  1. is there a part number anywhere on the mirror or on the mirrors you see in 97s in your area? steviej
  2. :chairshot: :chairshot: don't do that again!!! just kidding. If you want to clean the engine, have is steam cleaned, never use high pressure. you might want to place a call to the service manager where you had the diagnostic done. (was it Inskip Lexus or Lexus of Norwood?) A little feedback is always appreciated since they missed the obvious that was pointed out by an extremely knowledgable Lexus Tech. (you owe him several rum&cokes for the money saved.)
  3. RTFM!!!!! The filter replacement is the easiest DIY project and takes less than 5 minutes. It is all covered in your owners manual WITH pictures. Look in the index under Air conditioning filter. (Page 167-168 in the 2002 ES Manual.) I change it once a year. Don't be surprised if the new filter emits a slight and distinct odor (but clean odor) too. They are not the same filters that were sold in 2003. I think the manufacturer changed when Toyota changed oil filter manufacturers. They have less charcol and are not as sturdy as the original ones. On the positive side, they are half the price they were sold for in 2003 also. steviej
  4. In addtion to Army's suggestion: is your engine reaching normal operating temperature. It may be that you thermostat is stuck in the open position. The coolant may never reach a hot temp. steviej
  5. pull you tranny dipstick when the motor is at normal operating temp and the car is in P or N. (put your e-brake on!!!) Is the level correct (should be at HOT mark) and what color is the fluid on the stick? steviej
  6. 93 octane from Exxon or Mobil (only cause I got that neat SpeedPass thingie). steviej
  7. Steve, that's twice now, sounds like the onset of premature CRS. :whistles: :D steviej
  8. Here is a link to a CF dash kit for a 2003 IS. If there wasn't any change between 2003 and 2004 it may fit. It has 24 pieces. Also try searching google and ebay for "carbon fiber dash kits" Welcome to the best lexus site on the web. steviej
  9. yes they will change/increase the engine noise and no you will not see a significant performance or mileage improvement. steviej
  10. everything can be found on eBay. Here is a link for a search of "shark fin antenna" on ebay. I also googled the same and found a story about how these antennas are on the way out. as for your color....anything can be painted to match. Now, as an upstanding Lexus owner.....please reconsider this gimickry. steviej
  11. i get 22-23 mpg around town consistently in my 2002 ES. steviej
  12. you tell us, Subsequent to the the work you had performed, is the car still stalling after highway speeds??? steviej
  13. I would go Sears DieHard Gold or Optima Red Top (get the "R" so that the poles match up to your cable lengths). whichever you go with, make sure you get a least a good warranty. steviej
  14. I am with Alan. IlyaIlya, your problem sounds more fuel quality or fuel pressure related. However, the IACV is not to be ruled out. steviej
  15. I'm on top of it lexusk8. I believe it is the turn signal (amber) that is the LED. I think the tail light and brake light bulb are same. When I looked at the wiring diagram at the dealership, there is a new wiring harness that comes with it. I have talked briefly to one member that has already done this swap. steviej
  16. 1. ebay, search on lexus ES or lexus ES lights. 2. used, www.car-parts.com when putting in your search info., remember to search for an 01 ES not a 98. This will bring up salvage yards, and many are in the NY/NJ area. You may save on shipping that way. 3. new, www.newlexusparts.com when putting in your search info. click on collison not mechanical. good luck. I too am in the middle of a model year taillight swap. 05 tails going on an 02. steviej
  17. goal (Alan, thank you. They worked hard for it.) steviej
  18. latah (later with a Boston accent thrown in)
  19. if there was a heater core leak I would expect the leak to be in the front seat area and the liquid would be coolant colored. hit the rear windows and rear doors with water maybe even with a pressure washer. keep checking to see if the water level rises. steviej
  20. go back to Autozone and see if you can't retrieve your good sensor from whatever trach can you tossed it in. It may be a little dirty digging, but you would dig if someone told you there was a $100 bill in the trach can.....I know I would. It is worth a phone call to Autozone at least, try to speak with the service person that was with you when you swapped it out. Your discarded sensor will/should say Denso on it. steviej PS, I don't think you can return the new one in use because it is an electronic part and Autozone I don not think will reshelve it.
  21. Understood, but TrueBlue's ES is a 98 and that size was 205/65-15. So it stands to reason that he may very well have H rated Triple Treads on his. However, you and I are out of luck for today. I am very much interested in these tires, so hopefully Goodyear will broden its size range in the future. steviej
  22. take a peak here: l-tunedparts.com if it ain't in stock, it will take about 6-8 weeks to get it from Japan. talk to Steve (gonzo4u@earthlink.net) He is in charge of that department. steviej
