  1. Very true. You are not biased. My old service advisor, who was an advisor for our Lexus dealership here, for at least like 15 years, moved to Infiniti. Reason was because the owner of Fresno Lex, sold Fresno Lex and kept his Infiniti dealer. Anyways, so I meet him one day (after picking up my car from Fresno Lex, and both dealers are just right next to each other, about rubbing-shoulders distance) and I asked him what his input is on both. He says, Definitely Lexus has that refinement, quality, and luxury that Infiniti nor the Bmws or Benz have. BUT the only thing that the Lexus line-up is missing, is the power and sport performance. If you want Sporty handling and power (and design too), Lexus isn't for you. But if you want refinement, luxury and quality, Lexus is the best candidate. Then there's another service advisor I know, that moved to BMW. He says BMW is nice and "quality" but nothing will ever compare to Lexus. But this guy's probably into sporty cars so he wasn't really into Lexus. So all car companies have their own characteristics.
  2. A Camry Hybrid wouldn't be too far of a reach considering we've had a Prius rental before. ;) We just requested [whatever class they call a Prius], and that's what they gave us. Well I guess it was just a tactic Hertz uses to lure you into renting from them. Sorry to say, but I don't remember what magazine it was that the LS460L lost! It lost to the BMW 750LI, S550, Jaguar (dont remember which one, not familiar with Jag line-up), and forgot the 5th one, maybe an Infiniti. Out of the 5 they tested, LS460L came in 5th place! I think the S550 or the 750Li came first. I was totally disappointed when i read that. :(
  3. It depends on how tall the curb was, and how fast she drove. First thing, see if the alignment is still straight. When there are no cars on the road, try driving (at a moderate speed) and let go of the steering wheel. See if it will veer to any side. If it quickly swerves into one side, right or left, definitely alignment. There could possibly be some Rim damage, but then you'd have to remove the tire from the rim(s) to check.
  4. Personally, I like the muscle car themselves, and how powerful they are. Too bad they don't make those and can't have those powerful engines unless you buy a Porsche or Ferrari, but those sometimes don't even compare. ;) And those heavy duty metal bumpers. :)
  5. When you meant standard equipment, the really really basic? No difference in 03 or 04 if you're talking about the most basic GX. Now Bluetooth became available, I believe is 04 if you get a GX w/NAV. Gas mileage depends on how well taken cared of the vehicle you are looking to purchase. If well kept and hasnt been abused, it should get you around sticker (around 13-15 in city, 18-20 in highway) IF you don't push on the gas a lot when accelerating. I'm not sure about the rims, someone else has more knowledge on that than me. <_< If you have any more questions, feel free to ask them. And BTW, Welcome to the club! P.S. on your attached photo of a GX, is that a White one(Blizzard Pearl), or a creamy white one (Sand Dollar Pearl)? It's kinda hard to tell the difference sometimes in the photos. :D
  6. Hello and Welcome. No problem with the English, everyone makes mistakes with their English here anyways. lol :D But Im positively sure you can convert from miles to km and from F to C. For your second inquiry, Im not familiar with that. There should be PLENTY of European maps that can be loaded onto the NAV. Is there a local Lexus dealer in your area? If there is, inquire with them about purchasing the DVD with the maps to load onto the system. ;) If you have any more questions, feel free to post them here!
  7. It depends. I'm not sure, but is the RDX made in Japan or USA? That will definitely spell the difference. Plus I don't think it's worth getting an RDX. Personally, I'd buy an EX-L w/Nav & DVD CRV over an RDX unless for some odd reason, an RDX (equipped as the CRV i mentioned above) is the same price, or cheaper than a CRV with those options, then Yes I'll go for the RDX. Plus, correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't is true that Honda holds it's value well, but Acura doesn't? But for Toyota and Lexus, they both hold their values pretty good? ;)
  8. It's ok. We all make mistakes when reading things. But consider this, is there anything wrong, if I were to pick him up from Fresno, and I rented a car? lol :) But i just got a call from him that they didnt even have camrys but he didnt even tell me what car he got. :( Not to be off-topic, but is it possible to "delete a virus" from a cellphone, or PDA? I think my dad received some unwanted virus via bluetooth w/o him knowing when he was in the Philippines and I think it's !Removed! up his Treo. I remember turning the bluetooth off for him before he left but maybe for some weird or accidental reason he must have turned it on not knowing it. And I also need a new phone because my headpiece on the phone is broken, so do i hear a new Treo 680, possibly two of them?!?!?!? lol :P
  9. Read my statement again and tell me why. I'll give you a hint, I live in Fresno. Well that would be interesting. He might be driving in "electric" mode the whole time, because it would be his first time driving a hybrid by himself. At least he could return the car w/o filling the tank. lol. I remember when we bought our RX300 back in 2000, we drove all the way from LA to Fresno (got the car in Tustin) and he drove the whole way with the power mode on! What a way to really "break-in for better fuel efficiency" on it's first 300-400 miles. lol. He didn't know where the switch was for the "PWR" mode, when it was just right next to the gear shifter! Idk, it says it on the reservation Camry-GREEN, but i doubt it. They probably have Ford Five Hundreds waiting for him. <_< He's dreaming it will be a hybrid camry, but we'll see. :D
  10. It's a great car. I'm thinking that I might have a shot at driving the Camry tomorrow, because my dad is arriving from the Philippines tonite at San Francisco Int'l Airport, and I think he's getting a Camry from Hertz, possibly hybrid too (because it says "Toyota Camry- GREEN" on the rental reservation) so I'll let you guys know how it feels and drives! :D
  11. Nicely done. That's what i experienced last weekend, thanksgiving weekend after working my !Removed! off a grand total of 8-9 hours detailing all 3 cars (spread out within 3 days). I know how it feels to have that new detail feel.... Btw, clean engine bays are hard to see around here. Since my area is filled with open land, and lots of construction of new complexes and whatever, it's really hard, even when you're avoiding them, to keep the engine bay clean.
