  1. IDK what to tell you. It's three nuts & they pull off. :( (Plugs 2-4-6)
  2. The starter cranks the engine. The alternator powers the car. Replace, or add a wire to the battery -> chassie, alternator -> battery, and engine to chassie. It helps, but doesn't make muhc of a dent if you've got some good audio. Nothing can replace having a larger alt.
  3. I've got the mad hook-up from a buddy that deals with building performance transmissions, yo. This will be the single larger price/performance mod anyone has, or will ever have a deal on for our v6's. I aint promising numbers, but any moron using google can pretty well see what most cars pick-up with a good aftermarket torque converter. At least a half second in the 1/4 mile (more for modified engines) & expect the ability to actually do a burnout without cheating. Which 1mz's can't do period, and 3vz's can do with great difficulty by cheating. (And will be an especially big upgrade for any 1mz-fe owner that has ever looked at a dyno & noticed, "Hey... I don't have crap for torque until 3500rpm.") Custom torque converters for the a540h->a541e. Built to our specification (i.e. mine & his), or yours. RETAINS lock-up with an upgraded clutch pack. (So your mileage won't be tanking cruising around.) Lifetime warrantee, no questions asked. You break it, you get a new one. <period> These are not cheap !Removed! loosened torque converters from your local shop. Where all some jackass at the local transmission shop does is pull the turbine & sators out & bend them. These are 100% custom & weigh a ton. This is the first one. I've had it awhile, but I'm getting ready 2 put it in after some much needed cam swapping & valve adjustments. (Not to mention I have to clear out a ton of space in the basement just to get the car under the electric hoist!?) We'll be testing several stall / flash speed combo's I wanna do, along with afew different torque multiplication ratios. Final price is being decided on based on how many people are actually interested, and actually are good for money... It's looking like $200usd + $40usd shipping. $175usd core fee (return your used & get your money back). The $200 could drop, but who knows yet. Compare that to $489.00+core+shipping for an IPT rebuilt converter, and $589.00+core+shipping for Level10 (BLAH IPT>lvl10/PTS). Before you ask about torque converters; please have a basic understanding of what they do & the basic terms of stall speed, flash speed, and torque multiplication. Feel free to google about torque converters & performance torque converters. Howstuffworks is always good. The TCI has a nice explanation. Wordy, but aight.
  4. Im so happy for you! I know this is going to shock you... The average married, first time how buyer stays in the house for less than 7 years. Dont get too attached & dont get into any major construction home improvements. If you're gunna let her decorate. Limit her to earthy 3 tones, and realize that the only two rooms in a house you can expect to simply break even renovating are the kitchen & bathrooms. Knowing that (if you dont already) I just got u set for life. :)
  5. I posted it 2 weeks ago ;) Gotta luv it. :) http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/index...showtopic=31439 Keep camin with the wifey dont bother with us lol!
  6. I don't think any of them are strong enough regardless of construction. If it's not welded, it's not strong enough LoL!
  7. I buy denso filters by the case full & if I'm flushing, I use whatever the cheapest filter is from the nearest/most convinant place to get one from.
  8. Yup. I don't know why replacing the master cyl, or brake booster would cause the ABS to stop working, but I don't play with windstars. ;)
  9. Download the stickied 93 FSM. 11 - Open or short in room temperature sensor circuit. 12 - Open or short in ambient temperature sensor circuit. 13 - Open or short in evaporator temperature sensor circuit. 14 - Open or short in engine coolant temperature sensor circuit. 21 - Open in solar sensor circuit. / Short in solar sensor circuit. 22 - All conditions below are detected for 3 secs. or more: A} Engine rpm: 450 rpm or more. B} Ratio between engine and compressor rpm diviates 20% or more in comparison 41 - Air mix damper position sensor value does not change even if ECU operates air mix servomotor. 42 - Air inlet damper position sensor value does not change even if ECU operates air inlet servomotor. HINT: *1 If the room temp. is approx. –20°C (–4°F) or lower code 11 may be output even though the system is normal. *2 If the ambient temperature is approx. –50°C (–58°F) or lower, a malfunction code may be output even though the system is normal *3 If the check is being performed in a dark place, diagnostic trouble code 21 (solar sensor circuit abnormal) could be displayed. In this case, perform diagnostic trouble code check again while shining a light, such as an inspection light, on the solar sensor. If code 21 is still displayed, there could be trouble in the solar sensor circuit.
  10. The way every ABS works that I know of. It's just a large brake fluid pump, and a set of solenoids that close off pressure to the brake lines (On older systems it may just be front axle/rear axle, or front specific wheels VS rear axle). If the ABS system fails, you're left with virtually a normal brake setup. If they say the master cylinder is leaking, it needs replacing & go from there.
  11. Not that I know (Power loss). Check the fuel pressure LoL! Does the torque convertor lock-up? We've talked so many times, and I always forget. How are the o2 sensors & fuel injectors. $3 a gallon, sheesh. Gas is down under 2.30 here. (And yet another, "hey here's what our gas prices are" thread has been started lol!)
  12. LoL! If you're in good condition & not a big guy. 0-60 in 8.5s 1/4m in 16.4s 60' in 2.5s Top speed is electronically limited to 137mph. The curb weight you can look up youself.
  13. You problem will be a dead o2 sensor. Figure out which one it is & replace it.
  14. Without being able to create a mold, and vacuum form parts. Forget it. LoL!
  15. IDK anyone that's done it. http://www.popularmechanics.com/automotive...?page=2&c=y

  17. They're small peizo microphones that the ECU uses to determine when the onset of detonation/pre-ignition in the engine is. If it's detected, the ECU retards the ignition timing until it goes away, then adances it back. Are they important to the mechanical operation? No Are they important? Yes. With a knock sensor code, the engine goes into limp mode. Ignition timing is set to base timing (5-10*btdc depening on the code), will not advance (Horrible for power output/economy), and the ECU will dump lots of fuel into the engine. Depending on what else is going on, the ECU can lock-out the overdrive in the transmission. Basically... The engine output sucks hind tit, along with it's economy. They're about $20-50 used, $75-150 new & located under the lower intake manifold on the engine block (In the V). You can see them in this picture.
  18. http://www.phonescoop.com/ + forum http://reviews.cnet.com/Cell_phones/2001-3....html?tag=glnav I love my new LG8300. You can unlock it with the 0000 code so it plays mp3's & do afew other neat little changes. The LG8500 "chocolate" can play wma's & mp3's, but it can't be unlocked & unless you're paying for music through the verizon hicky, you can only import WMA's. So basically... That leaves the VX8300 as the only verizon phone that will play mp3 files with any ease. Regardless of what you get her. If it has the ability to play music, plan to buy a Micro SD card off ebay & get your hands on a USB phone cable, or a card reader capable of reaidng the micro sd card. The phone will be essentually useless as a music player on internal memory. 2gig cards are still around $100, so I would buy the cheapest 1g micro sd card you can find. Should come out around $25-30usd shipped on ebay. Either way, don't buy her a Razor, or anything that looks like one. It'll be a social disaster. While they are descent, solid little phones. Everyone & their brother has one. The LG forum @ phonescoop http://www.phonescoop.com/phones/m_forum.php?ff=4
  19. Maybe stop driving faster to see if it makes u faster? idk.
  20. 92-96 tails are old ugly in the day, and OK looking at night. I wouldn't worry about it.
