  1. The a/c system is a closed loop. The compressor sucks freon from the low side ,compresses it into the high side and then the freon flows through the expansion valve back into the low side. Also you ALWAYS want to fill through the low side(as a gas),because if you fill through the high side with the engine running the container you are filling from may/will explode.
  2. The a/c light is flashing because it thinks that the compresor is locked up.The compressor stops turning because the drive belt is slipping when it gets wet.Adjust belt tension.
  3. My dealer cracked up my car too. They fixed everything at no charge, new fender new moulding and other new parts and paint. They gave me a full detail also at no charge. It may be a little different because of your brake problems, but I think they should pay for everything.
  4. I used the search function already.I couldn't find anything about what I'm asking.I wanna know if the bulb for the cd functions is the same type as used for the other backlights in the radio.
  5. Does anyone know if the lights for the cd function buttons are twist in or are they soldered in. Half of my buttons just went out today, fast<,>,rpt and random ,just the red, the radio and tape buttons work fine. Is there just 1 bulb that lights half of the cd function indicators?
  6. General Motors recently revealed that its Cadillac division has engineered a scent for its vehicles and been processing it into their leather seats http://www.taipeitimes.com/News/worldbiz/a...0/27/2003073608
  7. I'm 26 still driving my '96 ES 124k,that I got new in '96.I love it but wouldn't buy a 330.I get them as loaners and they don't look/feel as sporty. But I guess that's why they made the IS.My next one will be a GS,mine's still going strong with no problems yet.
  8. I would like to thank everyone for responding.Where exactly does the a/c drain tube run from and exit the vehicle?
  9. I posted a while back about water leaking under the carpet in the rear footwell.Someone suggested that it might be one of the drains from the sunroof.I finally had time today to check it out.I bought some uv dye to mix with water so it could be traced with a black light,I poured it down the drip rails on both sides of the sunroof so it could go down all 4 drains. The water drained out of a four drains,I used my black light to look under the carpet and nothing, its damp from the other day but no dye. Does anyone have any idea where the water could be getting in??The trunk is dry so is every place else, only that one spot.
  10. I just pulled the spare it it's dry,the whole trunk is dry.It sounds to me like it's my rear drain that's the problem.I'll have to pull my rear seat and trim out and follow that hose.Anyone know if there is a uv dye that I could mix with water and maybe trace with a blacklight(nothing that would stain my light gray headliner),like they have for oil and trans.?<shahab_b----To help dry it out you could reach under the drivers seat and pull the carpet over the heat vent on the floor and place something under the carpet to "tent" it up some and drive with the heat on fooor, that's what I did worked pretty good, but I didn't have 2 inches of water>Thank You for your help, please let me know if there's anything else I should check.
  11. I'm having a problem with water somehow leaking under the carpet on the driver's side rear. About 2 week ago I was running some wires for my stereo, and noticed that the foam underside of the carpet was soaking wet. I checked door and window seals, trunk seals, and I even sealed the rubber plugs from the outside with sealer because they felt a little loose. It is only getting wet from the bottom of the carpet, the top is completely dry and no other place in the car is wet(that i can see). I have no idea how long it's been getting wet.I only noticed because I had the carpet out . There's a slight moldy/mildew smell already. I have dried it out and after heavy rain it's wet again. It’s not from the AC,haven't used it since summer and it's not antifreeze.I recently had the moonroof seals replaced by Lexus, which was dripping into the car. Could that somehow be related to my problem now?I would like to fix this myself,if I can.I had such a bad experience with the dealer,I would hate to have to return there, even if it's their fault.I have read other posts about the moonroof drains, Where exactly are they? I only could find 2 in the front corners, I heard that there are 4. Where do they drain to? If they are clogged would that cause water to get under the carpet? I thought the seal around the moonroof glass stops water from getting in, why are there drains?
  12. Mine ('96) just cracked too. The bottom of the drivers seat. I ordered a new one from the dealer($520) for just the leather cover on the bottom of the drivers seat. I got a quote from a local upholstery shop for $325 to re-upholster the bottom cusion, and he could not guarantee a 100% match. I plan on keeping the car for a while to come and the seat back is like new so I felt this was best for me. The passenger bottom is starting to crack and I'll do that next, then I'll have a perfect interior.
  13. I wonder how many baggies they have to sell to buy them.
  14. I brought my ‘96 ES 109,000mi. into the dealer yesterday because I was losing power steering fluid, I would fill it to the full line, the next day it would be down to the low line. The dealer quoted me $1200 for a new rack, tie rod ends and an alignment. I had them do the repair.I picked up the car today (Friday) and same problem as before. I will be returning Monday morning to the dealer. My question is what should I expect them to do? I never had any problems before with their service dept and I don’t know how to handle this.
  15. You got way too much freon in there. Total system capacity, if it's completely empty is only 28.2-31.7 oz.Low side pressure should be 21-36 psi with 86-95 F ambient. As far as the idle drop, mine drops some not sure how much but I think your compressor is working too hard.
