  1. Steam as well as short bursts of wd 40 or silicone spray
  2. The noise is more than likely the good ol Toyota injectors which do like to get noisy as they age.
  3. I have no code but the right bank rear most plug does collect some oil in the plugs area of the valve cover. I wonder if that is cylinder 7?
  4. There are also many companies that do wheel exchanges which will swap your rims for a completely refinished chrome set for pretty cheap.
  5. I would still say your switches are faulty unless the led's are cheap and broken inside them. I would open the door panel off to find the issue before it breaks completely and you can't open it again.
  6. It is not the kind of think i would think highly of for someone to sell something they know has a problem and not disclose it. I would try and contact another rim shop as using a steel wire brush to the bead seal is usually included by many good tire shops. For about $40 in dremel bits you could clean up the bead seat yourself as $100 a wheel is a bit extreme in a basic repair.
  7. No Toyota dealer will service a Lexus in Toronto as we are not rural like most smaller dealers in the US. Get your oil changes done elsewhere and major service done at the dealer.
  8. I knew you would find the connector. The 1mz-fe is the worlds first OBD compliant engine in 94 before being mandated in 97. you have a A541E transmission in the 96. The 92-93 ES300 tranny which is easy to find uses just a A541. The E stands for electronic shift control which the 92-93 does not have.
  9. Thanks jibby. 95 i would use half a can and then change the oil after about 20 minutes of running it . The old oil in the engine is dirty now and needs to be changed . Just finish the job properly by treating it again. I don;t know anything about RX products but i personally don;t like a wonder chemical as such . To me seafoam is just a carbon cleaner not a seal restorer or scratch fixer like many other products claim to be all in one bottle fixes.
  10. Once sea foam is added to the oil it needs to have an oil change very shortly after or the dirt will become sludge once heated up again. Running pure seafoam is not a good thing as it is high concentrate that does not like rubber but also the heat would cause it to evaporate faster than it can be burnt for power causing bogging.
  11. your 96 ES is OBD2 as much as my 94 is. Going to the dealer is a waste of time unless you have money to burn.
  12. the port? It is located under the dash on the drivers side.
  13. You do not want them rechromed or the chrome repaired you want the chrome removed from the bead and sanded down to bare metal.
  14. I seafoam at 3am so i have no problems with neighbours. I use it in the gas ,intake and oil it is not for the tranny as it would rip apart the clutches and seals. New Toyota fluid is great at cleaning dirt when it is changed. That is why i use an inline filter to catch debris that the oem filter can't. I am waiting for an order of 10 so i can replace my inline one that is now full and add one to my power steering line as well once i flush it soon also. I like to use a line infront of the throttle body to ingest the fluid to clean all of the intake not just some of it . I did a firends IS300 and when it waw taken apart by a Japanese senoir Lexus tech he had never seen such a clean engine in his life.
  15. Get a muffler shop to modify the stock exhaust by removing the 2 resonators and leaving the rear mufflers. Do a search fro previous LS400 questions on it for pics to understand.
  16. I used to use the mothers stuff but the meguires is well beyond it.
  17. The tire sizing does have a slight problem to cause it to leak air but you need to find a wheel/rim repair shop not a seller of wheels. Ask a wheel shop for someone who repairs wheels or look in the yellow pages.
  18. Get a wheel shop to put it on a lathe and it will remove the chrome from the bead seal and it will be perfect. I have a set of sc430 wheels with the same problem ,it is an easy and cheap fix.
  19. moved to the general section where there are multiple debates ongoing there.
  20. Your more than welcome to borrow the idea ,you just have to make the cam cover with my initials . :)
  21. I have slotted and love them on my ES , i have drilled on my LS and love them 2 . Drilled are much quieter and do add a nice bite when i need to brake hard.
  22. You may have a sticking injector. Sea foam the gas and intake to clean it up first before trying to dig deeper.
  23. moved to the detailing section with the other similar threads.
