  1. woohoo! GURU! hahaha not quite... 1001 Oh no...I disagree, sir!
  2. I don't understand what you guys are talking about. I once had a $30,000 a year job and $50,000 in debt. I guess that I could have cut my spending to the bone and got a second job to make more money, but that just seemed silly. So the way that I worked my way out of this problem was to increase my spending by 120% and quit my original job. Doing much better now...somehow... :snoooorrrtttt:
  3. Hey TJM, Honestly, I get the annoyance part. I haven't checked our RX400h because I don't make a habit of carrying one of the hand-held GPSs in my car with NAV. Of course now I am curious how far out we are. ;) I generally drive to road conditions and traffic so I rarely peek at MPH unless I am in a school zone or other special speed zone; speed is largely irrelevant to me. Obviously it has much more meaning for you. Shoot, my BMW being off by 4 MPH at 60 really didnt bother me, but the lack of reasonable cup holders did! :)
  4. The one for your wheel locks should be a little white McGard card with a 5 digit number
  5. No worries...check out this motherlode of accessories!
  6. Heh, I remember my first trip to London...I asked a cop there where I could find a drug store to get some aspirin. I swear I could not understand his thick cockney accent. After asking him to repeat himself twice, a passerby translated for me. :( English Language = 1 : Billyshaft = 0
  7. Billyshaft Translator Service to the rescue: Greetings to everyone here on the Lexus Owners Club forum! I am new here and looking for some information. I am from Singapore and over the last couple of months or so, I purchased a beautiful IS250. I have been considering updating my new ride with some IS-F upgrades or accessories, but there aren't any IS-F vehicles on the road here in Singapore yet. Does anyone have any idea where I can obtain some awesome IS-F accessories at a reasonable price? Thanks in advance!
  8. Good Lord. That sounds like something that would happen at my Jeep dealer, not Lexus :(
  9. Some of the most entertaining stories are from people who sell/sold cars. Got to get you to relate some of the better ones someday, Ray
  10. Truth. These guys are the worst part of any dealership. They live on "got to act now" expensive emotional purchases. Fact is, you can get an EW on your Lex from any Lex/Toyota dealer at almost anytime. Biju, Do a search on Extended Warranty on the boards here, there are at least 3 huge informative threads on this subject that have happened since New Year.
  11. Carry a hand held GPS with you and compare the two. Hey TJM, we see a lot of annoyed angry people who find out something about their car they don't like and then come here and vent about what a POS lexus is and how they will never buy another one. With that in mind, some people are of the opinion that many of these statements are emotionally based and find it unreasonable to purchase a car based on speedo calibration alone. Additionally, please excuse my uninformed-idiot post above. Apparently the ODO which determines your warranty coverage is fed from a different more accurate source. My Jeep is old-school, and the tranny output feeds both the speedo and ODO. The Lexus is not like that. I mistakingly tried to equate the two. I did some more research because I seemed to remember that my M3 always indicated a bit high on the speedo. More info from the BMW people I used to run with: With this in mind, you may not want to buy the German competition for your next car either. Maybe a nice Tahoe or Jeep Grand Cherokee?
  12. Here is basically what should have come with your car...
  13. It does bring the suck. After the 2 RX300s with their sorry turn radius, the RX400h is a dream and I can actually U-turn in an intersection. On paper it may not seem like much, but the difference is remarkable.
  14. Nah... it wasn't that funny.... The granny !Removed! was funnier!! Billy... I'll bet YOU have a real life story that is WAY better than that one!! :D Ok, true story: Well, when we first moved out here to the wilds of Utah, I was out doing some maintenance around the house and out of nowhere this big scruffy guy is standing there watching me. He startled me and I bleet out a "hey, howzitgoin?" The guy says he is my neighbor and he noticed I had just moved in. He asked me if I would like to come over to his place later for a party; that there would be plenty of booze, drugs and s*x. I tell the neighbor, "hey, that sounds pretty good, should I bring anything?" The guy tells me, "naw, I gots it covered, it'll just be you and me." :cries:
  15. Awww, see? Your Lex loves you! :D Yes, it is in the Calendar. Someone was probably playing around in your menus and left you a birthday wish!
  16. Speedo sensors at wheels? Sounds overly complex. Every application I have ever seen is either a gear driven off the output shaft of the trans in older applications, or an electronic signal off the trans output that is computed in the ECU to give a speed signal to the dash. I called our Dealer here to schedule my service campaign and asked him about it while I had him on the phone. He went and checked with some guys in service who have upsized tires and wheels and he said essentially the same thing, that the speed sensors in the wheels feed the speedo data. Sucks. :(
  17. Welcome to the LOC MadTyte! Dude! Which color combination makes me appear young, rugged and powerful with an endless bank account? :D
  18. Could this be a symptom of the dealer disconnecting the battery for the service? If the ECU reset to factory defaults it will take some time to reestablish your driving habits. Just thinking out loud here...
  19. Man I tell ya...I have heard about satellite radio shutting down in the next year, and some other input about the signal quality being kind of low. I am not sure if this is something I would want to do. But I also dragged my feet on tivo too, and now I can't live without it. I could be wrong about satellite radio!
  20. Hey Brett, Information is a good thing. I assumed from your original post that you had a sneaking suspicion that copying software might be a "bad thing"... It is entirely possible I was a little sensitive about the subject since I was recently accused of being "a monster" for suggesting that the owners of $50,000 vehicles could likely afford to buy updates verses stealing them. I can further understand the LOC being sensitive about people using their forum for anything not above-board. If I came across harsh, I apologize. My intent was to point out the posted rules so that mistakes would not be made. Software licensing is such a nightmare to navigate and the use of it really depends on the company and their official stance and on what type of use license you bought. I will say this much, if I had two vehicles with Gen 4 Nav systems, I am not sure that I would personally buy two copies. I could potentially be held liable for something like that, but under what circumstances? It really depends on their licensing: if it is a site license, then you are allowed to use it within a defined scope to your heart's content. Microsoft often sells software this way to businesses. They do however get angry when those site keys make their way onto the internet. :) It sounds like the people you talked to implied that owning a disc entitles you to use it in as many vehicles as you own. I did some light research on this subject yesterday and could not find an "official" answer other than standard "all rights reserved" language. On Navteq site in the developer section, they did state that using samples of their software and data for product development is authorized, but they clearly drew the line on developing and then selling without them getting their piece of the action. I think we do agree that buying the latest NAV software and then making copies and selling them on craigslist and ebay is pretty black and white on the "wrong" side of the issue. My own ethical question related to this regards older versions of the map data. If a company no longer sells a product and in fact will not accept payment for the software (like versions 7.1, 6.1, 5.1, etc) could this software be considered abandoned? Is it reasonable to expect me to pay good money on ebay for discontinued OEM discs when Lexus won't accept payment or receive a dime for the disc? Dunno. :P
  21. It is not only annoying, but your warranty expires faster as well. EDIT: This is not true for Lexus. My Jeep has this issue, but not the Lexus. Ask them to fix it for a zero reading or extend your warranty for 6.5%, their choice. Jeep Wranglers are notorious for this. 10% variations are common. At least the new ones can be changed via handheld programmer to accomodate changes in tire sizes. I am assuming that Lexus can change the speedo via programmer as well. EDIT: I asked this specifically of my service writer and he said it wasn't done that way with Lexus, but he was aware that some manufacturers have that ability.
  22. Both of my RX300 AWDs had the towing prep by default. I think that the dealer told me that they automatically configure the AWD with towing prep from Japan. Checking where lenore is saying is certainly the most conclusive way to see.
