  1. wow i fgured sc doors are really heavy never mind that already over enginered hinge that would be one hell of a shock to lift that door if you get in an accident with switchblade doors and the car is upside down how the hell do you get out? just a thought
  2. lol that is tooooo cool and too true
  3. barkat well stabalizer is used to help keep the gas from varnishing so its qualities will help return the performance of old gas and clean it out bbsal the one you had done that was by the master brake booster is the vacum line one it is attached to the master vacum hose as it has the largest suction then a gauge is used to slowly add the cleaing solution it is very good also as it cleans a little more of the manifold as the injector rail ones are futher down the tract and miss some of it walmart has this service for about $60 Canadian about $42 usd for the vacum and a fuel tratment added to the tank and throttle body cleaning i think you mechanic is over priced sorry but atleast it is a good service
  4. yah you don't need to but who wants to wait just pull the ecu fuse rather than all the battery cables which may mean redoing all the radio presets
  5. i agree use another person not a peice of wood or something also look for other places besides lexus for the shocks when doing it do one side at a time it is much easier
  6. first gen es i really have no ideas about except it was really a camry with different lights and ended in 91 the second gen is 92-96 on a mcv10 chasiss and the 97-01 is the mcv 20 third is the newest mcv 30 the part will not fit unless heavily modified an even then it would be lots of bondo to smooth them out as it has different lines and the front bumper alone has a sharp curve compared to yours with a slopeing curve
  7. i just noticed you can edit a post but not the original title or topic description like i seem to have screwed up and left out the 4 in my title and it sounds like i have 9 es 300 's just wondering

  9. you need line level convertors crystal line makes some i used tehm inmy es until i put a new deck in it is the closest you can get to having rca's through speaker wire outputs
  10. no that is what i was talking about as well i do have the lexus 3 volume service manuals for my car though have you actually received one from lexus or know someone personally who got a "free" one form lexus head office? kinda lika a key to me they give you one with the car but lose it and you SOL
  11. thought i saw it somewhere
  12. the dealer wouldn't have one unless they really are into performance you would have to check local performance shops to find one close to you call around tommorow and ask who is closest and recommended plus average price
  13. on the air condition display unit one button is recirculation /fresh air button the other is the auto knob temp adjustment
  14. since i cnnot see the seal it is hard to say wether it is the seal or the roof needs to be adjusted in position with shims do you have a cell phone antenna? as this can sometimes cause excess noise also one option is to use silicone spray on the seal to help the seal .........seal also use the spray on all the windows and doors edges and don't forget the trunk as any air to get out has to get in first seal as many places as possible and you will reduce wind noise also the doors may be leaking on the windowsedges if they are closed frequently by passanger using the window instead of the door and since there is no frame it goes out of alignment and leaks air usually and not water
  15. thanks for backing up my idea as most think it is really weird and i have to admit it is but i will try anything once well almost later
  16. do a search i think someone posted it not too long ago
  17. does not matter what deck you get it will over power the speakers and pop them if played loudly alot as there was also a volume reducer cuicit in the stock deck like most oem's to reduce high and low frequencies to save speakers the new deck will not have it best bet is to change all the speakers and get an amp in the trunk and run new wires to the trunk from each speaker
  18. i owuld think they would charge and i didn't even know they sent one out form head office i thought you went t o the parts desk to order it best and cheapest bet look on ebay
  19. i only know this also works with your car because of k-9 and have to give creat where it is due with the key off press the recirc and auto button together and the turn the key forward to the on position wait and release the buttons and it will check the lights on the dash and tehn spit out codes on the display if something is wrong but if everything is off it may be a fuse post isf it does show a code
  20. it depnds why the plastic is faded is it worn as tehre is a slight clear coat over the plastic ir is it buidup of dirt also the grills can be sponged out with a basic cleaner like fantastic or mr clean and warm soapy water what are the stains?
  21. yah from what i have read the power steeing leak would do that alot and cause more problems and money later
  22. no i don't think costco has them as they carry mid grade tires the x-ones are supposed to be the flagship all season tire for passanger vehicles
  23. where the hell do you find time to read magazines aswell as web forums man you can't be married lol you almost remind me of a friend over at www.toyotanation.com name phi you can ask anything on any subject and he will find a link on the web for it he is almost scary with his supercharged 97 camry and a t1 ultra high speed line see yah
  24. ok i may not be up to speed on things but last i checked rubbing compound is for acrylic based single stage paints if you use it on a clear coated es it will tend to dull the finish on the clear a better way to do things would be use a clay bar get all the grit imbedded in the paint out first then use mothers or meguires 3 step cleaner polish then wax the first step cleans anything left behind by the clay bar which is a dull finish and removes most swirls then the polish which adds a deep glaze to ethe car especially on drker colours then the good ol wax the first is best if you have a high speed buffer as it can make a car look new ( i did it to a friends sc400 right before he was going to sell it , the next day he called to say he fell in love with it again as the car looked new with shimmering black paint) the polish car be done either by a high speed or a orbital one and the wax is anygood cloth not mechanical needed just be careful as i have both types of buffers and the high speed can burn paint off in seconds if not done right best left to porfessionals \hope this helps
  25. a dyno is a dynometer in full it is just like an emmision test depending where you live and the style they do it the car is strapped down with the driving wheels placed either on top of a large metal drum or it sits between to smaller drums also depending on the style of dyno the car is held in a gear and reved at wot ( wide open throttle) a computer is hooked up to the drum in the ground measuring the speed at which it turns and calculates the amount of horsepower and torque given as output by the driving wheels at specific rpms this comes in very handy when doing any modifications as you an see on paper not a butt dyno( your mind ) if there actuallly was any improvments at all them most can compare what parts they added to a similar car and see if it is any good to there aftermarket part all in all a very useful tool best to do when the car is still stock to get what is called a baseline run to see what a regualr stok car does cost is about 40 canadian here but i know the dyno guys pretty well another thing some dynos have is a air fuel ratio reading where it sees where and when the car is runnng rich or lean especially good on a turbo car for fuel adjustments hope this answers your question
