The Es 350 And The Camry Almost Identical
Toysrme replied to cardona6569's topic in 07 - 12 Lexus ES350
Who gives a *BLEEP*? Regardless of what drive system is Lexus doesn't make a single steering system, or suspension package that doesn't manuver like relative !Removed!. It's how things are... Discussing if FWD >/< RWD on a Lexus is like discussing how closely you should shave your balls. Factory anything sucks hind tit. If you put engineering effort behind either system. That system is better than the other. If you put equal effort into both systems, they're equal. Enough with it already.... -
Same things you have been.
-
We do not have front sway bars. Rear sway bars is what you want to upgrade on a FWD car. Noone has made RSB's for the gen 3 Camry platform (92-96) because they're big enough already. Toyota downgraded their size in 1997.

1994 Lexus Es300 Shifting Into Reverse
Toysrme replied to mr ivory's topic in 92 - 06 Lexus ES250/300/330
Change the transmissino fluid anyways because it's good for you. The problem is the dogbone mount has worn out. Probably the rest of the engine mounts too, but that's the one that keeps the torque rocking to a minimum. -
Let's put it this way. There was a time span of about 4-6 years where they were specified. Then they were dumped infavor of single electrode plugs all over again.
-
I would like to add that the wifey changes her own oil and other small maintenance items on her es. By the way I have been a professional chef for the better part of 30 years, No wonder the wifey doesn't bother with cooking. Nice. ;) Hey hunnie! Roll Tide~! ;)
-
Bosch multiple electrode plugs are the worst plugs on the face of the Earth. Buy NGK, or Denso & stick with them for all of eternity. Denso coils like Japanese plugs.

94 Es300 1mz-fe Has More Coils Than 96es300 1mz-fe
Toysrme replied to godfather18's topic in 92 - 06 Lexus ES250/300/330
94's are coil on plug. 95+ is wasted spark. One coil drives two plugs at the same time. -
I'm a great cook so I don't really give a crap LoL! If she doesn't know how to cook, great. I'll teach her to make what we both like. If she has an idea how it works, that's good too. Just all the more to bring to the table.

Then drill & tap them to accept a manly sized bolt. :D http://www.lsuagcenter.com/en/lawn_garden/...ning+Torque.htm

By the time you pay for just the leather seats out of a junked ES 300. You could have paid for selling that ES for another 92-93 that had the sunroof. ;) Just a thought. :) Welcome back!

Bolts through the rotors always worked for me.
-
You MUST use the correct TT fluid in your transmission. That being TT-IV. NOT Dexron (or anything else).
-
It says it on the bottle, but ATF+3 & ++4 are Chrystler fluids that have completely differen viscosities & friction ratings than Dexron. That stuff won't run a Dexron transmission for a minute & vice versa without causing major problems in shifting & slipping. Were there problems before putting it in & are they worse now?
-
The valve body controlls the shift time. There is no increase in power. A torque convertor can increase the starting power at launch, or gear shift by letting the engine into more of the RPM band, or controlling torque mutuplication for an instant. FLUSH THE ATF+4. It does NOT replace Dexron-II, or Dexron-III.
-
How's the fluid? I'd just get a transmission out of an ES/Camry & have someone drop yours & reinstall it. Or if you can pluck the engine & transmission with a hoist do that. Rebuilt transmissions, or new transmissions from a dealer can get veeeeerrry expencive! But if you need to do any swap, pawn up the $50 or so & install an extra cooler. Always. :) best thing you can ever do short of changing the fluid often.
-
Because the life of the transmission depends on it, and that's the failure point in any automatic transmission. $10 of fluid @ wallmart, a 10mm allen wrench & a $2 pan to drain the fluid in. You'll need a 14mm wratchet & socket to change the mounts. You should change atleast the lateral mount. The thing is... It handles all of the torque of the engine. When it wears out. All the torque must be absorbed by every other eninge mount. Which greatly accellerates their wear. You can find cheap chinese replacements on ebay. Call your local Toyota dealer, and independant mechanics to see what it would cost for someone else to do it. There's a black mount that looks like a dog-bone (sorta) on the passanger's side of the engine that connects to the wheel well. Get your girlfriend to shift the car in gear & you watch the thing. If the entire jumps more than about an inch or so. You *really* need to change the dogbone & atleast the front enough mount is probably shot, or getting there.
-
No. For $2200 you could have IPT build a custom rebuild a transmission, torque converter, valve body & limited slip diferential that would hold 700 horsepower. Don't replace the torque converter, nothing's wrong with it. What makes you think it's shot? Buy a used transmission for a couple hundred bucks & spend $50 installing an auxillary cooler. www.kbb.com

How Often Do You Check Engine Oil And/or Tire Pressure?
Toysrme replied to coolwater's topic in 92 - 06 Lexus ES250/300/330
Weekly, but I have a compressor @ the house, and a really nice intigrated tire pressure dial gauge / filler so. No big deal for me. AFA the oil. I tend to check it every week, or so after I park & have a second. Just put an old clean rag in the corner of the engine bay. Swear to god you'll check your fluid levels 9,376 times more often if you know you won't get your hands dirty in the process! And anytime you do the oil. Leave the engine idling & check the transmission fluid first! I'm bigger on transmission checking than oil. For no other reason than at somepoint every village idiot will change the oil. Most won't touch the transmission fluid LoL! -
Change the dogbone (lateral) engine mount & front engine mount yourself. Take this opportunity to know that > 90% of transmissions fail from burned, or low fluid levels. Now let that sink in. Alittle more. Change you transmissin fluid!

2000 Es 300 Pops Back Thru Intake (backfire?)
Toysrme replied to vetmx1's topic in 92 - 06 Lexus ES250/300/330
That's good mileage. Running lean means you're running too little fuel. You're running lean if you're backfiring. You *really* need to get ontop of that in a hurry before you're out alot of money. It'll be bad when you destroy a $500 MAF, A $150 IAC, or $300 worht of EGR valve equipment. Breaks off rubber hoses, or god forbid the detonation in another cylinder caused by the explotion in the intake manifold running down other open intake valves shatters a piston, or busts a rod. Bad bad bad bad bad! Not a condition you want to continue driving in indeffinately. -
Ditto. While good warranties are priceless when *BLEEP* hits the fan. I'd *much* rather see someone spend $150 installing an auxillary engine oil cooler, a good filtration system, a transmission cooler. And bringing anything fluid, or grease related back into like new conditions. (Changing, flushing, and cleaning)

Tony Leung's '94 V6 Camry Turbo, First 1/4 Mile Trip
Toysrme replied to Toysrme's topic in 92 - 06 Lexus ES250/300/330
Boost controllers are free............ Which transforms alot of Imported cars into things American muscle can't touch without blowing money into rebuilds, and drivetrain modifications until you get into much newer, cars. -
Just the service manager being a . I've personalyl serviced about as many RX's as I have highlanders when I work for a Toyota dealer. lol! (as much as I agree with you, watch the language!)
