  1. I am unsure about the tire rotation on the AWD, but I know that you cannot rotate on the IS350 because the front and rear tires are different sizes. And also the dealer should have offered him road hazards. Sterling McCall here in Houston offered them and they will replace any wheel free of charge. They just added the price into the total cost of the car. AWD tires are not staggered sizes. Then I would ALWAYS get them rotated with every oil change.

  3. Yeah that for sure seems like a transmission problem if it revs before moving. Get it checked out soon.
  4. Would it be recommended to get these things replaced at 90k miles? The quote from Sterling McCall Lexus in Houston for a "90k miles service" seemed unreasonable @ 1600.00 for alot of things that I either do myself or get my local mechanic to do at a fraction of a cost. Also the 90k service did not include the timing belt, which I thought was needed @ 90k miles. So I broke down what I wanted specifically. So if I wanted the 90k service plus the timing belt it would be over a whopping $3,000. And the reason I want all the fluids replaced is because I bought the truck 2 years ago 2nd hand and have no idea when the last time it has been done. Are these prices within a reasonable limit? Timing belt replaced - $1056.55 Water pump replaced – included w/tbelt price Transmission fluid flush - $249.95 Engine coolant replacement - $146.43 Throttle body service - $115.95 Flush, replace, or top off AHC fluid - $50.00 A/C filter – $100.63 Differential fluid replacement - $150.00 Transfer case fluid replacement - included w/differential Lubricate Drive shaft bearings and propeller shaft - included w/ differential Total: $1869.51 <_<
  5. OK - I took a pciture. here's the proof! Have you replaced the bulb?
  6. Hey looks great, come to Texas and paint my calipers for me!!!
  7. Yah, 142 mph makes it a real snail. Don't know how such nonperformance can be tolerated. How about the IS-F if speed is really needed? Perhaps a Porsche 911GT would fit the bill as well. Last time I checked 142mph is pretty damn fast....when I had my 350Z I got it up to 150mph and that was pretty intense and was on a long stretch of I-10. You would never want to do anything but head in a forward motion at that speed. I doubt either of you have honestly ever gotten a car up that fast....because you would NOT call it a snail.
  8. (Assuming you guys have HID lights) I haven't had this problem with my IS350 but have had it happen on my moms Land Rover. When a HID bulb needs to be replaced it will do this. It will come on sometimes and flicking the lights on and off will work for a while. Eventually it will not come on at all. Land Rover replaced the bulb under warranty and it has been fine. Hope this helps!! If you guys are running on halogen bulbs I would have no clue.
  9. Yeah usually you can get them on ebay for cheap. Maybe ones that are cracked and chipped like yours already or that have tabs missing. Which is no big deal. A new one from the dealership will run you about $450.00. I HAVE seen a few on ebay that are aftermarket that kind of have the "halo" type feature that BMW uses...but I think they look cheap. If you are REALLY wanting to save some money.....fill in the crack or chip with a hot glue gun!! It won't be that obvious.
  10. You bought it at this particular Lexus dealership? I would expect it from a non-Lexus dealer but that is just crap. Ethical would have been them doing to service before selling and tacked on 2k to the final sale price...which is what they seemed to have done anyway. Or they could have left if up to the buyer whether they want it done or not. You can get the 90k service done in a lot of other places for half that price. But at least inform you of what was going to be needed soon. But they worry too much about selling cars. That's why I guess it is good to do your own research for the car you want to see how much it will cost and when major service is needed.
  11. Hmm...trying to figure out what is a 12 letter word that would get censored by the board...oh, I get it. Rude, man... Usually taking off badges is easier when it is warm. If you live in the tundra, I would wait until the thaw. Assuming the badges use a doublesided foam tape like most manufacturers use, I have removed BMW badges using a hairdryer to warm it up to get the stickem soft, and then use dental floss to saw the badge off there. Afterwards, hair dryer and fingers/fingernails to get the residue off followed by a thorough cleaning and waxing. Good luck...deep breath...show some love for the "2s" in the world. EDIT: Darnit IS250Rookie! Apparently you type faster than I do! :cries: I'm glad i'm not the rudest!!
  12. Naa I wasn't upset he didn't get it. I don't think you have to be rude if you don't like something. A simple like or dislike would suffice. And I also just wanted to "share" them, I never asked for comments.
  13. Never have I experienced a problem like this with my IS350 and I traded in my 350Z for it. Which is the twin sister of the G35 Coupe. Although I do agree that with the Z even with 60mph wind gusts the car never ever budged on the road. I think you just need to get used to driving a normal car again. These 4 door cars are higher than the Z/G35 and are not sports cars. Though I haven't had a problem yet with my IS350. And I often drive one handed at 12 o'clock. I hope you enjoy the service department at the BMW dealership. Sorry to say you will be visiting them often.
  14. Honestly if it is performing well and there is no shimmy when stopping and the problem is just cosmetic...I would wait for the pads to die. And about the rotors being resurfaced they should last a while. The pads on the 350 are softer for better performance which leads to more brake dust....but i'm not sure but the stock pads I think are non-metallic or organic which are alot friendlier to rotors which should help them last longer.
  15. Correct, it just needs to be washed. By hand. If the dealership washed it for you when you got it, it's not good enough.
  16. My cruise control stopped working on my LX470.....so before a long, drawn out, and expensive dealership visit I have one question...... Which fuse does it work off of? I have looked at the box under the hood and the one next to the brake pedal but none of them say "cruise". So without having to pull all of them out one at a time to see if any are blown, does anyone know which one it is, or if it even uses a fuse?
  17. Now how the hell would you go about getting that done?! Sounds complicated.
  18. I have the newest version of the navigation CD in my IS350 and I cannot unlock it at all like I have seen posted of going through the menu and touching the top left and bottom back and forth a few times. So my question is this... Is this just related to the CD version I have which would mean if I were to get an older version CD online or something would it let me override? I know the maps would probably be not as updated but sometimes it seems almost worth it to not have to stop if you want to change a destination.
  19. I live here in Southeast Texas and travel on a ferry to get to Galveston often. The GPS does update while on the ferry without the wheels moving. I assume the speed sensor is made ONLY to disable functions while in motion and not to actually judge where the car is. Hence the name...Global Positioning Satellite. There is an antenna picking up signals for several different satellites that tell the car where it is. Speed sensor has nothing to do with the GPS system.
  20. Left can turn up to 15 degrees, and the right, 5 degrees. It works better depending on the bends in the road. For straight almost 90 degree turns at a corner or something they do no good. But windy roads at a constant speed above 20mph it works better.
  21. No joke!! I'm sure the dealership would have told me the CV joints needed to be replaced for $2000 when I just had them replaced. 6 months ago. And the REAL problem was a 10 dollar metal pin.
  22. If your car has it, it will have a picture of a car on the steering wheel with a sonar symbol under the voice command and display button AND your L logo on the front of your car will be all filled in and glossy like this...... untitled56.bmp
