Well said. Maybe it's my tone of voice but my IS350 never misinterprits what I say. I'd take the factory nav over my old Garmin Street Pilot anyday.

Maybe you got some water in the tank from some bad gas. Get the tank totally drained and start over.

For the Camry... 3.5-liter DOHC 24-valve dual VVT-i V6; 268 hp @ 6200 rpm and 248 lb.-ft. or torque at 4700 rpm For the ES350... 3.5 liter DOHC 24-valve dual VVT-i V6; 272 hp @ 6200rpm and 254 lb-ft of torque at 4,700 rpm I'm thinking a few very minor tuning adjustments require the premium fuel to squeeze a few more HP and torque out of the Lexus. My IS350 and LX470 require premium and I would never use anything less. There are a lot of arguments of whether using regular gas will cause damage to the engine but no one really knows. But I paid too much money for these cars and love them so much not to treat them with the utmost respect. -
In a way I'm sorry but then again...You need to test drive the car you want and try to use all the functions to make sure you like everything first. Do more research about it and then test drive it again. Seems as if you went into it to impulsively. The only thing I agree with you on is the navigation functions not available with in motion but you can use it if you want to by using the voice commands. I find it easier than actually inputting the info myself with the touch screen with my IS350. You should try it. But honestly I'm not trying to be rude but all of your other dislikes seem a little, how should I put it.....a little bit too picky. But everyone is different and certain things bother people differently. All of your dislikes to me I would not have a problem with. And also. I never buy a new car the first year they come out with a brand new total redesign, all the bugs are not worked out yet and those are the ones that usually have the most problems. I wanted the IS350 in 06 but waited until 09. But I'm very sorry you are unhappy with the car.

Really? Do you think the IS transmission is poorly made? The U.S. specification IS250 is a fairly heavy car (3,400+ pounds) and has about the same power-to-weight ratio as the first Lexus LS I bought 19+ years ago and used to pull a utility trailer hundreds of times with no ill effects. That old 1990 LS400 is still doing fine with its current owner at over 275,000 miles. I've had a trailer hitch on almost every car I've owned since the 1960s and have never had a mechanical issue caused by towing a trailer. Oddly, outside North America, the Toyota Motor Company thinks that the Lexus IS is completely suitable for towing. Here is a screen image from the Lexus U.K. website that describes the towing capabilities of IS220d (Diesel) and IS250 (gasoline) cars sold in the U.K.: There is nothing different about the IS sold in other countries that makes it more acceptable for towing. A bonus of having a hitch is that it allows using a receiver mounted bike rack -- unlike with a car top bike rack, with a receiver bike rack there is no wind noise, little/no risk of damaging the car, easy for a short person to load a bike, it provides a stand for for working on bikes and you don't have to worry about forgetting that your bikes are on your car top and crunching them on an overhead structure. Ahhhh that's awesome!!! I could tow my 2 jet skis with my IS350!!! I've only been using the LX470!! That is hilarious!!!! -
Ok so you drive it 5 days out of 7 days in a week? That is the way normal people drive. That is a ridiculous statement from the dealer that you are not driving your car enough. I can't believe they would even tell you that. There is no way the battery should be doing this x2. You should be able to leave any car not driven for weeks with no problems. When my room mate went to Mexico his LX sat in the garage for 1 month without being driven and started right up when he got back. Something is draining the battery when the car is off….as if something is staying on that should turn off. Or the alternator is bad. But is is also possible but rare that you get 2 bad batteries in a row but it can happen. The NEW Lexus battery I had in my LX lasted only 6 months. So instead of getting it towed an hour and a half away to my nearest Lexus dealer I went to autozone and got a Duralast and did it myself and haven't replaced it in 3 years.

