  1. My 98 LX470 started to do that a few months ago. Dealership said that there is no way they can lubricate the parts to stop the squeaking as they are all internal. They also stated that the squeaking is sometimes indicative of the motor about to wear out which means it will stop working. They quoted $1700 for a replacement. After I laughed at the price for some time I got them to position the steering wheel where I wanted and made them disable the auto tilt and telescope. And eureka, no more squeaking. So if I were you I would just get them to disable the system. Because honestly how much is it really needed? Because once I put it in the position I wanted it in, I haven't touched it in the 11 years I have had the truck. So unless it bothers you that it doesn't move away from you when the key is removed and then moved back at you when the key is inserted $1700 dollars might be worth it to you.
  2. Yeah i'd like to see what they say. Mine is a 98 and does not seem to qualify for the TSB. But yours seems to still be under warranty. Please let me know what they fix or tell you what is broken. Not that it is hurting anything but it is just an annoying sight.
  3. Seems as if some relay electrical switch has malfunctioned. Bring it to the dealer.
  4. No it's not going to hurt anything to have different kinds of tires all the way around. But i'm anal about my car and I wouldn't be able to stand it unless they all matched and were the same tire. But honestly your car will be ok!!
  5. Does anyone know of a good place to take the car in the Oklahoma City, OK area besides the dealership? Someone that could do it for less? I'd say the next safest place would be a Toyota dealership...but if you don't want a dealership at all i'm sorry but i'm not from your area.
  6. I think it's fine. The car is constantly trying to maintain the speed set at and when going uphill it will open the throttle alot more than you probably would if you were driving without the cruise and it downshifts quickly to maintain the set speed.
  7. Shamoo don't forget about the HID headlights with AFS. You want that too. And honestly I don't think the ML system is worth it. I test drove with the premium system that is standard and also one with the ML and they are both very great systems. I could not tell a difference at all with the same settings applied. I doubt you will be able to tell the difference other than there are a few more speakers. So make sure you listen to both of the systems so you know for sure the extra price will be worth it to you. And also I got my 09 IS350 November 10th of 08 so they should at least be available by that time if not sooner.
  8. Like I said earlier, you guys are trading appearance for performance.
  9. It will not hurt anything to rotate the tires that way but honestly it will not do any good. Switching the front wheels with each other still subjects them to cornering and all the other hazards of being on the front of the car. Same goes for the rear tires. The only reason you rotate tires is to move the front tires to the back and vice versa to get an even wear pattern on the tires. Just moving them to the opposite side will probably really not make any difference in your wear pattern. But because rear wheel drive versions of the IS are staggered sizes you cannot rotate the tires in the normal fasion.
  10. Heck yeah. You will enjoy the navigation much better I promise.
  11. Seems fair to me. A few years ago I was sideswiped in my LX470 and the entire passenger side of the truck had to be repainted and front fender replaced. Cost was $2300.00 to fix. Seems as if you need about the same parts replaced. Though the LX is a little bit bigger.
  12. Niiiiice. My IS350 is that color. Looks good in the sun. You got a nice shine going on....I can see what I think is an Oldsmobile Bravada in the reflection in the garage!!
  13. Uhg that already sounds expensive. I would assume that if the truck drives while in 4L that the transmission is ok and that it is the transfer case that is malfunctioning and not sending power to the wheels. But I am just throwing a guess out there. The truck should always be in AWD mode but I do not know the bias as to how much power is fed to the front and rear wheels while in normal driving mode and would not know why locking the center differential would move the truck. Sorry that you are having this problem. Let us know what you find out!
  14. Sorry dude, I wasn't trying to be mean or anything. I just thought it was weird your answer had nothing to do with my question lol. Sorry about that. But yeah, I really did look through literally like everything on Lexus.ca, and there's nothing about parking sensors. I found out the car in the picture is a US model, not Canadian. Maybe I need to check with the dealer, because I remember seeing a vehicle in the dealer with the park-assist, but I'm not 100% sure. I pretty much just want to save money, so if I can get park assist w/o navi, then I'd rather go that route, and buy a separate GPS system. Anyways, thanks a lot man. Hah it's ok. It's really no big deal. But as per the website goes...the intuitive park assist seems not to be with any packages and should be a stand alone option. If you can't find one like you'd like tell them you want to build one to your specs. They should let you do it. It will take a few weeks for it to come in but it might be worth it to you.
