a reporter with the famous Edmund's Auto publishers. The reporters assingment was to work under cover at more than one type of dealership to find out what really goes on between car sales people and that elusive manager that you never meet but always has to approve the deal. The paper is several pages long, but you'll learn a lot and a laugh. http://www.edmunds.com/car-buying/confessions-of-a-car-salesman.html
  10. Hi Lynhnn. Since you specified "Online", I assume you don't want to buy them from your dealer even though it's a new car. Two suggestions: sewellparts.com - Sewell is a Lexus dealer in Dallas TX. and offers a substantial discount on parts and accesories to "Lexus Owners Club " members. Just go to the web site I listed and indicate you are a LOC member as you log on. Secondly is pretty obvious, Use e-bay. It's amazing what you can find there. One problem you may have is finding anything you need for a 2013 since these models have only been out a short while. Also, I don't know if you find a 2012 or 2011 mat or net I don't know if it would fit in your 13'. For a brand new car and to keep it looking factory new, I would encourage you to go to Sewell or your local dealer and pay a little more for more. Paul
  11. Hi Thedoctorand welcome to the Club. A couple of things come to mind. When you said you replaced the battery, I assume you mean the main car battery. Is that correct? If it is, it would have nothing to do with your problem. My guess is you have a burnt out fuse or a bad amplifier.Check the fuse holders first. Just check your owners manual for where to find the right fuse and size. Let us know how things turn out. Paul
  12. I've never used a 99' LS400 GPS. But I can't imagine after 14 years it could possibly be cheaper to repair than to replace. Try e-bay or a salvage yard, or post on this site that your looking for a screen.....espescially message "dcfish". A club member and approved reseller of Lexus electronics. For a long shot from a dealer source, at a great discount to Club members, e-mail "sewellparts.com". If there is a Lexus dealer that has what you need they would be of help. Good luck, Paul
  13. Hey Johndoe, what a project, but the only one I've ever heard of who had enough money and apparently know how. So many people make the mistake with a Lexus of trying to upgrade the sound with a few different speakers or amp. Without having any idea about how Lexus has balanced all the speakers with the crossover network and muti amps balanced to the entire system. Please let us know how it''s going so we can learn along with you, Welcome to the LOC. Paul
  14. I've looked one over at the dealer, sat in it and had the salesperson take me through the mouse app's and so on. But to be honest, I'm scared to death to drive one because I know I won't be able to leave the shop with out buying the thing. Even though my 2010 is payed off , we had planed on just driving it for five or so years, and enjoy no payments for awhile .But every time I read a review from someone like you Steve, I start to get the cold sweats again. LOL One thing that I noticed on the 2013 was the lack of the chrome strip along the bottom of the doors. I wonder if that is something they will add in a few years if they bring out a "refreshed" version like they did with the 2010. Paul
  15. Have you seen the teaser pictures and video of the Lexus LF-CC, sent out by Club Lexus.? I want one now!!!!!
  16. The Caddy I drove before I purchased my last ES had the same problem. Floated in corners, especially on/off ramps, and harsh on pot holes. Felt luxurious when you sat in it. Thanks for the info Steve.
  17. Sounds like a plan. And you also get hit with the balance and mount cost (about $30 dollars each here) each time you change every season. I'll be putting my snow's on before Turkey Day and hoping it will be an exercise in futility. Take care and thanks for writing back. Paul
  18. Your sentence says "push and hold the button". Remember that you have to hold in two of the buttons, in any combination, at the same time to get the flashing light. If your doing this then you've got a car based problem since your remotes are working. Just went through almost the same situation. Frustrating! Let us know what you find out please? Paul p.s. In order for members to give accurate and useful help, it is a policy of the LOC that your side bar profile contain the Lexus model you drive and the model year. Your side bar shows 4 diffrent Lexus models. If that is accurate great. But please ad the model year for each.
  19. Welcome Nikhilsk to the Club. Glad you chose to join. I am not an expert on any thing so I won't be able to help you much.. But I can perhaps send you in some right directions. Changing the cars battery would not effect this problem. But at least your ready for winter. When you say the "dashboard lights", do you you mean the Speedometor, the tachometor, ALL of the system warning lights such as low oil, ABS brakes, check engine, and so forth. Or is it just certain lights that are blinking. This would be helpful. Also, your ES330 has a computer that collects information on most of the cars symptoms. You can go to a Lexus dealer or somewhere such as Advanced Auto and they will download the stored codes. Hopefully this will give your dealer or mechanic a good Idea of where to look. Just FYI . When you first start start a Lexus auto. It goes through a "self diagnostic" checking the status of all major systems. this takes only a few seconds. You'll notice that when your ES330 was working correctly, upon turning the key in the ignition all of the lights around the speedometer and tachomer come on for a few seconds. Apparently your system is obviously working overtime. Let us know how things turn out. Paul
  20. It's a well put together "this product makes my life fulfilled and secure" style of ad. Just what the market sector Honda appeals to. I imagine this is an early part of a series, and they will get more direct and ask the customer to take an "action" step such as an incentive for going to showroom.
  21. Hi LuIS, This is way above my pay grade so I can't be much help. However my concerns would be the same as you. A way to override the engine lockout when the securiity field is breached may not be possible even though you may try to bypass the key-start system. However, I don't know just how sophisticated the security system is compared to the later model cars. As an example, the "remote start" feature my dealer installed works well. But it is very sensitive since it has to be wired into the security program. From the house I will start the car and let it cool down or warm up. When I get in the car, if I touch the brake pedal the engine dies. If I touch the shift lever, the engine dies. same thing if I touch the start/stop button. The only way you can keep the engine runing and put the car in action is to push the start/stop button twice and have the Lexus fob with you. Paul
  22. Good day. You can change your user name your self by going to your member profile and changing the name on the form. There really isn't such a thing as a formal "canceling Membership" since you don't have to do or pay anything to use the site and all you need to do to quit is simply not use the site any more. We don't track members or follow if they post or not, this is strictly an all volunter group. Hope you'll change your mind. Paul
  23. I'd say you've got bigger problems than your fuel pump.......where did all that oil go? Is it leaking out of the engine somewhere, or are you just not putting any in as the miles go by.