I can't say I've ever felt like that. Until now every car experience I've had I walked away feeling great about. The last two were done 100% on line. Brand new, 5k under invoice, fair trade value, they faxed me the papers I'd be signing. I showed up tossed them my keys, they tossed me their keys, I saw the papers matched, signed, thanked them and left. I swear I wasn't there more than 15 minutes, and only that long because they wanted a picture of us with the car for their wall. Guess who I called the second I was ready to buy a new car! Too bad they didn't carry the model I wanted, but I'll call them again next time too. The truth is, customers are flooding in right now due to this CARS offer. That will end very soon and showrooms will be empty once again. If a dealer is unethical or treats someone poorly now there's no chance in the world they will get that business when they need it the most. Plus they will lose business from anyone that person talks to. Buying a car should be a great experience. You are correct. I think the Badger thought he could raise the price and think you would freak and rush to still buy it by trying to tell you the cash for clunkers doesn't apply or will be over soon. Trying to make you think getting $3500 for your trade will soon be gone. Which was wrong of him. And by the way, that video was awesome. -
Sounds like maybe some parts need some lubrication? Popping and creaking noises with suspension parts usually means it's time for some lube. Take it to the dealer for an assessment. Looks like you still have some warranty left.

If you are mechanically inclined enough to change your own transmission fluid I'm sure you can tinker around with the running board and figure out what is wrong with it. It could be as simple as a fuse or disconnected wire. And if it makes you feel better my 98 wasn’t even available with running board lights.

You're fine. I hope you can find a dealer to work with you and get you the price you want. I love buying a new car but on the other hand dealing with the sales people and their games make it hardly worth the fun. So I take a more laid back approach to keep me from getting stressed out. Just to make it quicker, I pay sticker. They are usually shocked that I do not want to haggle with them as if they enjoy it. Then usually they will go ahead and knock off the price some for me. But in the end no matter how good of a deal you get. You always feel they rip you off. -

HI Sure Use two 6 ohm equalizers for two front, or two rear led turn signal bulbs. If you have led turn signal bulbs in the front and rear (4 led turn signal bubs total), use two 3 ohm. Place one load equalizer on each side. For turn signal led bulbs, the equalizer must be spliced across the - ground wire and the + turn signal wire feeding each led bulb. Sorry to hear they treated you like that and ruined the Lexus name for you. But I guess every dealer is different and most are probably like the one you experienced. I didn’t have a problem at Sterling McCall here in Houston. But there are 3 others in Houston besides the one I go to. They have internet sales. I don’t know how all that works because I went in person but maybe you can buy from a different dealership and they can ship it to you? It’s worth a try getting the price you want. -

The bulbs I got were discribed as this....... Outfitted with the latest Super High-Flux low profile 3x 1 watt Leds Designed especially for Light Housings, and applications requiring a large uniform field of bright light Only 20mm diameter x 41mm overall - fits all stock housings And I also figured I needed a load equalizer but on their website there are so many I am unsure which one will work for my car. A few say for Toyota/Lexus and then more that say for newer Toyota/Lexus. So I emailed the guy and hopefully he can point me in the right direction as to which one to get. And as for installation, if I have to take half the car apart to get to a bulb I will let the dealer do it. Hope they don't give me any trouble with it. And quang you are saying that if I install the LED bulbs they will not work when locking and unlocking the car? -
There was some kind of recall where the paint is pealing on Smokey Topaz but I see you say the truck is white. I haven't heard any problems with the white color. As for the D on the dash board. Mine has been out for some time. Don't know how much to fix it but it really doesn't bother me. I can see what gear i'm in if I look at the shifter. As for the running board lights there should be an easy DIY fix for those if they are the bulbs burnt out and not something electrical. And if you flush and change the transmission fluid as I did at my 90k mile service (I think it was between $150-300 dollar job) a few months ago the truck shifts alot smoother. So hopefully that is the problem here. It will probably be a good buy. My 98 is going strong. Had her since she was born. No major replacements done. Just fluids and whatever the manual says.

It was a more detailed comment correcting your inaccuracy about me trying to help out on this board. So you seem to be the one who needs to get over it. I had already forgotten about it. Convert To Led Turn Signals.