  12. Congrats and Welcome to LOC!
  13. Yes it's totally illegal in California, but it depends on what part of California. Here in Fresno (central valley) I'd say there are about 80% of cars W/O front plates. Even old cars that used to have front plates, take them off. Front tint is also illegal, but cops here don't mind. Seems like the Fresno cops are easing up if your only violation is the plates and/or front tint..... But if caught for speeding, you'll be needing a loan officer to pay off that big fine (exaggerated, but i presume it must be a lot). Plus if u have front tint, add that to the loan. lol. ;)
  14. It won't be long before used cars have them too. You think govt will install them on used cars too? Doubt that, they never made it mandatory for all old cars to have seatbelts if they have one w/o them. ;) No, but cars that already have black boxes are and will be on the used car market. :D :D Ah that's true. What I meant was that would you never buy another car, new or used, unless it was built in 04 or older. :P
  15. Yes unfortunately(but i only have 2wd so it doesnt concern me). They're even worse. At least we are entertained at Lexus for the clunk, guys at the 4Runner forum, none of them are even close to getting the new shaft, and control arm, and whatever else is needed. All they get is greasing. They have already printed my service write-up many times, and the dealers will not accept them, nor even read them. So it's better to be waiting for something, rather to be not waiting for it , or to be waiting for nothing, know what I'm sayin? ;) It's like waiting for your car, your excited to get it, especially if it just came out. I had that same waiting process, and it seemed like eternity to get a GX but it only took a month before i got one.
  16. I have reason to believe, maybe they're installed in the 05s and newer or 06 and newer. I checked my GX manual, and it's an 03 and there's barely any warnings in the front pages. My scanned 4runner manual, the warning or data recorder info was printed within the first few pages.
  17. Maybe reading your owner's manual will help. My dad read the owner's manual on the 4R, and that's how we found out about it also. Here it is, the "event data recorder" info on the right side of my scanned page (sorry for a bad photocopy, my manual couldn't fit correctly on my scanner) It won't be long before used cars have them too. You think govt will install them on used cars too? Doubt that, they never made it mandatory for all old cars to have seatbelts if they have one w/o them. ;)
  18. Well we can't complain about it, unless we pledge to never buy a new car again. ;) Now that isn't possible, now is it? :)
  19. My 4Runner has it. Seems ridiculous, but I don't mind. It gives the truth, like in airplanes when they crash, nobody really knows what happened unless there is someone, or SOMETHING that will record exactly what happened at the last moments before the accident.
  20. i've asked my friend who's parents have an 03 ML55 AMG, and a 06 E350, and he says, they absolutely have NO problems. Doubt that, cuz i remember my friend once in awhile tells me that his dad takes his ML into the shop, because of some things breaking, mostly electrical.
  21. Well they know what the hot sellers are here in America, (Lexus Toyota, MB, BMW, etc.) so of course they'd mix all these "ingredients" and create the Redflag automobile company. I could only imagine the price tag on that one.... :D
  22. Ajbolit got it. You can not do anything with the RSES or RSAS w/o the remote. Sucks. Once my remote's battery was dead, and I couldn't use the remote in the back and couldnt get anything out of the rear audio. <_<
  23. amf, add me to that waiting list too..... This is like very similar to an LS430! Look at it in a quick glance, you'd swear you just saw an LS430. lol.
  24. Ok guys. I will post this here as i told other 4Runner owners these directions. If you follow EXACTLY as I explain, you guys will definitely get it. I had guys in the other forum say they couldn't program it, until I explained and then they thanked me a lot for helping them... Step 2 is for those who have the rolling code technology. Not sure if you have rolling code? If you can open your handheld garage door openner remote, and see like 10-12 different tabs that you can adjust, it's not a rolling code. Now if you can't open your garage door openner remote, other than to change the battery, you have a rolling code openner. I think what people are missing when programming their homelink is pushing the button 3 times on those rolling code openners, which most of us now have.
