  1. Save up for new rotors and pads all the way around. Get ready to spend almost a grand at a Lexus dealership.
  2. Ok guys I only have 4500 miles on this car and there is condensation in the passenger side fog light. Anyone else have this problem. When I get my oil changed soon i'm going to have them clean it out or replace it.
  3. No you must press the lower button. So your truck is still in the garage? What are you gona do?
  4. 1. Ask him/her 2. If the service was done at Lexus they should have a record of it (can be accessed nationwide by dealer). Also there should be a sticker on the frame in front of the radiator showing the date and the miles at which the timing belt was changed. This is what the Lexus dealership did here in Houston.

  6. That's strange that you must lower it everytime to get it in the garage and now that it's IN there it suddenly will not work at all. Are you leaving a door ajar while you are trying to lower it? All the doors must be closed or else it will not do anything. Or you could place the heavy trunk back into the truck to help lower it. Or just get a !Removed! neighbor to come sit in it. Let us know how it goes!!
  7. For anyone that may have this question later. Come to find out there are MANY heat shields that will crack and start to rattle over the years. Pain in the !Removed! but they are cheap...100 dollars to fix this last rattle. Can't wait for the next one!!

  9. I just picked up my 98 LX470 today from 3 days of the 90k service and almost depleted my income tax check..... Timing belt, water pump, thermostat changed. Flushed and replaced coolant, transmission and all transfer case fluid Lubed drive shafts Thottle body cleaned Changed A/C filter and engine air filter Flushed and replaced AHC fluid Sterling McCall Lexus of Houston = $2500 :o
  10. No one seems to be able to help me with this issue. For some reason I am constantly fighting with the tires to keep them balanced right. Sometimes the steering is tight and is free of bucking, then other times I have to hold on with 2 hands before it gets away from me. Also depending on the road surfaces. Every 3k miles when I get my oil changed I must get the tires road forced balanced. This is the only balance that will cure the problem though only temporary. My previous 2 4Runners did this also and I was never able to fix the problem. Are there certain tires that are made to be smoother and less prone to this issue? Currently I have kind of sporty / offroad Cooper Zeon LTZ's tires on my LX470. Maybe some maw maw type michilens will be better? I'm just waiting for these to go bald to try something new. My balance was PERFECT and the wheel never shook until the other day I got 2 nails in the back drivers side tire. I had it patched and now the steering wheel shakes again.....the front tires were not even touched except to remove front wheels temporaraly to replace the rotors which I had done the same time of the tire patching. So the only tire actually removed from the wheel was the rear drivers side. How could this make the steering wheel shake like this? It is possible an unblanced rear tire could also play a part in steering shimmy? I am going to get them rebalanced again next week. This is an annoying waste of 50 bucks every few months.

  12. It's a dumb driver until I see proof otherwise that it was a computer failure. But I guess I should not be so harsh. If it happens to me I will recant. And sorry I thought it was you playing a trick!!
  13. Well i'm sorry I am a Lexus fan but honestly look where you are at. This IS INDEED a Lexus Ownership Club website. And I can see by your user name you obviously got on here just to post this. (which is lame) I think either you are very good friends with amcdonald...or are acutally him with a new name, or quite possibly the dumb person who wrecked their IS250 in the earlier pictures posted. Anyway...because you are such an expert on cruise control and computer problems I don't know why you are here trying to waste your time with fans. Send you expert opinion to Lexus. But I am sure they will have the same reaction as us. This is old news and almost every car company has supposedly had these problems. Remember AUDI, GM, and FORD? Do YOUR research.
  14. I'm not surprised......you can google any car company and place "sudden acceleration" behind it and you will find millions of sites like these. I'm sure it's all driver error or improperly installed floor mats......but.....if not...there is an easy fix in any car... The transmission in any car is easily put into neutral at any speed. <_<
  15. The LX470 suspension is alot more than just shocks. You most likely need new accumulators. You can read up on the LX470 suspension and also buy parts here...... http://activesuspensionsystems.com/index.html Very expensive system to have work on.
  16. I'm confused. Are you saying the headlights in general almost made you wreck?...or was it while the AFS was swiveling the light that you almost wrecked? Please explain the situation.

Honestly for insurance reasons I'm sure she would blame it on the car....if you were to have your foot on the brake like she had stated and the car started to lurch forward more you would automatically press on the brake as hard as you could...causing the front wheels to lock but the rear would spin. In this case the car would not go anywhere and just waste the rear tires. (Lots of people do this to show off but I think it's a waste of rubber) So if she really had her foot on the brake like she stated I think the car would not have ended up a few parking lots over. I think she honestly BELIEVED to have had her foot on the brake and really had it on the gas pedal. BUT, could the cars throttle have gotten stuck? It's possible but I doubt it if she was on the brake.
  18. Does a Ford Taurus have a camber adjustment?? Haa I have no idea but you can get maw maw tires that last 150k miles with white walls with the crappy 16" wheels and tires.
  19. Look guys. Everyone knows that tires that come from the factory are crap. They only last 10k miles and wear funny. You guys need to go get you some top of the line michelins and try them out. Also the summer tires for these cars are soft and do not last long anyway. If you are worried about this then go get a Ford Taurus.
  20. I have a question with anyone with a 03-07 LX470 because they all come with 18" wheels. I have a 98 LX470 with the 18" wheels from a 06-07 model and I was wondering if anyone had suggestions about good tires for these wheels. Ones that are quiet and smooth. Because with the tires I have on them now I have a hard time keeping them balanced perfect because the steering wheel shakes sometimes at highway speeds. I do not know if this is just a Toyota thing because 2 previous 4Runners I have owned which were both 98 models did this and also I test drove a new 08 4Runner with 20 miles on it and the steering wheel was shaking on the highway and I was completely horrified. Now assuming there is no hope as every Toyota SUV I have driven is doing this. So if any you guys DO NOT have this issue with 18" wheels. Let me know what tires you have so I can try them out!!! Thanks. <_<
  21. Open the tailgate and then you must unsnap the carpeted part. It's easier with two people as the plastic part that says "Lexus" has to be pulled up out of the way as it will spring back in place if someone is not holding it. Don't be afraid to pull on the carpeted part; it will snap back with ease. When it's off you will see where the lights are. There are three screws you must undo so you can take off the metal cover. Should be pretty easy from there!
  22. I used to have a rattle coming from underneath my truck at about 70k miles......it ended up being the heat sheild. It was very loud and rattled at any RPM cold or after the engine has heated up. It was replaced and now I am at 96k miles and I hear something similar coming from under the truck only after cold starts and just for about 30 seconds until the truck heats up. So I looked under the truck and I notice 2 catalytic converters. So my question is......are there 2 seperate heat sheilds and possibly they only changed one? Or is the heat sheild in a totally different place than I think...which is around the catalytic converters? Any opinions will help!
  23. You need a new starter. I had the same problem and replaced starter @ 70k miles....i'm @ 96k now with no problems.
  24. It's the orange dipstick at the top of the engine. Stand on the drivers side with the hood open and it is right next to the master cylinder for the brakes.
