  1. Hey Bob, Not sure about model year, but during the 90's the stereo amplifier was mounted in the trunk. Paul
  2. Welcome to the Lexus Owners Club and thank you for posting some new, up to date ML information. The ML system is an awesome product, but it has for sometime been a pain with frequent amplifiers failure. Paul
  3. Lexus first hinted that a new 2015 RX would be uncovered at the Detroit Auto Show. Now, their doing a "two step" and hinting that it may wait it's debut later the Spring. When you consider that the RX was last renewed in 2009, and even given that the RX is still Lexus no.1 seller, it would appear that Lexus may not feel the need to hurry this up. For those of us who are RX owners, I guess a few months one way or another won't be a big deal since we already have the best cross-over made. 4. Things like this always make me chuckle. Before the introduction of the 2013 ES's, that model had always had chrome door handles and chrome door trim.. When the new 2013 came out, the door handles were painted the same color of the body. At that time many owners were upset about the change and thought it looked cheap. I thought either one of the two styles could look great. Others thought the new trim was cool. My guess is that the feelings about the new trim on the GS will evolve in the same way. As for me, I really don't like the wheels. Yep, I'm old and uncool, but when I think Lexus I think of luxury. The black spoke wheels make the car look like a 70's Camaro. The only thing it's missing is the racing strip running along the hood. That being said, I do like the looks of the new GS and I think it will sell like crazy. Paul
  5. Has anyone ever had any luck finding parts such as these on e-bay or a salvage yard? I ask because when we're talking about cars such as these, we're working on models that are 25 years old. Is there a point in the future where we may run out of parts sources? Paul
  6. Hi Chris and welcome. Yes, Lexus can be a mess when it comes to changing audio components. Finding the right harness is almost always a pain in the butt. My best suggestion is to go to the top of the page and do a search of our data base for this problem. I know for sure there are several conversation about the reconfiguration. Paul
  7. Hi Nardos and welcome to the Club. I've never heard of this problem before, so I'm not sure I can help you much. It sounds like the head-unit and or amp may have tripped a maximum output limiter. This could act like a safety net in that by limiting the loudness of the head-unit it protects your components from "frying". No blown speakers. However, I'm perplexed about your unit's working up until the volume hits 30, then drops out from then on. This is the point where you take your ES to your dealer and let them fix it under warranty. Generally speaking, most dealers will just remove the problem components and put a new head unit or amp in or whatever the case calls for. After you've talked with your dealer, come back and let us know what you found out. Paul
  8. Those who feel that when it comes to sport cars, you must speak German. "Road & Track begs to differ. Those folks might want to hurry up and learn English. LOL 467 hp,!!!!! The RCF is a "Go for Launch"! http://www.roadandtrack.com/new-cars/first-drives/a24665/2015-lexus-rc-f-stampede-first-drive/ Paul
  9. Great answer Les. I can only imagine Xialoin how frustrated you are. There is no good reason why a car in the caliber of Lexus should have such a dumb mistake like this. I also would make sure ANY work on this problem be done by the dealer. You want to keep a record of all the activity involved in resolving a warranty issue. Lexus, over the last two to three years has used one of the "softest" paints in the high-end auto market. Even detailers will complain about how difficult it is to polish/buff a Lexus car without leaving buffer swirls. For additional help in working with your dealer, go to "Lexus.Com". Choose contact us or customer help, and start a file regarding the status of the problem, and request they contact the dealer and report back to you. Paul
  10. I just want to add a Thank You to Becki for her tremendous help day after day trying to neuter this snake charmer. Also, thanks to David for his stepping in to help. David has been a great Moderator for several years. Unfortunately his business is growing so fast that it's become more difficult to be on the site as much as he'd like. (frankly, I hope David keeps working so hard. We need his tax contribution for my Social Security.) As you find more spam please let me or a Moderator as soon as possible. Thanks everyone, Paul
  11. I'm anxious to see what the reaction is from the Lexus customers.
  12. The Detroit Auto Show will be the launch pad for the all new 2016 GS F! Over 450 hp, and a way cool interior. Click on the link for the Press Release and Official photos. Also, post what your thoughts are about this "will this ever come out feeling. Paul http://lexusenthusiast.com/2015/01/06/lexus-gs-f-revealed-first-photos-information/
  13. I can never take any pics of my two beauties because it seems to be almost impossible to find the film cassette for my Kodak Instamatic, Then, I can't find the flash cubes that fit on top of the camera. Anybody have a Polaroid?
