yeah, occasionally you can get a tire from the manufacturer that is "not quite right". Take it back to Discount Tire with what the second opinion stated. Have them replace the defective tire. Also, have them swap your bent rim for the rim that is currently on your spare. If that rim is fine, then use the bent one for the spare and you won't have to spend any money except for what they may charge you to swap treads on the rims. The spare is just that, a spare. Even if it is slightly bent it will do the job intended...get you to safety if you need to use it. steviej

I have never had a problem having my tires balanced, fours sets on two differenct sets of rims. Find a shop that has the Hunter Road Force Balance machine and let them go to work. It may cost you $20 for each tire but it is worth it if the tech knows what he is doing and you have a rim that is slightly bent. steviej

the 02-06 ES has a bumper cover. It is less than $250 online. see here The cover can be removed and repainted. If it is gouged as you say, it may be easier to just replace with new and have a body shop repaint. If you do a little research, you will find that the RX300 and the ES300 both used the same 1MZ-FE V6 powerplant. Further digging and you will find that the RX330, ES330 and even the Toyota Sienna all use the same 3MZ-FE V6 powerplant. Most recently, I think you will also find that the new RX350 will share the same V6 as the ES350. Just because the horsepower is slightly different does not mean that the V6 powerplant is different. soooo.......:whistles::whistles: right back at cha. steviej

Poorly fitting gas caps and faulty emissions related sensors are the most common causes of getting a CEL (check engine light). But it can get expensive by taking the shotgun approach and just replacing out sensors without knowing which one is bad. Disconnecting the battery only treats the symptom and not the cause. Before you do anything, go to Autozone and have the trouble code(s) read for free. Write them down and post them up here so that we can better help you with the area that trips the code. Secondly, keep in mind that the sensor or problem that is indicated by the trouble code may not be the actual problem. There are hundreds of possible trouble code combinations that could be causing the light to come on. You won't know what they are until you get the codes read. steviej

todd332 I have been using synthetic in my last three cars with no problems. All the cars had oil change intervals of 3000 to 5000 miles from the get go. My last car, since I didn't pick it up until it had 90,000 miles never spilt a drop of oil even when switching over to synthetic at that time. I know the maint. history/oil change interval because all the records came with the car. Anyway, Try mobil 1 synthetic if you wish and watch it. Don't judge by the first week or so, because some oil will inevitably spill out from the removal and replacement of the filter. Give that time to dry up before you make actual assessment of true leakage if you are basing it on oil spots on the driveway. If in fact you do develop a leak, just drain out the synthetic and go back to a conventional formulation. steviej