  15. I'd let the Lexus dealership look at it. You don't let safety things like that go. But most likely there is a wire that has come loose or unplugged.
  16. Well excuse the hell out of me. The way that post was written it came across to me that you wanted confirmation that those were the park assist sonar’s circled in red and that you needed to know also how they work. And I was trying to help you decide which is more important to you because they do different things. And because this is a public post. Someone else might run across it will have the answer to the question they might want to know. So to you, my apologizes. But you should not get so hostel when you are asking for help and someone tries. It seems you are being lazy because options and accessories are easily found on the lexus.com website; you are just going to have to look a little harder because I promise it is there. It breaks down which options come with which packages. And some are stand alone options and do not come with any packages. You're just going to have to do your own research. And don't bother asking a sales rep. They are dumb as dirt. All they know how to do is sell cars. And are not very well at it. But because I’m a nice person and don't hold grudges I have done the research and found the answer to your question. The Intuitive Parking Assist for front and rear is a stand alone option for $500.00 and not available with any package. They do not make very many with it so if you want it without navi you will probably have trouble finding one. You might have to special order it. But that is just how it is here in the states. If you get options like that here in the states, the car is usually fully loaded. But the ultimate answer to your question is if you can get the park assist without navi and the answer is YES. But personally having the navi is awesome. I think you should get both!!
  17. A simple fix would be to find the fuse that works the folding and extending part. Hopefully if it is not connected to anything else important...and if you don't mind them not folding anymore. Otherwise seems as if you might need to bring it to the dealer if you want it fixed. I'd be curious to see how much they would want for a small item like that. Honestly i'd guess over $500.00. I'd like to know because mine are getting to the point to where randomly they will sometimes not fold or extend when the button is pressed. I'd like to get them fixed just because it is a nice feature in such a large truck in tight parking. If you find out before me how much let me know! I will do the same!!
  18. Aww well i'm sorry. But i'm sure that thing is old as crap. What is it, a 1988? I'm not really into old cars like that. So if you lived on my street i'd still think your Lexus was better than the Ferarri.
  19. Yes those ARE parking sensors front and rear. But if it has navigation it will still have the reverse camera. The sensors will be more accurate as to how close you are to an object for parking as where the camera is just for you to see if it is safe to reverse period.
  20. Honestly to tell you the truth it won't get any better. I only have 6,800 miles on my IS350 and have plenty of rock chips and I never remember driving behind cement or gravel trucks. It is just what you get for driving on the highway. They do not use the same strength paints as they used to as it is "detrimental" to the environment. So they use the cheap stuff which is not the fault of Lexus but the fault of the EPA. I hear the best way to go is to get the clear bra. But I also hear they do not recommend it after the car is already riddled with chips and scratches. But it's worth a try. With my next oil change I am going to inquire about the clear bra for my car and see what they say.
  21. Hell yeah!! My neighbors probably think I’m crazy but hey, I got the nicest, cleanest cars on the block!! Don't forget about the LX470 I wash just as often!! It's 11 years old and everyone I meet thinks it's brand new.
  22. You are not going to get rid of the brake dust. My 09 IS350 starts to show signs of brake dust only after about a week of driving. Supposedly the IS has a high performance high friction brake system. The pads and rotors I think are softer. Which is better than on normal cars but the trade-off is more brake dust. Be glad you don't own a BMW. If you have noticed they are 10x worse with the brake dust. But those suckers will stop on a dime. So you have a few options......wash the wheels daily or get a cheaper car with crappy brakes. But there is a simpler fix....change your driving habits. I notice if you anticipate a stop and start to brake before waiting till the last minute to stop by slamming on the brakes you will help create less dust. Such as letting off the gas sooner when you know you are about to have to stop, or using the steering wheel shifters to up-shift and help the engine stop the car. Try it, it works. But for some reason everyone these days is in such a hurry they feel they will get somewhere faster by waiting until they get 10 feet from a stop light or stop sign to start braking from 70 mph. I wash my car at least 4 times a week so it doesn't bother me.
  23. It will not damage anything. The only reason I got them fixed is because the noise was annoying and embarrassing.
  24. It's the heat shields on the exhaust that are cracked and need to be replaced. There are a few posts on here about this issue I had to deal with. Take it to the dealer. It's an easy and cheap fix. http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/index...showtopic=56195 http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/index...8&hl=rattle I think there are a few more topics stating pretty much the same thing. But i'm sure you get the idea.
  25. Tint the windows and close the sun-shade for the sunroof.
