  1. turnbowm, have you read the pinned thread about the 02 tranny issues. If not I suggest you do. It will take you a while because it has grown. The only way to find out if it bothers you is to see if you can't get a loaner for a weekend and drive it alot. I say loaner because it will have more miles and more drivers than a fresh new model. Jsut a heads up, many makers and models are going to this drive by wire system. steviej
  2. I would replace them as with the air bags. Best bet would be to have the dealership do it. check with your insurance....it may be required that they are replaced with new and not reset. I hope no one was hurt. steviej

  8. Tsquared, that was my information, too. As long as it is under the basic warranty, any change to the personal settings is gratus. My dealership did not specify it had to be them. Doesn't make sence because if the car is under basic warranty, it is honored by all Lexus dealerships. steviej
  9. so, Paul, your the SOB that asked for today's dumping!!!!!!! :chairshot: I just got another 7 inches today when I got back to my car after work. Thanks alot. :whistles: steviej just kidding with ya, you don't look like mother nature anyway.
  10. for halogens I prefer PIAA Xtreme White Plus, but they come at twice the price of silverstars. steviej
  11. yes, but ask them first, some don't like to or by contractual agreement cannot. steviej
  12. that was my next question..........its the fluid level. Add some. steviej
  13. the only reason i use synthetic is simply because it says more liquid than conventional at the prolonged drastically cold temperatures I endure in the winter in New England. This does yield less damage on the internals from some of the friction wear that is obtained regardless of the oil upon cold startups. as for you initial question. 1. drain warm old oil, remove filter. 2. install new filter 3. fill with the require volume of synthetic oil. 4. repeat procedure in 5000 miles or whatever makes you happy and comfortable. steviej
  14. if it has the factory original belts, I wouldn't wait. Just change them out. Your belts are 9 years old!!! They are an accident waiting to happen. Belts should be replaced at a minimum of every 5 years. They may look good on the visual surface but I bet they are all dry and cracked on the surface that rides on the pulleys. It is not and expensive fix. steviej
  15. this light, the BRAKE light, will also come on when the level of fluid in the brake fluid reservoir is low. Now, even though your actual level may be above the MIN mark, it may be low enought to trigger the float switch. I would add a little new DOT 3 brake fluid to this reservoir. This should prevent the light from illuminating. Toyota and Lexus have very sensitive float switches. Be very careful of this fluid as it will strip paint off of any metal. steviej

  19. you see, when you have winters like this in New England it always means that summer is right around the corner. Then you get to do the stuff you really love. Enjoy the winter. steviej
  20. and when the snow plow driver decides to leave you a present. :chairshot: They never show you this stuff on the December to Remember comercials. I still love it.
  21. The best thing is just shoveling snow endlessly.
  22. We should have photo contest and call it Lexus in the Wintertime. I just love New England Weekends. I got 28 inches of snow overnight. Just love it.
