  1. Congrats on your new SC! You do indeed have the Gen 2/3 Nav system and upgrading it is as easy as it sounds. The good news is that you retain the ability to bypass your nav lockout when you are driving no matter which data version you use! I would pick up the Gen 2/3 data version 8.1 disc and update it. You can get it someplace like Sewell Lexus or one of the other discount dealers onling. Here is the info on how to replace the disc: nav_install.pdf I will add the link on how to bypass your lockout as soon as I find it...EDIT: please look up to post #2 above. It has the info on how to override the nav system to allow you to enter addresses while moving. Good Luck!
  2. Check out this calculator...it'll help you see if it is a significant difference
  3. No problem JD7. You will be able to get back to your override. That said, here is what you will need to do: The 8.1 loading.kwi is locking you out of the override sequence. The way to reset the system is to remove power to the NAV unit. In my RX400h, the fuse to pull is labeled RADIO1 under the hood. Since you have a different model, you can either look for one of the radio/nav fuses, or remove the power from the battery under the hood. At any rate, you will need to leave power off for about 2 minutes. When you power back up, you will see the loading screen as the 5.1 file loads. Let us know how it works out for you.
  4. It may be different down here in the States...
  5. dood! Bring me a Harrier grill for my RX400h! :D Welcome to the LOC!
  6. Everyone seems to love Carson for pricing and speed of turnaround...may want to check with them now that you have mas info to batter them with :) Try calling them! May even want to try some of the used sites like Billy's Lexus parts (no relation :) ).
  7. What we have here is failure to communicate! Check this drawing part number 11259-20060 Hope that helps!
  8. The Nav DVD player will not play DVD video. In fact, some people have had issues with their nav after trying it. I would not recommend messing with the Nav player. Newer models are designed to run DVD format discs and their use is specified in their owners manuals. I suspect your LS is too early to utilize DVD playback. Lexus is always a bit behind in the techy side of things. :(
  9. Welcome to the LOC! Click the link in my sig and it will show you how you can get a replacement manual for free and view it on line until you get it!
  10. I understand they will send you one new manual about every 6 months...some kind soul should be able to order you one.
  11. I think someone just had an issue with corrosion on the main ground connection to the firewall? Left his ride much like yours...deceased. Good luck on that search when you have some light. :)
  12. Very cool, I think you will be able to locate ye olde 5.1 LOADING.KWI file pretty quickly if you google it. The generation is key to getting the right flavor. Good Luck!
  13. To be clear, I am usually talking about 5.1/6.1 hybrid discs because that is as good as Gen 4 people like me can get. CS, you have a Gen 5 system, so the rules are different for you. With a Gen 5, you can even use the latest 8.1 data disc, and use the 5.1 LOADING.KWI from a Gen 5 5.1 disc. Here is the downside to this: Gen 5 8.1 eliminated the "I agree" screen. If you make a hybrid with a 5.1 loading file, you will regain the override, but you will have to go back to pushing the I agree button on start up. None of the icons or themes will change, so you can rest easy on that. Hope that helps.
  14. Not me... I would've said "OK I'll be right over"... and gone in the house and come out with my spiked necklace on, black leather pants, no shirt showing off my tatoo on my hairy chest that reads "Meat Eater", carrying my handcuffs, whip, chains, and cowboy boots with spurs, a big jar of vaseline petroleum jelly!!!!! .... and a big $hit-eat'n grin on my face!!!! dude...I need to remove that image from my head!
  15. Hey RXinNC, I am not sure about the RX400h shift quality issues you are talking about since it uses a CVT and doesnt actually shift or have "gears" as such. AFAIK, the CVT tranny doesn't even have a reverse gear, reverse is handled by the electric motors. I get that your experience with the RX trannies has not been great and I respect that, but isn't adding the RX400h to the issue piling-on a bit?
  16. Man, I LOVE the June Lake loop! I grew up going there with my family and we had friends with a cabin up above Silver lake. You will love it! Our RX400h AWD has stock all season tires on it, and it serves us well in the heavy snows we get here in Utah. I would recommend that when you get into some good snow, take the opportunity to find an open parking lot and drive around in it a bit. Try out the brakes, turns and gas and see how it responds so you know what to expect. Just be careful. That you are here asking the questions in advance tells me that you will do just fine. You obviously realize that things will not be the same as dry pavement driving. Enjoy the trip, your RX will treat you well. No worries.
  17. You can do the Nav dvd yourself! :) Check out this PDF on how to access the Nav dvd. Very easy process and takes about 10 minutes to do if you have never done it before. RXNavi_1_.pdf The biggest concerns I have seen from people updating their nav are: 1. Does it have the data I am looking for? People dont want to spend good money on something and hope it has their street/subdivision or whatever. 2. Will I still be able to override the lockout when we are moving? To see if the data is included in the latest software, click the link in my sig and it will show you how you can determine if the update is worth it or not. If you like what you see in the 8.1 update, there are several of the online sellers who have the discs at a discount. Sewell Lexus is one of them as an example. Your 2005 RX330 is a Generation 4 Nav system, same as mine. If you update your data to anything newer than 5.1, you will lose the ability to override your system. Some of us Gen 4 guys have used what is called a hybrid disc to allow us to use 6.1 data with a 5.1 loading file. This is a little more updated and still allows the bypass. A quick search on Hybrid NAV disc will get you more information if this is a solution you want to pursue. Hope that helps with this section of your question.
  18. Nah... it wasn't that funny.... The granny !Removed! was funnier!! Billy... I'll bet YOU have a real life story that is WAY better than that one!! :D Ok, true story: Well, when we first moved out here to the wilds of Utah, I was out doing some maintenance around the house and out of nowhere this big scruffy guy is standing there watching me. He startled me and I bleet out a "hey, howzitgoin?" The guy says he is my neighbor and he noticed I had just moved in. He asked me if I would like to come over to his place later for a party; that there would be plenty of booze, drugs and s*x. I tell the neighbor, "hey, that sounds pretty good, should I bring anything?" The guy tells me, "naw, I gots it covered, it'll just be you and me." :cries: Was he serious or just messin with you, cause if so I'd more right away hahah Naw man! Old joke resurrected for the occasion. :D
  19. Sorry Dinh, I am not sure I understand what you are talking about. The 07-09 ES350 is a Gen 5 system and as far as I know, they use NAV DVDs.
  20. Saw this posted somewhere...this is the awesome.
  21. Congrats! That is good info for the next guy with that issue!
