plz forgive me, i post this in the LS400 forum too. need a good mechnaic in NJ northern area to fix my 98 LS400 misfire problem - p0300, p0307. i checked the sparkplug, coil and connections, but couldn't find out the problem. sent the car to 2 local garages, they couldn't figure out either. i don't want to send to the dealer unless i have no choices. looks like they don't have it for 98. thanks. changed mine couple days ago through autozoe #c95029( $19.99 each ). RCRFAN got it only ( $15 ), i guess the autozoe in IL is cheaper than NJ ( $19.99 ). Thanks.

check the circuit to the coil and plug, they looks good to me. not sure it is the fuel injector problem or not since i don't know how to check it. probabbly need to bring the car to the dealer or other tech people. anyways, thanks for all your valuable information. Rgds, scw11

Topshelf, just want to thanks you for the detail info of this problem, i just follow your instruction to change my bank 1 sensor 1 ($170 from oxygensensors.com ) today, and VSC and CEL is off now. i love this forum because people always willing to provide the help when there is a problem. scw11

my 98 ls400 ( 50K miles ) VSC and CEL light is on since couple days ago, the autozone told me it is p0300 and p0307 -- random misfire, misfire on cylinder 7. anyone have this problem before? any suggestions where i should start? replace sparkplugs/wires, distributor cap, clean throttle body... thanks, scw11

thanks. my wife 01 rx300( 71K miles ) VSC and CEL light came on couple days ago, after research ( here, autozone( free code reading ) and Lexus dealer ) that point out it is bank 1 sensor 1 problem, the parts is on the way and plan to replace it asap. the car still running fine without any high rpm, not easy to shift...... unfortunately, my 98 ls400( 50K miles ) have the same lights( VSC off and CEL ) came on yesterday, still try to figure out what causes the problem. the car has a little vibration when 60 mph that never happen before.

Please help.... 1. need to konw the location of 98 ls400 for OBD II code scanner? 2. also, try to search "vsc cel " in ls400 forum, but not data found. thanks in advance. scw11
