  1. I was thinking of getting some tail light assemblies from a junk yard/ebay and then attempting to disassemble them. I would like to take out the yellow cover and maybe even the red. Then put in some colored bulps or LEDs. Not sure how to disassemble the plastic and then re-glue it though. I looked at autolumination, which Tower LED's are the right ones for a 93?
  2. I know there are some aftermarket (newer style) tail lights for lots of Japanese cars, but I can't find any for the 93-95 ES300's. I just think the tail lights look so much better on the 97+ years, and was hoping I could replace mine with something cooler. Anyone know of any aftermarket options?
  3. I have the same problem with my 93 and had hoped that when I buy a newer one some day, it would have more head room. I am 6' but to make it worse I am 230lbs so I take up a little more room than some skinny person. What really bothers me is sitting in the passenger seat! Is it too much to ask for Japanese LUXURY car makers to give the up/down feature to passenger seats? I think they have mastered the technology on the drivers seats by now! I even considered trying to pull parts from another drivers seat and fabricating/modding them to work in my passenger seat. Probably a pipe dream though.
  4. I found this from Leather World Technologies. Do you think this was what you ordered? http://www.leatherworldtech.com/ProductInf...p;choice2=Ivory Or maybe this from Leather Magic? http://leathermagic.com/Pages/dlxlthrrepkit.htm Either way, you have been a big help because I was wondering if any of these DIY kits even work. I know there is a leather repair product that is "As Seen on TV" which to me means it is a scam.
  5. My 93's leather is in pretty good condition in that there are no tares or holes. However, it is getting older and the cracks are getting darker. I used the Zaino Bros Z-9 and 10 which helped reduce much of the cracked look, however it is still apparent that the seats are old and with my 230 lb body I think they are going to get worse quick. So, does anybody know of any good leather repair kits that will let me fill in the cracks or color them at least so that they are not visible? I think auto parts stores have some but I don't know if I should trust them?? I have tan leather.
  6. Alright, I tightened down the bolts a little bit (I think?) They wouldn't move so I backed tham out a quarter turn and then I believe I was able to tighten them a little further. It still does the oil buring thing occasionally, but it does seem to be less frequent. I guess I will have to live with it. I didn't respond to this question before, it has 169k miles. I just bought it a few months ago and really love the car. It's in great shape except for a few common trouble areas. I like that I was able to buy a nice luxury car for under 4k which I can maintain with toyota parts!
  7. Will do. I already replaced the main radiator cap because it was pretty badly deteriorated but not the engine outlet cap. I also replaced the thermostat with the genuine 82 Deg C Toyota part. I found an aftermarket 78 Deg C on the car so it looks like the previous owner already tried to fix the problem. Not sure what the pressure caps are, I could not find them in the FSM. Is that another word for the radiator caps? And how do I check the radiator? I drained it to replace the thermostat and the coolant didn't have too much rust or sludge. When the car is running, the air that the fan pulls through is warm so I think it is displacing the heat like it should. Maybe it is not displacing the heat fast enough or good enough.
  8. Thanks xxxavier2k! I could not find "variable speed valve" in the FSM but you did help me narrow down my search. I focused on the Steering pinion area and found a socket (with my hand not my eyes) that the wire fit. The great thing is that this wire appears to be the wire that communicates with the fan soloniod to tell the cooling fan to speed up. My car has always run one tick above the middle of the temp guage, but after I bumped this wire loose, it kept over heating to the red, even with the AC on. After plugging this wire back in, the fan started speeding up automatically like it used to and now the guage is back to one tick above middle. Now I just need to figure out what to do to get the car running in the middle of the temp guage like it should be??
  9. While working in my engine compartment I found a wire that either I bumped loose or was already loose. The problem is that I can't find a female plug for it anywhere. It is two yellow wires with a white connector coming out of the main wire conduit that runs along the rear valve cover. It is not the wire that connects to the rear O2 sensor. Someone here must know where this wire goes!
  10. Alright, thanks for the input. I need to see if I can get the heat shield off without removing the whole intake plenem. Then I'm going to need some really long socket extensions so I'll give it a try in a few days. Thanks again.
  11. I have a little bit of white smoke out the back when I gas it or if I just start it. Man that's terrible if the oil is leaking into the exhaust chambers! How would it get into the chambers? The head gasket maybe? I imagine if that is the case, changing the exhaust manifold gasket won't last me too long before it starts doing it again. Brandon
  12. Yeah, the oil is leaking from the manifold where it meets the head (8 bolts). Just to clarify, I don't have an exhaust leak smell, it is the smell of the oil that is dripping on the exhaust pipe and burning. I changed the valve cover gaskets initially and then I saw that the oil was not leaking down the back side. It was originating around the manifold gasket. Strange huh???
  13. I have oil leaking on my exhaust pipe causing the common burnt oil smell. After searching the board I believed it was my rear valve cover gasket, so I replaced it. While I was in there I found a significant leak that appears to be coming out of the rear exhaust manifold gasket, but that seems wierd to me. I didn't even know oil was anywhere near the exhaust manifold gasket?? So does oil flow to the manifold gasket? If it does, do I need to drain the oil before I replace the gaskets so oil doesn't spew all over the place? Apologies if this has already been covered, I couldn't find it anywhere.