  14. Hi Nathan. It sounds like your going to have to try a different avenue to track down your problem. At this point, having tried unsuccessfully to have your mechanics locate the problem with no success, I strongly suggest going to your Lexus dealer. They should be able to find away to read your codes. You can pay for a diagnostic session and find out the problem. The dealer will explain what the problem is and what it will take to fix it. At that time you can pay for the diagnostic session then go to your other mechanic for a consult and a second bid for the necessary repairs. Don't get discouraged. Make a plan and follow it. Paul
  15. Just a note. My wife had a 2007 Volvo S80 a few years ago. It came with Continental, low profile tires with a 60 month tread warranty. By 23,000 miles the tread wear was half gone. I called Continental regarding the 60 month wear guaranty and they replied that the wear warranty only covers road hazards. Two months latter, I took it in for service and the technician came out and asked if I knew there was a bulge on the left front tire where the belts had separated. There was a bulge in the side wall the size of a grapefruit. At this point I had had enough. I had them take off all the other Continental's and replace them with Michlen's We traded the car last year with no more tire problems. Paul
  16. Ha Ha!! LOL My postulate is that the more expensive your car is, the more likely it will become a a punching bag for all drivers that have those idiot chrome women on their mud flaps.
  17. Hi guys, Stephen I'm as particular as you when it comes to road noise. I choose Lexus cars for that smooth and quiet ride Lexus has always been known for. I have been running on Michelen Primacy's for several years. My current 2013 ES350 came with Bridgestone tires. I had the dealer swap them for Michlen Primacy's. This particular Michlen tire has been popular for the ES product for several years. That being said, I have no idea how they would perform on a GS. Paul
  18. Hi Nathan and welcome to the Lexus Owners Club. At first blush your problem seems to be a real head scratchier. When you say the repair shop can't read your diagnostic codes, I'm assuming your not talking about Lexus dealer. If this is the case, you can try anAuto zone store where they are usually very helpful. However, to get the best results from downloading your codes, I would suggest trying you dealer for diagnostics, then check around town for prices. I'm not an expert, however some things to check out might be the catalytic convertors. If they went through 2 1/2 feet of water it might be possible that they tool in copious amounts of junk. When a CC goes bad it can create a blockage that builds up exhaust pressure back to the manifolds. The car can come to a dead stop until fixed or, after driving just a short distance the car may just die. Unfortunately, anything that was exposed to that much water could be a problem. Paul
  19. Hi Sam and welcome to the Club. I've never owned an IS350 so I can't speak to this with authority. You are right that the front deck speaker is for the navigation voice and to some extent a center channel for music/voice. All three of my ES350 have had the sub under the rear deck or what Lexus calls a package shelf. My 2013 Rx350 has the sub in the right side of the cargo bay. In my opinion, you will never get the low bass response you want without installing a separate amplifier and small sub in the trunk. The amp for the sub allows you to set the output and range of response while giving you excellent sound. I don't know how much room there is in your trunk, but given the small cabin volume I would think you could get good results from an 8" sub. Find a good, reputable car sound shop and get a quote from them. I don't think your dealer would be interested in modifying your system. Come back and let us know how things are going. Paul
  20. Hi Joe and welcome to the LOC. Some of the members have found good deals on wheels from e-bay. But like Stephan said , buying your tires locally so you can get up close and personal with the product is always the best way to evaluate the quality of the product. More and more, in a move to stay competitive, several dealers, including mine, will price match your tire when shown a written quote from another tire retailer. I have done this two times and felt I got a much better deal, and Lexus technicians to recommend what make, size and wheel well clearance stats would be best. Just an aside; Some folks believe that Lexus dealers are consistently higher than almost any other source. As for me, I have never experienced that type of attitude. However, I am not a candidate for DIY so I check around for the best price knowing I'm going to pay premium for labor. Let us know how things go, Paul
  21. You won the gasoline lottery! The highest octane we have here is 91. What is your local price for plain regular?
  22. Thanks VBdenny for the heads up. Were taking care of it now. Steve in the UK continues to find ways that will block this guy. But, after he's banned one time he just comes back joining under a different user name. Paul
