  1. thanks for the help man, i knew eventually somebody would see this that would be able to help i already ordered the avic-n1 so getting the OEM unit isn't an option........ as far as the speakers go, i know i can bypass the pre-amp and use the speakers that are in there, but this is another issue to handle! its possible i already have non-factory speakers anyways cause there are tweeters installed on the rear doors that aren't OEM, but I haven't taken the doors off yet so I'm not sure if you're a dealer and have parts to sell, give me your number or email and i'll hit you up thanks again for the help
  2. hate to be a pain, but i'm sure somebody must be able to help me out, so..... bump
  3. I ordered the Pioneer AVIC-N1 for my 98 ES300 and was hoping somebody might be able to link me to an installation guide for the vehicle so I don't have to pay somebody to do it for me I don't imagine installation will be too bad, but I need to find the VSS wire and I'm not sure where that is located Also, is there a pictorial guide from removing the stock radio? Not sure how to go about removing it Last question, is it possible to use the stock CD changer with the unit or will that essentially become useless after installation?
  4. Well this isn't the fix number, but this sounds like the same problem and they offer two solutions.... http://www.cartalk.com/content/columns/Arc...8/March/04.html They say it could either be an axle bearing (cheap to fix) or a problem with the differential (expensive), I'm hoping for both of our sakes its simply a rough up axle bearing! I also found this fix which is about the same humming but coming from the rear of Toyota's and it says its a bearing issue. http://www.tundrasolutions.com/forums/local_links/jump/263/4
  5. Hey man, I tried to PM you but it came up with an error so I apologize... I was surfing the luxurymods website you linked to and I see some nice stuff. Just curious if this is your personal website or not. If it is, do you happen to have an intake system for a 98 ES300? I see one for 91-96, but not for the 98.
  6. Maybe the laser that needs to be realligned and cleaned. Clean it first to see if there is a change, Use bought cd's for the test. How would I go about cleaning the laser? I'm guessing I need to purchase one of those cd's with a brush on it or something of that sort. If the laser needs to be realligned tho I'm guessing I'd be better off simply buying a new CD changer.
  7. Unfortunately this was not the problem......I put a CD in slot 6 and it will read that there is a CD that slot. It will begin to spin but it continually sounds as if it's spinning out and then it will cycle through all the CDs and go back to the original slot. It does this cycle repeatedly and never shows any sort of error message.
  8. I can't remember if I was trying to play burned discs or not, I'll go check it out
  9. I have the same problem in my 98 and from what I've read it doesn't seem to be a tire problem. Supposedly Lexus has issued a "fix" for this problem which is a good thing because they have yet to do the same for the Toyota's that do the same thing. I'm not sure what exactly it is, but it sure is annoying!
  10. No I'm not putting CDs in upside down. When I put them in upside the CD player doesn't even read them as being a disc to choose from. Its just like it never tries to begin playing the CDs
  11. Hey guys, I'm not sure how much help you guys will be able to be but somebody recommended I come here for help...so here I am! On the way home from school for Christmas break I flipped and totalled my SUV when I hit black ice on a mountain road. I ended up getting (what I felt to be) a pretty good deal on a 1998 Lexus ES300 in perfect cosmetic condition from a dealership in Northern Virginia (paid $8500). Well I've come across a couple small problems that I was hoping you guys might be able to give me some further incite about. 1) Between 70-75 MPH (speed limit in West Virginia is 70) there is a loud humming that fades in and out toward the front end of the vehicle. I've done some research and read about problems others have had in Toyota's doing the same thing but none offering me an explanation or a fix. 2) The CD changer will read what CD slots have CDs, however the CDs will not play. I'm pretty savvy about audio but I'm not sure whats going on with this. 3) The LCD is burned out on the radio display but I understand that is all too common...is there any way to get a custom head unit for this vehicle or do I have to replace it with the factory unit? Any help would seriously be appreciated, no matter how long from now it may be...thanks!