Well after I posted the question I started to do some of my own research. I found on a website that the front and rear turn signals for the IS are type 7440. So then I googled "7440 LED" and a slew of supposed plug and play LED replacement bulb websites popped up. I bought 6 to try and replace both the rear and I noticed there are 2 for each front turn signal. They were only like, 5 dollars each. Soooo.....I guess I will let you guys know if they work. Next thing is.....how the heck do I get behind all the plastic parts to change the bulbs. Anyone know how? I might just be lazy and with my next oil change see if the dealer will do it. -
Is it possible to buy LED type plug and play turn signal lamps at any sort of auto part store for my 09 IS350. I'd like them for the front and the rear. I need to know what type of bulbs are used and hopefully if I can find a LED type they will work. I wish Lexus already made the turn signals LED and not just the brake lamps!! Anyone ever try?

Agreed ^ WHy did the IS-F get their own sub-forum? It's still a 2nd gen chassis. Or they too good for the rest of us common folk? :D I'd say for the engine and almost every part is different in the IS-F. With the C, the only difference is that it has 2 doors and the top drops!!

Both of your cars are fairly high powered so can take some lugging. Your comments are not applicable to this discussion based on your models. It also has nothing to do with not understanding the concept. The problem is a shifting action every few seconds on even moderate inclines. The car seems to cycle far too often in a surge (downshift) and lug (engine stall) pattern that is quite distracting and even disconcerting. The CC setting band between surge and lug seems to be far to narrow - like a home thermostat setting in a 1/10th degree band. It is to the point that, at least in my case, CC is not used unless on flat ground (as you imply). BTW - my V-8 Ford truck takes the same hills with CC in overdrive without a single downshift. When the RX is not in CC on the same roads it does not shift nearly as often to maintain the desired speed. The IS250 of the OP might experience the same circumstances. While engine HP is certainly a factor, with the CC engaged there seems to be a change the RPM shift points. Since this is electronically controlled rather than vacuum controlled it seems that a reprogramming could change the settings. Lexus may have programmed the smaller engines to do exactly what is being observed. First of all, everyones comments on here are applicable to any discussion. So slander on this board is not needed. I'd like to see how you know you are driving on the same grade hill as these other guys are in your Ford. And the reason the RX does not shift nearly as often as when CC is on is because you are not pressing the throttle enough for it to upshift. You are allowing a greater band of deceleration which is fine. But when CC is on, it wants to keep the speed set and will do anything it can to keep it there. Driving with your own foot and with the CC are two different animals and somehow I will get it through your heads. But anyway regardless this is a normal function of any car cruise control on or not. If you want to maintain a certain speed you are going to have to press the gas more and sometimes the car is going to upshift is my point...depending on the engines power and the amount of throttle you give it. But when in cruise it will only allow a certain amout of deceleration before it says...."hey I need to speed up". And if it cannot keep the current speed in the gear the car is already in it wll upshift and get you there the quickest way possible. So all in all the point is....this is completly normal. My tank LX470 does it with CC, my dads Dodge Ram with the Hemi does it with CC, it's all the same. But I can drive both of these cars on the same roads and be more sensitive with the throttle and they will react normal not trying to keep the same speed. Never has my IS350 done it though. It has enough power in almost any gear to maintain a speed even on some grades that I have driven on. But i'm sure there are some that would make it upshift. But I do not live in a hilly area. So if these "actions" by a normal functioning car bother your. Don't use the cruise. I understand that driving at a normal speed and then all of a sudden it upshifting to keep up the speed can feel like the car is going out of control without your input but hey, that is was cruise control is used for. So because my comments are "not applicable" i'm just going to tell you guys to get used to the way cruise control works. Or don't use it at all. You are not going to get anything done by complaining to Lexus about it.

Ok guys this is a totally normal function and not a design problem for any car with cruise control on going up a hill. Just think if you are driving without cruise and going uphill and the car starts to slow down. If you want to maintain the same speed you are going to have to press harder on the accelerator and most likely the car will up-shift if you are dead set on maintaining the same speed without going too far under. So either don't use the cruise or get over it. And to top it off the crappier the engine is in your car the worse the downshift jerk and the longer the RPM will stay high in a lower gear to maintain the set speed. I cannot fathom how so many people do not understand this.

Also make sure their is no debris such as a twig or a leaf in the tract which should make it automatically open back up if it is obstructed. -
Yeah I thought it was odd that with all this technology in cars that they were saying it was impossible to lubricate squeaking parts. They were most likely trying to cheat me out of $1700.
